The grill stone may only be cleaned under running water. For detailed information on cleaning the appliance, please refer to the section General care and cleaning. ∙ This appliance may be used by children (at least 8 years of age) and by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lacking experience and knowledge, provided they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the appliance and fully GB9 understand all dangers and safety precautions involved. ∙ Children must not be permitted to play with the appliance. ∙ Children must not be permitted to carry out any cleaning or maintenance work on the appliance unless they are supervised and at least 8 years of age. ∙ The appliance and its power cord must be kept well away from children under 8 at all times. ∙ Caution: Keep any packaging materials well away from children – these are a potential source of danger, e.g. of suffocation. ∙ Every time the appliance is used, the main body including the power cord as well as any attachment fi tted should be checked thoroughly for any defects. Should the appliance, for instance, have been dropped onto a hard surface, or if excessive force has been used to pull the power cord, it must no longer be used: even invisible damage may have adverse effects on the operational safety of the appliance. ∙ The surfaces of the appliance, the reversible grill plate, grill stone and mini- pans become hot during use. How to use your grill Before fi rst use ∙ Remove any packing materials completely. ∙ Before using the grill for the fi rst time, clean the reversible grill plate, grill stone and mini-pans with a damp cloth. ∙ Heat up the appliance and mini-pans for about 10 minutes, without any food, to10 eliminate the smell typically encountered when fi rst switching on a grill (a small amount of smoke may be noticeable). For that reason, adequate ventilation should be ensured by opening windows or balcony doors. ∙ Clean the appliance afterwards as described in General care and cleaning. Grill stone ∙ Fit the stone on to the appliance over the heating element, with the polished side up. Caution: avoid placing a cold stone onto a hot element. ∙ The stone can be used for cooking vegetables, sliced meat or fi sh etc. as required. ∙ This stone is entirely natural material. Small cracks resulting from natural expansion and contraction during heating and cooling, as well as a change to a darker colour are normal and have no detrimental effects. ∙ Do not place any frozen food or items containing vinegar (such as pickled gherkins or mustard) on the stone. Reversible grill plate ∙ Fit the grill plate on to the appliance over the heating element. ∙ With the ribbed side facing upwards, the grill plate can be used for grilling in the normal way. The grill plate should be lightly greased before use. The reverse side is suitable for cooking 4 small crêpes or pancakes. Variable thermostat and indicator light If the thermostat control is set to its highest setting (hard to the right), the heating element will be switched on most of the time. If the thermostat is moved to the left (lower setting), the heating element will switch off from time to time and then switch on again. The yellow indicator light remains lit as long as the heating element is switched on. After use, return the thermostat to its lowest setting and unplug the appliance from the mains supply. Operation ∙ Place the grill stone and the reversible grill plate on the unit, ensuring that the locating groove on the grill stone is properly secured by the corresponding lugs on the holding bracket. For safe operation, the additional ridge on the grill plate must sit securely in front of the lugs on the holding bracket. ∙ Insert the plug into a suitable wall socket and push the thermostat all the way to the right. ∙ Let the appliance preheat for about 10 minutes to reach the required temperature. However, the grill stone requires a pre-heating time of around 25 minutes. ∙ Place the food to be cooked on the grill plate or on the stone as required. The grill plate can also be used for preparing crêpes or pancakes. ∙ Put the raclette cheese into the mini-pans. Place the mini-pans in the appliance, under the heating element, and leave them until the cheese has melted.

Warning: Do not place empty mini-pans

in the appliance while it is switched on. ∙ When grilling is fi nished, push the thermostat all the way to the left and unplug the appliance from the mains.11 How to prepare raclette cheese Use about 200 to 300 grammes of cheese per person. Cut the cheese into slices of about 3 to 5 mm thickness and put them into the mini-pans. It is preferable to use original raclette cheese. Any other fast melting cheese, however, is also suitable. Practical hints ∙ Frozen food should always be properly thawed before it is cooked. ∙ To avoid damage to the coating of grill plate and mini-pans, use only non- abrasive utensils. ∙ When grilling larger amounts of food, the accumulated fat should be carefully removed from time to time. General care and cleaning ∙ Before cleaning the appliance, always make sure that the plug has been removed from the wall socket and allow the appliance to cool down. ∙ To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not clean the appliance with water and do not immerse it in water. ∙ Do not use abrasives or harsh cleaning solutions. ∙ Wipe the outer surfaces of the grill with a clean damp cloth. ∙ Remove the grill plate and rinse it in a little hot water. If necessary, some mild detergent may be used. Wipe thoroughly dry again with a soft cloth. ∙ Before the stone is removed for cleaning, ensure it has cooled down completely. Clean the stone with a synthetic sponge under running water without detergent. Wipe thoroughly dry afterwards with a soft cloth. Do not immerse the stone in water. ∙ Clean the mini-pans in warm soapy water and dry them thoroughly afterwards.
