Introduction Congratulations on the purchase of your new appliance. You have chosen a high-quality product. The operating instructions are part of this product. They contain important information about safety, usage and disposal. Before using the product, please familiarise yourself with all operating and safety instructions. Use the product only as described and for the range of applications specified. Please also pass these operating instructions on to any future owner. Intended use This appliance is intended for gluing wood, cardboard, packaging, PVC, carpet, seals, plastics, leather, ceramics, glass and fabric with hot-melt adhesive. The material to be glued must be clean, dry and free of grease. You can also use the appliance for sealing, grouting, handicrafts and decorating. Any other usage of or modification to the appliance is deemed to be improper and carries a significant riskof accidents. The manufacturer accepts no responsibility for damage(s) attributable to misuse. The appliance is not intended for commercial use. 25 ■ General safety warnings for electric heating tools WARNING! ► Read all safety warnings and all instructions. Failure to follow the warnings and instructions may result in electric shock, fire and/ or serious injury. Save all warnings and instructions for future reference. The term “electric heating tool” in the warnings refers to your mains-operated (corded) electric heating tool or battery-operated (cordless) electric heating tool.
Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance. ■ NOTE! This appliance must be placed on its stand 3or the charger ! when not in use. ■ Always protect the appliance from rain and moisture. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of electric shock.PHPA 4 B3 ■ 26
■ Only for indoor use. ■ During breaks in work, rest the appliance on the stand 3. ■ Allow the appliance to cool completely after use and before storage. ■ Do not work on any material containing asbestos. ■ Avoid the risk of injury or fire as well as health risks: Risk of burns! The nozzle reaches a temperature of over 170°C. The glue reaches atemperature of over 170°C. Do not touch the nozzle or the hot glue. Do not allow hot glue to come into contact with people or animals. In case of contact with skin, rinse the affected part in cold running water for a few minutes. Do not attempt to remove the adhesive from the skin. ■ Do not pull out the glue stick!PHPA 4 B3
27 ■ Use and handling of the cordless electrical powertool a) Charge the appliance using only the charger recommended by the manufacturer. Chargers are often designed for a particular type of rechargeable battery unit. There is the danger of fire if other types of rechargeable battery units are used. c) When not in use, store the appliance away from paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws or other small metal objects that could bridge the contacts. Short-circuiting the contacts of a rechargeable battery unit may result in heat damage or fire. c) Fluids may leak out of rechargeable battery units if they are misused. If this happens, avoid contact with the fluid. If contact occurs, flush the affected area with water. Seek additional medical help if any of the fluid gets into your eyes. Escaping battery fluid may cause skin irritation or burns. CAUTION! RISK OF EXPLOSION! Never charge non-rechargeable batteries. Protect the appliance from heat, e.g. also from continuous sunlight, fire, water and humidity. There is a risk of explosion.PHPA 4 B3 ■ 28
Safety guidelines for battery chargers ■ This appliance may be used by children aged 8years and above and by persons with limited physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge, provided that they are under supervision or have been told how to use the appliance safely and are aware of the potential risks. Do not allow children to use the appliance as a toy. Cleaning and user main- tenance tasks may not be carried out by children unless they are supervised. The charger is suitable for indoor use only.
If you are using a USB power supply, the mains socket used must always be easily accessible sothat the USB power supply can be quickly disconnected from the socket in a hazardous situation. Please also observe the operating instructions for the USB power supply. WARNING! Use only the power cable supplied with the supplied charger !.

29 ■ WARNING! ■ Never operate the charger if the power plug is damaged. Damaged plugs are hazardous to life due to the increased risk of electric shock. Before use Charging the appliance battery Only for indoor use! NOTE ► The battery is supplied partially charged. Before first use, charge the battery for at least 1 hours. Li-ion batteries can be charged at any time without adversely affecting their service life. Interrupting the charging process does not damage the battery. ■ Never charge the appliance when the ambient temperature is below 10°C or above 40°C. Starting charging ♦ Connect the USB-C plug of the charger cable to the USB-C charging port on the charger !. ♦ Connect the USB plug of the charger cable to the mains adapter . ♦ Connect the mains adapter to a 100–240 V ∼, 50/60 Hz power source. ♦ Place the cordless glue gun onto the charging cradle !. The battery charge level indicator lights up red.PHPA 4 B3 ■ 30
Stopping charging ♦ The green battery charge level indicator indicates that the charging process is complete and the cordless glue gun is ready for use. ♦ Remove the cordless glue gun from the charging cradle !. ♦ Disconnect the mains adapter from the power supply. Battery level display The battery level display indicates the charge level using 2coloured LEDs. Green LED The battery is fully charged. Red LED The battery is flat. Recharge it. Preparing the surfaces to be glued ■ Do not use flammable solvents to clean the surfaces to be glued. ■ The ambient temperature and the materials to be bonded may not be colder than 5°C and not warmer than 50°C. ■ The area to be glued must be clean, dry and free of grease. ♦ Smooth surfaces should be roughened before gluing. ♦ Quick-cooling materials such as steel should be warmed a little to facilitate adhesion.PHPA 4 B3
