III - Safety instructions
WARNING! Read all safety warnings and all instructions. Failure to follow the warnings and instructions may result in electric shock, fire and/or serious injury.
Save all warnings and instructions for future reference. The term "power tool" in the warnings refers to your mains-operated (corded) power tool or battery-operated (cordless) power tool.
SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS
- Work area safety a) Keep work area clean and well lit Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents
b) Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases or dust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes.
c) Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control. - Electrical safety a) Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Do not use any adapter plugs with earthed (grounded) power tools. Unmodified plugs and matching outlets will reduce risk of electric shock.
b) Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces, such as pipes, radiators, ranges and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed or grounded.
c) Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of electric shock.
d) Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carrying, pulling or unplugging the power tool. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts. Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of electric shock.
e) When operating a power tool outdoors, use
an extension cord suitable for outdoor use. Use of a cord suitable for outdoor use reduces the risk of electric shock.
If operating a power tool in a damp location is unavoidable, use a residual current device (RCD) protected supply. Use of an RCD reduces the risk of electric shock.
Personal safety
a) Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating a power tool. Do not use a power tool while you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention while operating power tools may result in serious personal injury.
b) Use personal protective equipment. Always wear eye protection. Protective equipment such as dust mask, non-skied safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing protection used for appropriate conditions will reduce personal injuries.
c) Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switch is in the off-position before connecting to power source and/or battery pack, picking up or carrying the tool. Carrying power tools with your finger on the switch or energising power tools that have the switch on invites accidents.
d) Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning the power tool on. A wrench or a key left attached to a rotating part of the power tool may result in personal injury.
e) Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This enables better control of the power tool in unexpected situations.
1) Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Keep your hair, clothing and gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewellery or long hair can be caught in moving parts.
g) If devices are provided for the connection of dust extraction and collection facilities, ensure these are connected and properly used. Use of dust collection can reduce dust-related hazards.

- Power tool use and care
a) Do not force the power tool. Use the
correct power tool for your application. The correct power tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it was designed.
b) Do not use the power tool if the switch
does not turn it on and off. Any power tool that cannot be controlled with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired
c) Disconnect the plug from the power source and/or the battery pack from the power tool before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing power
tools. Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting the power tool accidentally.
d) Store Idle power tools out of the reach of children and do not allow persons unfamiliar with the power tool or these instructions to operate the power tool. Power tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users.
a) Maintain power tools. Check for misalignment or binding of moving parts, breakage of parts and any other condition that may affect the power tool's operation. If damaged, have the power tool repaired before use. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools.
1) Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges are less likely to bind and are easier to control.
g) Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits etc. In accordance with those Instructions, taking into account the working conditions and the work to be performed. Use of the power tool for operations different from those intended could result in a hazardous situation.
h) Keep handle dry, clean and free from oil and grease. Slippery handles do not allow for safe handling and control of the tool in unexpected situations.
- Service
a) Have your power tool serviced by a qualified repair person using only identical replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the power tool is maintained.
b) If the replacement of the supply cord is necessary, this has to be done by the manufacturer or his agent in order to avoid a safety hazard.
WARNING! This machine produces an electromagnetic field during operation. This field may under some circumstances interfere with active or passive medical implants. To reduce the risk of serious or fatal injury, we recommend persons with medical implants to consult their physician and the medical implant manufacturer before operating this machine. - Hedge trimmer safety warnings a) Keep all parts of the body away from the cutter blade. Do not remove cut material or hold material to be cut when blades are moving. Make sure the switch is off when clearing jammed material. A moment of inattention while operating the hedge trimmer may result in serious personal injury.
b) Carry the hedge trimmer by the handle with the cutter blade stopped. When transporting or storing the hedge trimmer always fit the cutting device cover. Proper handling of the hedge trimmer will reduce possible personal injury from the cutter blades
a) Hold the power tool by insulated gripping surfaces only, because the cutter blade may contact hidden wiring or its own cord. Cutter blades contacting a "live" wire may make exposed metal parts of the power tool "live" and could give the operator an electric shock.
d) Keep cable away from cutting area. During operation the cable may be hidden in shrubs and can be accidentally cut by the blade.
e) Check the hedge for foreign objects before operation, e.g. wire fences.
f). Use a residual current device with a tripping current of 30mA or less.
g). Hold the hedge trimmer properly, e.g. with both hands if two handles are provided. Loss of control can cause personal injury.
- ADDITIONAL SAFETY RULES FOR HEDGE TRIMMER

