Auto Scroll will automatically flip through the active training screens while you are using the workout modes. Scroll speeds made available:
- There are instances when you’ll be required to activate a feature after you have edited the feature. Always remember to check the status of the feature before backing out of the setting mode. GPS: On or Off NOTE: GPS is not available in Swim mode. By default, the GPS function is set to On. Keep in mind, this setting controls whether the watch will search for satellites when a workout is started. It is recommended that you keep GPS setting to On. Race Mode: On, Race Distance, Off. Race Mode provides you with helpful information while competing in races. Don’t you hate it when your GPS times out while you are in the hopper waiting to start the race? Or when you spend half of the race calculating your finish time in your head? Those days are over. When activated, Race Mode:
- Keeps the GPS activated, no matter how long it takes you to get to the start line.
- Provides an additional Training Page that uses your Current Pace to estimate:24 o Race Time: Estimated race time. o Finish Time: Time of Day the race will be complete. o Dist. Left: Distance remaining to finish the race. Your TIMEX IRONMAN GPS watch is preloaded with common race distances. Run Race Distances Bike Race Distances Custom is available as an option for Run and Bike. Custom allows you to key in the exact distance of the Race you are participating in. Distance can be given in miles or kilometers. Once activated, Race Mode will stay on until you turn it off. By default, the Race Mode setting is Off. NOTE: Not available in Swim or Other modes.25 Intervals: Warm Up, Segment 1, Segment 2, Cool Down, Reps. The Interval function allows you to setup a workout that repeats active and rest segments. You are also offered the option to include a warm-up and/or cool-down segment. Warm-up and Cool-down segments can be Off or be set by Time. Segments 1 and 2 can be set by Time or Distance. Distance settings will be either miles or kilometers, based on the Unit selection made during First Time Setup. Repeats can be set from 1 to 99. Interval settings will be saved and stay in the watch until they are manually changed. NOTE: Not available in Swim mode.26 Auto Lap: On, Distance, Time, Off. Auto Lap (Automatic Lap) records a Lap/Split automatically. Meaning, every time you have travelled a set distance or time, the watch will automatically take a Lap and record:
- Lap Time: How much time has passed since the last Lap/Split or how much time has passed since the workout started.
- Lap Pace/Speed: Average Pace/Speed travelled during the previous Lap. Auto Lap can be set to Distance or Time. Distance settings will be either miles or kilometers, based on the Unit selection made during First Time Setup. NOTE: In Swim, Auto Lap can only be set to Time. By default, the Auto Lap setting is active and set to 1 mile or 1 km (based on the units selected during First Time Setup).27 Alerts: Eat & Drink: On, repeating by time, Off. Eat & Drink are separate repeatable alerts, they are meant to be used to alert you that it is time to consume nutrition or to take a drink.
Once all settings are complete, don’t forget to turn the feature On. On-screen icons will appear to indicate you have activated Eat and/or Drink Alert. Once activated, Eat and Drink Alerts will stay on until you turn them off. By default, Eat & Drink Alerts are turned Off. Pace/Speed: On, Pace/Speed, Range, Off. Pace/Speed Alerts will be on throughout the workout. The watch will alert you when you are travelling “too fast”, “too slow” or “on target” (based on your settings).28 This feature can be set using Pace or Speed metrics. Range is useful because it allows you to describe how much flexibility you want when receiving Pace/Speed Alerts. For example (pictured below): With the Pace set to 10:00 minutes per mile and the Range set to 30 seconds the watch will give the following alerts:
- Too Slow: When you are moving at a pace of 10:30.
- Too Fast: When you are moving at a pace of 9:30. Pace/Speed Alerts are threshold alerts. They will alert you when you pass the threshold, but will not continue to alert you if you never return to the described range. Once all settings are complete, don’t forget to turn the feature On. On-screen icons will appear to indicate you have activated Pace Alert. By default, Pace/Speed Alerts are turned Off. Distance: On, non-repeating by distance, Out & Back, Off. Distance Alerts allow you to set a single, non-repeating alert for a specified distance.29
Your TIMEX IRONMAN GPS watch offers Out & Back functionality. Based on the distance selected, the Out & Back feature will alert you when you have completed half of the specific distance. For example: You want to run five miles today, but you have a limited amount of time and you need to get back home ASAP. Out & Back helps you by letting you know when you are halfway to your goal (2.5 miles). You can turn back now and still hit your distance goal for the day. Once all settings are complete, don’t forget to turn the feature On. On-screen icons will appear to indicate you have activated both Distance and Out & Back Alerts. By default, Distance Alerts are turned Off. Time: On, non-repeating by time, Out & Back, Off. Time Alerts allow you to set a single, non-repeating alert for a specified time.30
Your TIMEX IRONMAN GPS watch offers Out & Back functionality. Based on the Time selected, the Out & Back feature will alert you when you have completed half of the specific time. For example: You want to run for 45 minutes today, but you have a limited amount of time to workout and you need to get back home ASAP. Out & Back helps you by letting you know when you are halfway to your goal (22.5 minutes). You can turn back now and still hit your time goal for the day.
Once all settings are complete, don’t forget to turn the feature On. On-screen icons will appear to indicate you have activated both the Time and the Out & Back Alerts. By default, Time Alerts are turned Off. Run-Walk: On, Repeating alternating alerts by time, Off.31 Run-Walk Alerts allow you to set alternating time based alerts. These alerts are simply indicators to you that it is time to run or time to walk, they do not affect the way the watch records your workout data.
Once all settings are complete, don’t forget to turn the feature On. On-screen icons will appear to indicate you have activated Run-Walk Alert. By default, Run-Walk Alerts are turned Off.32 Each sport mode supports its own set of Alerts (see the table below). Available Alerts
