Safety Information

WARNING!

The fluorescent lamp heats up during operation. Do not place any paper or such on the machine and do not touch the fluorescent lamp with bare hands. - Risk of tripping due to improperly laid cable!
Lay the cables so that nobody can trip over them!
ATTENTION!
- Risk of property damage!
Prevent exposure to environmental affects, e.g. from smoke, dust, vibration, chemicals, moisture, heat and direct sunlight.
Repairs may only be carried out by appropriately trained specialists.
Intended Use
The UV lamps with validation functions - subsequently referred to as UV lamps - serve to check the authenticity features of bank notes or credit cards. Any other use is considered unintended use. Unauthorised modification or reconstruction is not permitted. Under no circumstances open the machine or complete any repair work yourself.
A residual risk of failure to detect forged and/or counterfeit bank notes cannot be fully ruled out. In the same way, an authentic bank note can be detected as being faulty due to soiling or some other external influence. Therefore, test bank notes detected as being faulty several times and, in the case of doubt, consult your bank institution.
Only Use in Suitable Conditions
Prevent exposure to smoke, dust, vibration, chemicals, moisture, heat and direct sunlight.

Functions
The range of functions is dependent on the machine concerned.
UV lamp (UV 585, UV589)
Bank notes are provided with distinguishing features which can be rendered visible under UV light. In the case of counterfeit bank notes, all areas light up and not just the sections which contain the UV signatures.
Place the bank note in the machine.
Check the features (see 1 and 2 ).
The features are clearly visible.
i Please observe that older bank notes cannot always be conclusively identified as forgeries under UV light due to external effects.
Magnetism (UV 589)
Bank notes are provided with magnetic features applied by means of special ink. These features can be verified using a magnetic scanning sensor [1].
Place the bank note in the machine.
Press the bank note firmly onto the magnetic sensor [1] and move the bank note back and forth quickly (see 5).
The machine issues a short acoustic signal when the corresponding features are detected.
White light (UV 589)
Bank notes are provided with distinguishing features which can be rendered visible under white light. All the features appear on authentic bank notes and are described in 口 6.
Move the switch [2] to its front position.
The machine switches from UV to white light.
Place the bank note in the machine.
Check the security features under white light (see ^ 6).
The distinguishing features are clearly visible.
Magnifying glass (UV 589)
Bank notes are provided with distinguishing features which can be rendered visible under a magnifying glass.
Place the bank note in the machine.
Check the features (see ^0 4
The microprints are highly detailed and easily detectably.
Operation
Switching the UV lamp on and off
Switch the UV lamp on and off using the switch [3].

UV 589
Move the switch [2] to its rear position.
Wait for about one minute after switching the machine on for the lamp to heat up to its optimum operating temperature.
i If the machine will not be used for a longer period, disconnect it from the power outlet.
The machine is equipped with a pivoting support on the rear side which enables it to be set at an angle.
Changing the UV Lamp (Fluorescent Lamp)

WARNING!
- Risk of electric shock through bare contacts!
Only put the machine into operation when the cover covers the contacts properly.

CAUTION!
- Risk of fire/burns!
The fluorescent lamp heats up during operation.
Disconnect the machine from the power supply and wait until the fluorescent lamp has cooled down.
Do not take hold of the fluorescent lamp with your bare hands.
- Property damage!
The fluorescent lamps are made of fragile material and can break.
Do not take hold of the fluorescent lamp with your bare hands.
Use medium soft materials, such as plastic, for levering purposes.
UV 589
Lever the protective cap carefully over the holder (e.g. using a suitable piece of plastic).
Take hold of the fluorescent lamp in both hands and turn the fluorescent lamp 90^ (1/4 of a revolution) towards you.
The holder is unlocked.
Remove the fluorescent lamp.
Take hold of the new fluorescent lamp in both hands and install the fluorescent lamp.
Turn the fluorescent lamp 90^ (\% of a revolution) in the opposite direction.
Replace the protective cap.
UV 585
Turn the machine over so that the base plate is at the top. Pull the base plate in the direction of the imprinted arrow from the rest of the housing.
- Carefully lever the protective cap up about 2mm over the holder (e.g. using a suitable piece of plastic).
Pull the protective cap about 1.5 ~cm outwards.
The protective cap is released from its guide.
Remove the protective cap carefully over the holder (e.g. using a suitable piece of plastic).
The holder is unlocked.
Remove the fluorescent lamp.
Install the new fluorescent lamp.
Mount the protective cap on the holder from the outside.
Slide the protective cap about 1.5cm inwards onto the guide until you notice a little resistance.
Use a little force to slide the protective cap further, overcoming this resistance.
The protective cap latches audibly in place.
Insert the base plate back in the housing.

Maintenance
Clean the surface of the housing with a soft, fluff-free cloth.
Clean the UV fluorescent lamp with a soft cloth moistened with a little rubbing alcohol.
Do not use any cleaning agents or solvents.
Disposal

The adjacent symbol indicates that old electrical and electronic apparatus and batteries must be disposed of separate from normal
household waste, in compliance with legal requirements.
Packaging materials must be disposed of according to local regulations.
