USER MANUAL iKonic R JANE

Your new IKONIC R from JANE-CONCORD is a safety seat designed to protect the baby in the car. This product is suitable for children of up to 18 kg, with a height of between 40 and 105 cm.

This is an "i-Size" child restraint system. It has been approved under Regulation 129/03, for general use in vehicles fitted with the "i-Size" system.

It can be used in vehicles with "i-Size" authorised seats (check the details in the vehicle instruction manual) and vehicles compatible with the class B1 or D ISOfix category (see the compatibility list on the website: www. janeworld.com)

It is very important that you read these instructions carefully before using the IKONIC R safety seat for the first time. Make sure that everyone who is going to use it at any time is also familiar with the instructions for correct installation and use. It has been shown that a significant percentage of safety seat users do not install their seats correctly; understanding and following the instruction manuals correctly is as important for safety as the actual seat itself.

B_WARNINGS

• Never leave the baby alone.

• Never leave the child unsupervised in the safety device.

• The safety seat should not be used on seats with active front airbags. (Danger of death!)

• Sometimes children carry objects (for example toys) in their trouser or jacket pockets or their clothes can include rigid parts (for example buckles). Make sure that these objects are not held between the child and the seat belt, because in the event of an accident they could cause unnecessary injuries.
• These risks also apply to adults!
• Children are naturally very active sometimes. Therefore, you need to explain to children how important it is that they are always fastened in their seats. Then it will be clear that they must not play with the belt guides or unfasten the straps.
• Your child's safety is guaranteed as far as possible only when the safety device is correctly installed and used.
• Not all safety systems are exactly the same, therefore we advise you to test your IKONIC R in the car in which it is going to be installed.
• Any alteration or addition to the device without authorisation from

JANE-CONCORD may seriously affect the safety of the restraint system.

• Read these instructions carefully before use and keep them for future reference. Your child's safety may be affected if you do not follow these instructions. For the child to travel safely in the car you also need to check the relevant points of the vehicle instruction manual.
• This safety device must not be used without its cover, and the cover must not be replaced with one that is not the original, as it is an integral part of the system's safety features. Only use accessories that have been approved by JANE-CONCORD.
• Never add a mattress, pillow or extra padding for greater comfort as this would alter the safety features of the system.
• The seat belts should be fitted snugly, not twisted and they should be protected from damage.
• Always remember to carry the baby with the safety harness correctly fastened. The straps should fit the child snugly, they must not be twisted and they should fit over the child's pelvis (lap belt) and over the child's shoulders (body belt).

• Do not make any changes to the restraint system; this could put your baby's safety at risk.

• The restraint system must not be damaged and must not get trapped by the mobile parts inside the vehicle or the doors.

• Protect the uncovered parts of the restraint system from direct sunlight so that the baby's skin does not come into contact with very hot parts.

• It is very important not to use second-hand products, as JANÉ-CONCORD can only guarantee the complete safety of the items when used by the original buyer.
• For your baby's correct development it is advisable to not use the safety seat for prolonged periods on lengthy journeys; let the baby rest regularly in a carrycot or a bed fully stretched out.

• Failure to follow these instructions carefully for the correct use of the restraint system can put your baby's safety at risk.

• Make sure any companions also know how to get the child out in the event of an accident.

• Secure any luggage or other objects to reduce the risk of injuries in the event of an accident.

• The instruction manual should always be kept with the safety seat.
• Do not use any unauthorised accessories or replacement parts as this will annul the guarantee and any liability claims. Only accessories approved by JANE-CONCORD are permitted.

• Your safety seat should be replaced by a new one whenever it has been involved in an accident.

• DO NOT use this safety seat in the forward facing position for babies under 15 months.

• WARNING: Check the road traffic regulations in the country where you are travelling. The use of your child restraint system may be restricted.

C_general INSTRUCTIONS

In order to protect your baby adequately and to ensure their comfort and stability in the car, the following instructions must be strictly followed:

This seat is only suitable for cars fitted with the ISOFIX anchoring system, approved under Regulation ECE-14 or other equivalent standards.

