Which batteries can I charge with the Kress KAC840?

The KAC840 charger is designed only for Kress 60 V Li-Ion batteries. Do not use batteries of other brands or models.

How do I know if the battery is charging?

When the battery is inserted, the LED light flashes green to indicate charging. Once fully charged, the light becomes solid green. Refer to the indicator table in the manual.

What should I do if the red light is solid?

A solid red light indicates a faulty battery or poor connection. Try with another battery. If the problem persists, contact a certified Kress dealer.

Can I leave the battery in the charger after charging?

Yes, the charger switches to maintenance power mode. However, for long-term storage, it is recommended to keep the battery at 40-60% charge.

How long does it take to charge a 4.0 Ah battery?

With the KAC840, a 4.0 Ah battery charges in approximately 12 minutes. Two 4.0 Ah batteries charge in approximately 24 minutes (sequential charging).

The charger is not working, what should I check?

Check the power outlet, the power cord, and that the battery is properly inserted. If the red light flashes, the battery is too cold or too hot; wait until it reaches room temperature.

Can I use the charger in rain or a humid environment?

No. The charger must be used in a dry, well-ventilated area. Although it is rated IPX5, avoid exposure to rain or humidity to prevent corrosion.

What is the best temperature for charging the battery?

The ideal ambient temperature is between 18°C and 24°C. Do not charge below 0°C or above 40°C to avoid damaging the battery.

How to clean the charger?

Always unplug the charger before cleaning. Use a dry cloth to remove dust. Do not use water or liquid cleaning products.

Where can I find spare parts or have my charger repaired?

Contact a certified Kress dealer or an authorized service center. Do not attempt to open or repair the charger yourself.

ADDITIONAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR YOUR BATTERY CHARGER

1. Before charging, read the

instructions.
2. Do not charge a leaking battery.
3. Do not use chargers for works other than those for which they are designed.
4. Before charging, ensure your charger is matching the local AC supply.
5. Do not short out the contacts of battery or charger.
6. Respect the polarity “+/-” when charging.
7.Do not open the unit and keep out of the reach of children.
8.Do not charge the batteries of other manufactures or ill-suited models.
9. Ensure that the connection between the battery charger and battery is correctly positioned.
10. Keep battery charger's slots are free of foreign objects and protect against dirt and humidity. Store in a dry and frost-free place.
11. When charging batteries, ensure that the battery charger is in a well-ventilated area and away from inflammable materials. Batteries can get hot during charging. Do not overcharge any batteries. Ensure that batteries and chargers are not left unsupervised during charging.
12.Do not recharge non

rechargeable batteries, as they can overheat and break.

1. Longer life and better performance can be obtained if the battery pack is charged when the air temperature is between 18^ and 24^ . Do not charge the battery pack in air temperatures below 0^ , or above 40^ . This is important as it can prevent serious damage to the battery pack.
2. Charge only battery pack of the same model provided by Kress and of models recommended by Kress.

NOTE: Before using the charger, read the instruction book carefully.

CHARGING INSTRUCTIONS

1. Charging your battery pack

This charger is designed for battery pack charging.

WARNING: The charger and battery pack are specifically designed to work together so do not attempt to use any other devices. Never

insert or allow metallic objects into your charger or battery pack connections because an electrical failure and hazard will occur.

2. Before using your cordless tool

Your battery pack is partly charged and needs to be fully charged before first use.

3. How to charge your battery procedure

1) Plug the charger into an appropriate outlet.
2) When inserting the one battery pack into the charging port, the indicator light flashes green. This indicates the battery is charging. When charging two batteries this KAC840 charges the batteries in sequence.

NOTE: Port 1 is available for Robotic charging.

CHARGING INDICATOR

This charger is a "smart charger" that is designed to provide you information on the status of your battery charge. Indicator lights in the table below will show the charging status. If you receive a defective charge indicator light (red on), insert a new battery to determine if the charger is OK. If the new battery charges correctly, then the original pack is defective and should be returned to an authorize Kress Dealer. If the new battery pack displays the same problem as the original Battery Pack, have the charger tested at an authorized service center.