31 ■ Use Inserting a glue stick ♦ Push the glue stick into the feeder shaft . Switching on ♦ To turn on the cordless glue gun, press the ON/OFF button until the temperature indicator lights up red and the battery capacity/charge level indicator lights up green/red. The glue is heated up. ♦ Allow the appliance to heat up for about 60 seconds. The appliance is now ready for use. ■ The temperature indicator lights up green as soon as the appliance has reached working temperature. Switching off ♦ To turn off the cordless hot glue gun, press the ON/OFF button. The temperature indicator goes out. ♦ During breaks in work, put the glue gun down on the stand3. Allow the appliance to cool down fully before storing it. The hot nozzle . can cause damage and/or burns.PHPA 4 B3 ■ 32
Automatic switch off NOTE ► The cordless glue gun switches itself off after 10 minutes to save energy. – Switch the cordless glue gun back on. Check the tempera- ture indicator

Gluing ♦ Pull the trigger to regulate the flow of glue in accordance with your requirements. ♦ Apply the glue in spots. For flexible materials, such as textiles, apply the glue in zigzag lines. ♦ Press the two workpieces to be bonded together immediately after applying the glue and hold for about 30 seconds. The glued bond is ready after about 5 minutes. ♦ During breaks in work, put the glue gun down on the stand 3. ♦ Remove any glue residue after it has cooled down with a sharp knife. Bonded joints can be released by heating.PHPA 4 B3
33 ■ Maintenance and cleaning The cordless glue gun is maintenance free. WARNING! Always remove the mains adapter from the power socket before cleaning the appliance. Keep the appliance clean and dry at all times. ■ The appliance must always be kept clean, dry and free from oil or grease. ■ Do not allow any liquids to get into the appliance. ■ Use a cloth to clean the housing. Never use petrol, solvents or cleansers which can damage plastic. Disposal The packaging is made from environmentally friendly material and can be disposed of at your local recycling plant. Dispose of the packaging in an environmentally friendly manner. Note the labelling on the packaging and sepa- rate the packaging material components for disposal ifnecessary. The packaging material is labelled with abbreviations (a) and numbers (b) with the following meanings: 1–7: plastics, 20–22: paper and cardboard, 80–98: composites. Your local community or municipal authorities can provide information on how to dispose of the worn-out product.PHPA 4 B3 ■ 34
Do not dispose of electrical appliances in the household waste! As required by European Guideline 2012/19/EU, worn-out electrical appliances must be collected sepa- rately and fed into an environmentally compatible recycling process. The appliance and the batteries must be disposed of separately. ATTENTION! ► The battery must be removed/disposed of by a specialist technician. Dispose of the appliance via an approved disposal company or your municipal waste facility. Please comply with all applicable regulations. Please contact your waste disposal facility if you are in any doubt. Do not dispose of batteries in your normal household waste! Disposal of (rechargeable) batteries Used batteries may not be disposed of in the household waste. Consumers are legally obliged to dispose of batteries at a collection point in their community/city district or at a retail store. The purpose of this obligation is to ensure that batteries are disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner. Only dispose of batteries when they are fully discharged. The product is recyclable, subject to extended producer responsibility and is collected separately.PHPA 4 B3
35 ■ Kompernass Handels GmbH warranty Dear Customer, This appliance has a 3-year warranty valid from the date of purchase. If this product has any faults, you, the buyer, have certain statutory rights. Your statutory rights are not restricted in any way by the warranty described below. Warranty conditions The warranty period starts on the date of purchase. Please keep your receipt in a safe place. This will be required as proof of purchase. If any material or manufacturing fault occurs within three years of the date of purchase of the product, we will either repair or replace the product for you or refund the purchase price (at our discretion). This warranty service requires that you present the defective appliance and the proof of purchase (receipt) within the three-year warranty period, along with a brief written description of the fault and of when it occurred. If the defect is covered by the warranty, your product will either be repaired or replaced by us. The repair or replacement of a product does not signify the beginning of a new warranty period. Warranty period and statutory claims for defects The warranty period is not prolonged by repairs effected under the warranty. This also applies to replaced and repaired components. Scope of the warranty This appliance has been manufactured in accordance with strict quality guidelines and inspected meticulously prior to delivery. The warranty covers material faults or production faults. The warranty does not extend to product parts subject to normal wear and tear or to fragile parts which could be considered as consum- able parts such as switches or parts made of glass. The warranty does not apply if the product has been damaged, improperly used or improperly maintained. The directions in the operating instructions for the product regarding proper use of the product are to be strictly followed. Uses and actions that are discour- aged in the operating instructions or which are warned against must be avoided. This product is intended solely for private use and not for commercial purposes. The warranty shall be deemed void in cases of misuse or improper handling, use of force and modifications / repairs which have not been carried out by one of our authorised Service centres.