Your IKONIC R safety seat can be installed on the front seat, if it is not fitted with an airbag, or back seat of your vehicle. However, we advise you to install it on the back seat. If it is installed on the front seat of the vehicle, make sure it IS NOT fitted with an air bag, or that the airbag is disconnected. You should also check the Traffic Law of the country where you are driving.

Not all safety systems are exactly the same, therefore we advise you to check your IKONIC R in the car in which it is going to be fitted.

It is very important not to use second-hand products, as JANÉCONCORD can only guarantee complete safety with items used by their first buyer.

JANE-CONCORD recommends that you replace your IKONIC R safety seat with a new one if it has been subjected to violent stress in an accident.

Check that all the seat straps are in the correct position and duly adjusted to your IKONIC R. Make sure that none of the straps are twisted. The child must understand that he must not play with the straps or fasteners under any circumstances.

Do not install the safety seat on sideways seats in the vehicle or rear facing seats, this is very dangerous.

D_GETTING TO KNOW YOUR SAFETY SEAT

Your IKONIC R safety seat has been designed taking into account the latest advances in terms of safety and it has been tested under the toughest conditions. It has the following features:

Installing in the vehicle:

Ready for easy installation with the ISOFIX system (See section INSTALLING THE SEAT IN THE CAR of these instructions).

Comfort and safety for the baby:

The child restraint harness is fitted with the "Holmbergs RollFix TM" system that retracts the seat belts. This system retracts the excess belt and keeps it snug against the body at all times.

Integrated 5-point harness, with a greater fastening area, so distributing the loads on the baby better in the event of an accident.

Ventilation in the shell making it more breathable.

Impact absorbing material over the entire surface in contact with the baby.

Adjustable headrest with 5 different positions.

The safety seat can be reclined.

Fitted with insert for babies from 40 to 60~cm in height.

Convenience for parents:

The height of the shoulder straps can be adjusted without having to take the straps off. This action is connected to the headrest so it protects the baby better in the event of a side impact while supporting the head.

The seat can be turned to face the door making it easier to place the baby in it.

Removable and washable upholstery.

E-instALLING THE SEAT IN THE CAR

Before installing the safety seat, make sure that the vehicle seat where you are going to install it is i-Size, or that it is fitted with ISOfix anchors and that your vehicle is on the list of compatible vehicles. (See your vehicle instruction manual, it will tell you which of the vehicle seats are compatible with the safety seat).

Main use options:

1 - Rear facing

For babies from 40 to 60~cm with the insert.

For children from 60 to 105cm in height and a maximum weight of 18 Kg without the insert.

Install the seat with ISOfix anchors and the anti-rotation leg.

The child is secured with the 5-point harness fitted in the seat.

2-Forward facing

For children of 76 to 105cm tall and with a maximum weight of 18kg .

Do not use in the forward facing position is the child is less than 15 months old.

Install the seat with ISOfix anchors and the anti-rotation leg.

The child is secured with the 5-point harness fitted in the seat.

The IKONIC R safety seat should preferably be installed on the rear seat of the vehicle. Before installing the safety seat, make sure that the vehicle seat where you are going to install it is i-Size, or that it is fitted with ISOfix anchors and that your vehicle is on the list of compatible vehicles.

Extract the ISOfix anchors (6) by turning the handle (9) on the side of the base. The anti-rotation leg (12) will unfold due to IKONIC R. 1.a

Guide both anchors towards the connectors and press until both sides are locked, two green signals on the base (8) will show that both sides are correctly anchored. If one or both of the signals are red, repeat this step. 1.b

Turn the handle (9) anti-clockwise to fit the safety seat firmly against the backrest of the vehicle seat. 1.c

Pull the leg lock (12b) and extend it until it makes contact with the floor of the vehicle. The signals on the foot of the leg (12a) will turn green. 1.d

Release the leg lock and extend the leg manually until it locks again. The lock signal will turn green. 1.e

F_CHANGING THE POSITION OF THE SEAT

The IKONIC R safety seat can be used in the rear facing position from birth up to when the child is 105cm tall or in the forward facing position from 15 months up to when the child is 105cm tall.

The seat can be turned round 360^ , the rotation only locks in the two positions of use: rear facing and forward facing.

