- Remove any packing materials completely.
- Clean the appliance as described in the section Cleaning and care.
Operation
Ice-cream bowl
- To make ice-cream, the ice-cream bowl must be chilled at a minimum of -18°C for at least 8 hours.
- When handling the bowl, ensure that your hands are dry or use suitable gloves.
- Verify that the ice-cream bowl is
thoroughly chilled, by shaking it if no liquid appears to move inside, the required degree of chilling has been reached.
Hint:
To prevent the contents of the bowl from melting, the bowl should only be taken from the freezer shortly before use.
- If the bowl is kept permanently in a freezer, you will be able to make ice-cream at any time.
Preparation
• Cool the ice-cream bowl for approx. 8 hours (see section Ice-cream bowl).
- Prepare all ingredients according to the chosen recipe. The maximum fill capacity is 1 litre.
- Place the chilled ice-cream bowl into the housing.
- Place the drive unit into the lid and fit the stirring insert into the drive mechanism on the drive unit.
- Place the lid and drive unit onto the housing and push the assembly down lightly until it is heard locking into place.
- Insert the plug into a suitable wall outlet.
- Use the On/Off switch to turn the unit on. The bowl starts rotating.
- Feed the ingredients slowly through the chute into the bowl.
- Depending on the temperature of the ice bowl and the ingredients, the desired consistency of the ice-cream should be achieved after 20 to 40 minutes.
- After a certain time, the motor reverses direction. Such changes of direction becoming frequent at short intervals indicates that the ice-cream has reached a firm consistency, and at this point the appliance should be switched off without
delay.
- Remove the plug from the wall outlet.
- Push the lid release and remove the lid and drive unit from the housing.
- Use a plastic spatula or other suitable implement to remove the ice-cream.
Caution: do not use any metal objects.
- If you prefer a firmer consistency, transfer the ice-cream into an air-tight container and place it in a freezer until the desired consistency is reached.
- It is also possible to place the entire ice-cream bowl with the ice-cream into a freezer, but only for a short while. Do not leave the ice-cream in the freezer for more than 30 minutes while still in the bowl, since the ice-cream might freeze onto the wall of the bowl, causing damage.
Hints
- All warm or hot mixtures should be allowed to cool down in a fridge before they are put into the ice-cream bowl.
- Food aromas are generally stronger before chilling; likewise, sweetness is reduced when the food is frozen.
- Sugar may be replaced by artificial sweeteners.
- When using yoghurt, any excess water should be drained off first.
- Nuts, fruits and other ingredients should be chilled before use, and only added to the ice-cream 1 - 3 minutes before the preparation is finished.
- All ingredients that do not require prior cooking or heating are best prepared in an electric blender to increase the volume of the mixture.
- When using eggs in a recipe, it is advisable to heat up the mixture in order
to eliminate any bacteria.
- The taste of sorbets (fruit ice-cream) largely depends on the ripeness and sweetness of the fruit used.
- For longer-term storage of the ice-cream in a freezer, it should be put in a suitable air-tight container.
- As ice-cream is being made, the volume of the mixture increases. The maximum fill capacity of 1 litre must therefore not be exceeded.