1 Fitting the safety guard
NOTE: Your hedge trimmer may already have the safety guard fitted. If not, follow these instructions: Before fitting the safety guard, first remove the blade sheath. Fit the safety guard on the trimmer and secure it with the two screws. (See Fig.1)
2 Power connection
The hedge trimmer can be connected to any socket (with 230VAC alternating current).
1) We recommend that you always use the appliance supplied via a Residual Current Device (RCD) with a tripping current of not more than 30mA .
2) Use only extension cables suitable for outdoor use, preferably with a high visibility cord, with the following specification:
For extension cables up to 15m use a wire cross section of 1.5mm^2
For extension cables over 15m and less than 40m, use a wire cross section of 2.5mm^2
3) Mains leads on hedge trimmer are
particularly susceptible to insulation damage. The causes of this include the following:
- Cut the cable by passing over it with the hedge trimmer;
- Damage through crushing if the mains lead is routed under doors or windows.
- Cracks caused by ageing of the insulation sheath.
Kinks caused by incorrect fastening or routing of the mains lead.
4) Such damaged mains leads should not be used under any circumstances as they may cause fatal injuries due to their damaged insulation sheath.
3 Check your hedge trimmer before use
1) Make sure the safety guard is securely fixed on the body.
2) Check the blade for any breakage or damage. If damaged, repair immediately.
3) Before connecting your hedge trimmer to the power supply, check the cable and extension cable for damage.
A Do not use
4 Intended use
The hedge trimmer is designed to cut and shape normal hedges, do not use for other purposes. The hedge trimmer is designed for cutting tree branches, which in diameter are not more than 20mm .
NOTE: Check the area to be cut, ensure no metal wires or stakes visible.
WARNING! Before operate your hedge trimmer, be sure to read the instruction manual carefully.
A
WARNING! Before start the hedge trimmer, you need check the saw blades are not blunt and the fastening elements are undamaged. In order to prevent imbalance, replace blunt and/or damaged saw blades.
Always switch off the motor and pull out the mains plug before starting such a check.

ERGO TOOLS
1 Cable routing
Always route the electric cable away from the work area to prevent it coming into contact with the blade. Plan your route before starting work. Start your work at the nearest point to the electrical outlet, and work away from this. This will keep the cable away from the hedge trimmer and avoid it being accidentally cut. Keep the cable over your shoulder for added safety. For tension relief of the cable, form a loop of the end of the extension cable and bring this through the opening at the handle and suspend in the cable hook. (See Fig.2)
2 Starting and stopping
Starting
The hedge trimmer is fitted with a safety switch feature. To start the hedge trimmer, simply depress the safety switch (4) on the front handle with one hand and depress the ON/OFF switch (5) with the other hand. (See Fig.3a & 3b)
Stopping
To switch the trimmer OFF, release either the safety switch or the ON/OFF switch. NOTE: Do not use the switch trigger intermittently.
3 Trimming new growth
A wide, sweeping motion, feeding the blade teeth through the twigs is most effective. A slight downward tilt of the blade, in the direction of motion gives the best cutting.

CAUTION! Do not use the
trimmer for cut stems greater than 20mm Use the trimmer only for cutting normal shrubbery found around houses and buildings.
4 Important tips for trimming hedges
Assume a stable posture and hold trimmer with both hands. If using a stepladder make sure it is securely located and if working on high hedge, tie the ladder to the thicker inner branches of the hedge for added support.
-
Ensure there are no bystanders or animals are in the work area.
-
Always direct the power cable towards the back of you, preferably over your shoulder.
5 Cutting sequence
1) First trim the sides from the bottom upwards. This prevents debris from falling into the area which has yet to be cut. (See Fig.4)
2) Try to keep the blade angled at approximately 5^ to the work surface. This will improve the cutting efficiency of the trimmer. (See Fig.5)
3) Then cut the top of the hedge. If the hedge is very long, cut in stages rather than trying to cut the en-tire length in at one time. (See Fig.6)
6 Cutting shaping
We recommend shaping the hedge into a trapezoidal shape, which is wider at the bottom than the top. This will improve light penetration. (See Fig.7)
7 Optimal trimming
Green leaf hedges are best trimmed between June and October, evergreens should be trimmed in April and August, while conifers and other fast growing shrubs can be trimmed every 6-8 weeks.
8 Older hedges
When older hedges need to be cut back substantially, cut the thicker branches back with pruning shears before using the trimmer. Take care that the blade does not come into
