Noise and vibration values have been de- termined according to the standards and regulations mentioned in the declaration of conformity. The stated vibration emission value was measured in accordance with a standard testing procedure and may be used to compare one power tool to another. The stated vibration emission value may also be used for a preliminary exposure assessment.20 GB IE

Warning: The vibration emission

value may differ during actual use of the power tool from the stated value depending on the manner in which the power tool is used. Try to keep the exposure to vibrations as low as possible. An example of how to reduce vibration exposure is limiting the working hours. For this purpose all parts of the operating cycle have to be considered (for example, times when the electric tool is switched off and times when it is switched on but run- ning without any load). Safety instructions Ensure that the safety instructions are ob- served when operating the appliance. Symbols and icons Symbols on the appliance: Carefully read these operating in- structions. Wear personal protective equip- ment. Wear eye protection! Wear hearing protection! Wear a dust protection mask! This device is part of the Park- side X12VTEAM series Electrical appliances must not be disposed of with the domestic waste. The impact drilling function must not be used when the keyless chuck is attached. Symbols in the manual Warning symbols with in- formation on damage and injury prevention. Hazard symbol with infor- mation on the prevention of personal injury caused by electric shock. Instruction symbols with information on preventing damage. Help symbols with information on improving tool handling. General safety instructions for power tools WARNING! Read all safety notices, instructions, illustra- tions and technical data that have been provided with this power tool. Omissions in the compliance with safety directions and instructions can cause electrical shock, re and/or severe injuries. Retain all safety directions and in- structions for future use. The term “Power Tools” used in the safety instructions refers to mains-operated power tools (with power cord) and to battery-op- erated power tools (without power cord).

a) Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents. b) Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as inthepresenceofammable Iiquids, gases or dust. Power tools21 GB IE

a) Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating a power tool. Do not use a power tool while youaretiredorundertheinu- ence of drugs, alcohol or medi- cation. A moment of inattention white operating power tools may result in serious personal injury. b) Use personal protective equip- ment. Always wear eye protec- tion. Protective equipment such as dust mask, non-slip safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing protection used for appropriate conditions will reduce per- sonal injuries. c) Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switch is in the off-po- sition before connecting to power source and/or battery pack, picking up or carrying the tool. Carrying power tools with your nger on the switch or energising power tools that have the switch on invites accidents. d) Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning the pow- er tool on. A wrench or a key left at- tached to a rotating part of the power tool may result in personal injury. e) Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This enables better control of the power tool in unexpected situations. f) Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Keep your hair, clothing and gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewellery or long hair can be caught in moving parts. g) If dust extraction and collection devices can be installed, make create sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes. c) Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control.

2) ELECTRICAL SAFETY

a) Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Do not use any adapter plugs with earthed (grounded) power tools. Unmodi- ed plugs and matching outlets will reduce risk of electric shock. b) Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces, such as pipes, radiators, ranges and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed or grounded. c) Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of electric shock. d) Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carrying, pulling or unplugging the power tool. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts. Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of electric shock. e) When operating a power tool outdoors, use an extension cord suitable for outdoor use. Use of a cord suitable for outdoor use reduces the risk of electric shock. f) If operating a power tool in a damp location is unavoidable, use a residual current device (RCD) protected supply. Use of an RCD reduces the risk of electric shock.22 GB IE sure that these are connected and used correctly. Use of dust collection can reduce dust-related haz- ards. h) Do not allow yourself to be lulled into a false sense of se- curity and do not disregard the safety rules for power tools, even if you are familiar with the power tool after using it many times. Careless action can lead to serious injuries within a fraction of a second.

4) POWER TOOL USE AND CARE

a) Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application. The correct pow- er tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it was designed. b) Do not use the power tool if the switch does not turn it on and off. Any power tool that cannot be controlled with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired. c) Remove the plug from the wall socket and/or remove the re- chargeable battery before you change the device’s settings, change accessory parts or put away the power tool. Such pre- ventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting the power tool accidentaIly. d) Store idle power tools out of the reach of children and do not allow persons unfamiliar with the power tool or these instruc- tions to operate the power tool. Power tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users. e) Look after the power tool and application tool carefully. Check for misalignment or binding of moving parts, breakage of parts and any other condition that may affect the power tool’s operation. If damaged, have the power tool repaired before use. Many accidents are caused by poorly main- tained power tools. f) Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges are less Iikely to bind and are easier to control. g) Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits etc. in accordance with these instructions, tak- ing into account the working conditions and the work to be performed. Use of the power tool for operations different from those intended could result in a hazardous situation. h) Ensure that the vents are free of soiling.

i) Remove the battery pack from

the power tool - whenever the user no longer remains in the vicinity of the machine. - before the removal of blockages. - before checking, cleaning or working on the machine. - after touching a foreign body in order to check the machine for damage. - for an immediate check if the machine begins to vibrate excessively.

7) ADDITIONAL SAFETY

INSTRUCTIONS a) Hold the appliance by the insu- lated gripping surfaces when performing work in which the tool may come into contact with hidden wiring. Contact with a live wire can also cause a charge in metal parts of the appliance and result in an electric shock.

Hold the device by the insulated gripping surfaces when perform- ing work in which the cutting tool may come into contact with hidden wiring or its own cord. If the screw were to come into contact with a live electrical cable, metal parts of the appliance could also become live and cause an electric shock.

Even if properly operating and handling this electric tool, some residual risks will remain. Due to its construction and build, this electric tool may present the following hazards: a) Cuts b) Ear damage if working without ear protection. c) Damage to your health caused by swinging your hands and arms when operating the appliance for longer pe- riods of time or if the unit is not held or maintained properly. Warning! During operation, this electric tool generates an electro- magnetic eld which, under certain circumstances, may impair the functionality of active or passive medical implants. To reduce the risk of serious or lethal injuries, we rec- ommend that persons with medical implants consult their doctor and the manufacturer of their medical im- plant before operating the machine. Warning! Observe the safety information in the operating instructions for your Parkside X 12 V Team series recharge- able battery. Initial start-up Place the rotational direction switch into the central position before car- rying out any work with the electri- cal tool (e.g. maintenance, change of tool etc.), as well as during transportation and storage. There is a risk of injury if the on-off switch is accidentally activated. Checking the battery charge level The battery’s (

remove the battery pack ( 9). Selecting a tool An SDS Plus attachment tool is required for impact drilling. Use the keyless chuck with SDS Plus adap- ter for drilling without impact into wood, metal, ceramic and plastic. You can insert cylindrical drill bits with a diameter of 0.8 - 10 mm into this chuck, or an attachment tool with a hexagonal shaft. For screwing, use the screw bits that are inserted via the keyless chuck with SDS Plus adapter. The “impact drilling” operating mode may only be used if the key- less chuck is not attached! Changing the tool The tool holder with SDS Plus adapter allows you to change the attachment tool easily and conveniently without use of ad- ditional tools. The attachment tool is freely movable for technical reasons. This causes a concen- tricity deviation during idling but this has no effect on the accuracy of the bore hole since the drill centres itself automatically while drilling. The device is capable of using various drill bit types featuring a hexagonal or cylind- rical shaft thanks to the keyless chuck with SDS Plus adapter. The dust protection cap (2) largely prevents the ingress of drilling dust into the tool holder during operation. Ensure the dust protection cap (2) is not damaged when inserting tools. If damaged, the dust protection cap must be replaced immediately. It is re- commended for this to be performed by customer service. Inserting an SDS Plus tool