To change the position of the seat:

Pull the lever (13) found on the side of the sear and pull the seat towards you. 2.a

Release the lever and turn the seat to the required position. It will lock when it reaches the position for travelling. 2.b

WARNING: In vehicles that are not fitted with rear seat doors, the rotation of the seat is limited due to the space between the seat and the sides.

G_PLACING THE CHILD IN THE SEAT

The IKONIC R safety seat should preferably be installed on the rear seat of the vehicle. Before installing the safety seat, make sure that the vehicle seat where you are going to install it is i-Size, or that it is fitted with ISOfix anchors and that your vehicle is on the list of compatible vehicles.

To make it easier to place the child in the seat, you can turn the seat so it faces the car door. The seat will not lock in this position, once the child is in the seat the seat should be turned back to the position for travelling.

For babies up to 60~cm in height use the cushion insert.

When using the insert, the headrest of the seat should be in the lowest position. Read section H for instructions on how to adjust the headrest height.

Place the cushion insert in the seat, passing the shoulder straps through the slot below the headrest.

Fasten the baby in following the steps below:

Pull the lever (13) found on the side of the seat and turn the seat. 3.a

If it is not, unfasten the buckle and fold the crotch part fully forward, this releases the belts. 3.b
Lengthen the belts by pulling the shoulder straps. 3.c
For ease of installation, position the buckle ends on the elastic strips. 3.d
- Position the child in the seat making sure they are sitting well back in the seat with their back straight. Bring the top ends of the buckle together. 3.e
- Lift the central buckle, insert the top parts into the clasp and press until you hear it click locked. 3 .f
- Check that the "Holmbergs RollFix™" belt retractors have retracted any excess belt, if not, help by pushing the belts upwards. 3.g
- Turn the seat to the travel position. 3.h

WARNING: The forward facing position is not recommended at all for babies of less than 76~cm tall or under 15 months old.

H_ADJUSTING THE INTEGRATED STRAPS

The height of the shoulder straps should be adjusted as the child grows. With the child sitting correctly in the safety seat check the shoulder straps are at the right height. They should be just above the child's shoulders. IKONIC R has 5 shoulder strap positions, when adjusting the height the headrest will move.

To change the height follow the steps below:

Pull the ring found on the back of the headrest (4), this will unlock the position of the headrest. 4.a

Slide the headrest (3) to the correct position for the child and release the ring. Move the headrest until you hear it click when locked into place. Pull the headrest to make sure it is secure. 4.b

WARNING: Adjust the height as the child grows.

I_RECLINING THE SEAT

The IKONIC R safety seat can be reclined using a lever on the front part of the seat (10). It has 4 positions. To recline the seat, pull the lever and slide the seat to the required position.

J_REMOVE THE SEAT FROM THE VEHICLE

Loosen the tension of the ISOfix anchors by turning the handle (9).

Release the ISOfix anchors by pressing both unlocking buttons (7). The signals on the side (8) will turn red. 6.b

Remove the safety seat. You can store the ISOfix anchors inside the base by turning the handle (9) and fold the leg.

K_RECOMMENDATIONS

Keep this instruction book for future reference. Always keep it in the pocket behind the backrest (11).

Inside the vehicle make sure that all luggage and any other objects that could cause damage in the event of an accident are properly secured or stored.

The IKONIC R safety seat must be properly fastened to your vehicle with the Isofix anchors, even when it is not in use, because in the event of an accident it could get flung about and could injure the other occupants of the car.

L_MAINTENANCE

Do not expose the upholstery to sunlight for long periods, when the seat is not in use, cover it or store it in the boot.

Wash the plastic parts with soap and warm water, carefully drying all the components afterwards. The upholstery can be removed for washing. Follow the instructions below:

Headrest:

Remove the upholstery from around the headrest and underneath the overhang of the headrest. 7.a

Shoulder and crotch strap pads:

Undo the Velcro strips on the shoulder pads and take them off the straps. 7.b

Upholstery on the seat part:

Unfasten the two side parts and take the cover off all around the edges of the seat. 7.c

Wash at a temperature never higher than 30^

To fit the upholstery back on, follow the same steps in reverse.