BATTERY TEMPERATURE PROTECTION

This charger has a battery temperature protection feature. When the charger detects a battery pack that is too hot (the light will flash red), its internal fan will rapidly cool the battery to the correct temperature. When the charger detects a battery pack that is too cold (the light will flash red), it automatically activates the protection circuit, and suspends charging until the battery pack has reached the correct temperature. The charging process will then automatically begin (the light will flash green). This feature ensures maximum battery life.

LEAVING THE BATTERY PACK IN THE CHARGER

If a fully charged battery pack is left in the charger, the battery pack will enter a sleep low power mode.

IMPORTANT CHARGING NOTES:

1. For long-term storage, please keep the battery pack at 40% 60% state of charge. It is suggested to check the battery power level regularly. During long term storage, battery should be charged and discharged every 3 months.
2. Never freeze your charger or immerse charger in water or any other liquid.
3. When the battery pack fails to produce sufficient power on jobs that were previously done easily, please recharge your battery, do not continue to use under this condition. You may charge a partially used pack whenever you desire with no adverse effect on the battery pack.
4. When charging, it is normal that the charger and battery pack may become warm to touch.
5. If the battery pack does not charge properly:
   a. Check current at power outlet by plugging in

another appliance.

b. Plug and unplug to check whether the charger is ok
c. Check if the battery or the charger are damaged
d. Move the charger and battery pack to a location where the surrounding air temperature is approximately 18^ - 25^ (65°F to 77°F).
e. If the charging problem persists, take the tool, battery pack and charger to an authorized service center.
f. Under certain conditions, when the charger is plugged into the power supply, the exposed charging contacts inside the charger can be shorted by foreign material. Foreign materials of a conductive nature such as metallic particles should be kept away from charger cavities. Always unplug the charger from the power supply when there is no battery pack in the charger or before attempting to clean.

CAUTION: Do not operate or store the charger in rain or wet condition to avoid electrodes corrosion and shortening the life. Charge battery packs after the electrodes are completely dry in case they are wet. Replace the electrodes if obvious verdigris appears.

PROBLEM SOLUTION

1.I CANNOT FIT THE BATTERY INTO THE BATTERY CHARGER. WHY?

a) Check if the charger and the battery pack are specifically designed for working together.
b) The battery can be inserted into the charger only in one direction. Turn the battery around until it can be inserted into the slot, the indicator light should be green and flash when the battery is charging.

2. REASONS FOR DIFFERENT CHARGING TIMES

The charging time can be affected by many reasons which are not defects in your product.

a) If the battery pack is only partly discharged it may be re-charged in less than rated charging time.
b) If the battery pack and ambient temperature are very cold/ hot, it may take longer to re-charge. Please find an appropriate environment with proper air temperature to start charging.
c) Batteries of higher Amp Hour rating require more charging time.

MAINTENANCE

1. Remove the plug from the socket before carrying out any adjustment, servicing or maintenance.

Your battery or charger requires no additional maintenance.
If there is dust in the drain(a), rinse it with clean water. Wipe clean with a dry cloth. Always locate your battery, charger and power tool in a dry

place. (See Fig. A)

If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard.

1. If there is dust on the windshield, please use a tool to lift one side of the windshield, remove the windshield, and rinse with clean water. (See Fig. B)

Charging time varies with different temperature. For the technical data of the types, the number of cells and the rated capacity of the batteries that can be charged, please refer the nameplate of the battery pack supplied by Kress.

As the colors of the wires in the mains lead of thisappliance may not correspond with the coloured markings identifying the terminals in your plug,proceed as follows. The wire which is coloured blue must be connected to the terminal which is marked with N. The wire which is coloured brown must be connected to the terminal which is marked with L.

Warning: Never connect live or neutral wires to the earth terminal of the plug. Only fit an

approved 13ABS1363/A plug and the correct rated fuse.

NOTE: If a moulded plug is fitted and has to be removed take great care in disposing of the plug and severed cable, it must be destroyed to prevent engaging into a socket.
