How to change the blade on the Metabo STA 18 LTX 140 jigsaw?

To change the blade, turn the SDS quick-change lever at the front of the saw. Insert the T-shank blade as far as it will go, then release the lever. Check that the blade is securely fastened before use.

Which battery to use with the STA 18 LTX 140 model?

Use a Li-Ion 18 V battery from Metabo or the CAS (Cordless Alliance System). Capacities from 1.3 Ah to 10 Ah are compatible. Never use non-rechargeable batteries.

How to adjust the bevel cut?

Loosen the locking screw under the base plate. Tilt the base plate to the desired angle (0° to 45°). Tighten the screw firmly. Use the angle guide for precise cuts.

What to do if the saw does not start?

Check that the battery is charged and properly inserted. Make sure the safety lock is disengaged. If the problem persists, contact Metabo after-sales service.

How to clean the Metabo STA 18 LTX 140 saw?

Remove the battery before cleaning. Use a dry cloth to wipe the housing. Clean the ventilation slots with a soft brush. Do not use harsh chemicals or water.

What is the maximum cutting depth?

The maximum cutting depth in wood is 140 mm. In non-ferrous metals, it is about 20 mm. Use a blade suitable for the material.

How to use the parallel guide?

Insert the parallel guide into the slots on the base plate. Tighten the locking screw. Adjust the desired distance between the guide and the blade for straight cuts.

The LED light does not turn on, what to do?

Check that the battery is charged and the saw is turned on. If the LED remains off, it may be defective. Contact an authorized Metabo repair center for replacement.

Can I use blades of other brands?

Yes, use blades with a standard T-shank. Make sure the blade is compatible with the stroke and speed of your saw to avoid damage.

How to maintain the saw to prolong its life?

After each use, clean the saw. Lightly oil the blade change mechanism. Store it in a dry place. Have the saw serviced by a professional if you notice any abnormalities.

2. Specified Conditions of Use

Chargers are only suitable for charging original Metabo and CAS (Cordless Alliance System) battery packs.

This device is not designed for use by persons (including children) with physical, sensory or mental disabilities, or with insufficient experience and/or knowledge, unless they are supervised by a person responsible for their safety, or have received instructions on how to use the device by this person.

ASC 290 is suitable for charging Li-iron battery packs (12 V - 36 V, 1.3 Ah - 10 Ah, 3-10 cells). The device is suitable for charging electronic devices with a USB-C interface (like smartphones, MP3 players, tablets, etc.) - no data exchange

ASC 145 is suitable for charging Li-lon battery packs (12 V - 36 V, 1.3 Ah - 10 Ah, 3-10 cells).

ASC 55 is suitable for charging Li-ion battery packs (12 V - 36 V, 1.3 Ah - 10 Ah, 3-10 cells).

ASC 55 is suitable for charging NiCd battery packs (12 V, 1.7 Ah, 10 cells).

SC 36, SC 30 is suitable for charging Li-Ion battery packs (12 V - 18 V, 1.3 Ah - 10 Ah, 3-10 cells).

Never attempt to charge batteries that are not rechargeable. Danger of explosion!

Danger - electrical voltage!

A slightly acidic, flammable fluid may leak from defective Li-ion battery packs!

6. Initial Operation

Before commissioning, check that the rated mains voltage and mains frequency stated on the type plate match your power supply.

Devices like these that generate direct current can influence simple earth leakage protection devices.

Use a type F or better, with a release current of max. 30mA

Before commissioning the charger, ensure that the air slots are free. Minimum distance to other objects is 5cm

6.1 Self-test

Plug in.

The warning display (4) and the operating indicator (3) light up one after the other for approx. 1 second and the installed fan runs for approx. 5 seconds.

7. Use

7.1 Charging battery pack

Push the battery pack completely to the stop on the sliding seat (2).

The operating indicator (3) flashes.

Note: To have the charge level displayed on Li-ion battery packs, first take the battery pack out of the charger and then press the button on the battery pack.

7.2 Conservation charge

Once the charging process has finished, the battery charger automatically switches to conservation mode.

The battery pack can remain in the battery charger and is therefore always ready for use.

7.3 ASC 290 only: Charge USB device

Only connect USB devices which are compatible with the USB standard. Using compatible devices can lead to malfunctions, age or injuries.

Open the cover (6) and plug a USB device with a suitable cable into the USB-C port (7). The device is charged.

The USB-C port (7) is only supplied with voltage (LED indicator (8) illuminated) if no battery pack is charged.

If a battery pack and USB device are connected at the same time, the USB charging process will start automatically after the end of the battery pack charging process.

8. Faults

8.1 Warning display (4) lights up continuously

Battery pack is not charged. Excessive/insufficient temperature. When the temperature of the battery

pack is between 0^ and 50^ , the charging process begins automatically.

ASC 290: Warning display (4) lights up continuously and charge status indicator (5) flashes: Charger is hot, or battery pack is cold or hot, battery pack is charged with reduced charging capacity.

8.2 Warning display (4) flashes

• Battery pack is defective. Remove the battery pack immediately from the charger.
• The battery pack was not pushed correctly onto the sliding seat (2). See chapter 7.1.
• ASC 290: Warning display (4) lights up and charge status indicator (5) is off: battery pack is not charged. charger too hot.

9. Repairs

Repairs to the charger must only be carried out by qualified electricians.

If the mains connection cable of this device is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or the Customer Service department of the manufacturer or a similarly qualified person to prevent endangering personnel and property.

10. Environmental Protection

Observe national regulations on environmentally compatible disposal and on the recycling of disused machines, packaging and accessories.
