Levels of noise and vibration were deter- mined according to the standards and reg- ulations in the declaration of conformity. The vibration emission value has been measured according to a standardised test- ing method and may be used for compari- son with another power tool. The indicated vibration emission value may also be used for an introductory assess- ment of the exposure.

Warning: The vibration emission

value may differ during actual use of the power tool from the stated value depending on the manner in which the power tool is used. Try to keep the exposure to vibra- tions as low as possible. Examples of measures to reduce vibration exposure are the wearing of gloves when using the tool and limiting the working hours. For this purpose all parts of the operating cycle have to be considered (for example, times when the electric tool is switched off and times when it is switched on but running without any load).25 GB IE General Safety Directions for Power Tools WARNING! Read all safety notices, instruc- tions, illustrations and technical data that have been provided with this power tool. Omissions in the compliance with safety directions and instructions can cause electrical shock, re and/or severe injuries. Retain all safety directions and instructions for future use. The term „power tool“ in the warn- ings refers to your mains-operated (corded) power tool or battery- operated (cordless) power tool).

a) Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered or dark ar- eas invite accidents. b) Do not operate power tools in explosive atmos- pheres, such as in the presence of ammable Iiquids, gases or dust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes. c) Keep children and by- standers away while op- erating a power tool. Dis- tractions can cause you to lose control. 2) ELECTRICAL SAFETY

a) Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Do not use any adapter plugs with earthed (grounded) power tools. Unmodied plugs and matching outlets will reduce risk of electric shock. b) Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded sur- faces, such as pipes, ra- diators, ranges and refrig- erators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed or grounded. c) Do not expose power tools to rain or wet condi- tions. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of elec- tric shock. d) Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carrying, pulling or un- plugging the power tool. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts. Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of electric shock. e) When operating a power tool outdoors, use an ex- tension cord suitable for outdoor use. Use of a cord suitable for outdoor use reduces the risk of electric shock. f) If operation of the power tool in a damp environ- ment is unavoidable, please use a residual cur- rent circuitry. The use of a residual current circuitry reduces the risk of an electric shock.

a) Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating a power tool. Do not use a power tool while you are tired or un- der the inuence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention white op- erating power tools may result in serious personal injury. b) Use personal protective equipment. Always wear eye protection. Protective equipment such as dust mask, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing protection used for appropriate conditions will re- duce personal injuries. c) Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switch is in the off-position be- fore connecting to power source and/or battery pack, picking up or carry- ing the tool. Carrying power tools with your nger on the switch or energising power tools that have the switch on invites accidents. d) Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turn- ing the power tool on. A wrench or a key left attached to a rotating part of the power tool may result in personal injury. e) Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and bal- ance at all times. This ena-27 GB IE bles better control of the power tool in unexpected situations. f) Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Keep your hair, clothing and gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewellery or long hair can be caught in moving parts. g) If dust extraction and col- lection devices can be installed, make sure that these are connected and used correctly. Use of dust collection can reduce dust-relat- ed hazards. h) Do not allow yourself to be lulled into a false sense of security and do not dis- regard the safety rules for power tools, even if you are familiar with the pow- er tool after using it many times. Careless action can lead to serious injuries within a fraction of a second.

4) POWER TOOL USE AND

CARE a) Do not force the power tool. Use the correct pow- er tool for your applica- tion. The correct power tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it was de- signed. b) Do not use the power tool if the switch does not turn it on and off. Any power tool that cannot be controlled with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired. c) Remove the plug from the wall socket and/or remove the rechargeable battery before you change the device’s settings, change accessory parts or put away the power tool. Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting the power tool accidentaIly. d) Store idle power tools out of the reach of children and do not allow persons unfamiliar with the power tool or these instructions to operate the power tool. Power tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users. e) Look after the power tool and application tool care- fully. Check for misalign- ment or binding of moving parts, breakage of parts and any other condition that may affect the power tool’s operation. If dam- aged, have the power tool repaired before use. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools. f) Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly main- tained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges are less Iikely to bind and are easier to control. g) Use the power tool, ac- cessories and tool bits etc. in accordance with these instructions, taking into account the working con- ditions and the work to be performed. Use of the power28 GB IE tool for operations different from those intended could result in a hazardous situation. h) Keep handles and grip surfaces dry, clean and free from oil and grease. Slippery handles and grip sur- faces do not permit safe opera- tion and control over the power tool in unexpected situations.

a) Charge the batteries only in chargers that are rec- ommended by the manu- facturer. Risk of re if a charger that is suitable for a specic type of battery is used with other batteries. b) In the power tools, use only the batteries de- signed for the purpose. The use of other batteries may result in injuries and risk of re. c) Keep the unused battery away from paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws and other small metal ob- jects, which could cause bridging of the contacts. A short circuit between the battery contacts may cause burns or re. d) If used incorrectly, liquid may leak from the bat- tery. Avoid contact with this. In the event of ac- cidental contact, rinse off with water. If the liquid gets into eyes, seek medical assis- tance. Leaking battery uid may cause skin irritations or burns. e) Do not use damaged or altered batteries. Damaged or altered batteries can be un- predictable and lead to re, explosion or risk of injury. f) Do not expose batteries to re or elevated tempera- tures. Fire or temperatures over 130°C can cause an explosion. g) Follow all instructions for charging and never charge the battery or the battery-powered tool outside the temperature range stated in the oper- ating instructions. Incorrect charging or charging outside the permitted temperature range may destroy the battery and in- crease the risk of re.

a) Have your power tool ser- viced by a qualied repair person using only identi- cal replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the power tool is maintained. b) Never repair damaged batteries. All battery repairs should be carried out by the manufacturer or authorised cus- tomer service centres only. Additional safety instructions

  • Hold the electric tool by the insulated gripping sur- faces when performing work in which the cutting tool may come into con- tact with hidden wiring.29 GB IE Contact with a live wire can also cause a charge in metal parts of the device and result in an electric shock.
  • Fasten and secure the workpiece by means of clamps or with another method on a stable under- ground. If you hold the work- piece only with your hand or against your own body, it will stay instable and this can lead to a loss of control.
  • Do not use any accessories that are not recommended by PARKSIDE. This can result in electric shock or re. Observe the safety in- formation and notes on charging and proper use as shown in the instruction manual for your battery and charg- er from the Parkside X20VTeam series. A detailed description of the charging process and further information can be found in the sep- arate operating instruc- tions. Additional safety instructions for sabre saws
  • Keep hands away from the sawing area. Do not reach un- derneath the workpiece. Upon contact with the blade there is a risk of injury.
  • Move the power tool against the workpiece only when it is turned on. Otherwise, there is a risk of kickback if the attachment tools jam in the workpiece.
  • Make sure that the footplate is secure during sawing. A tilted saw blade may break or cause a kickback.
  • After you have nished work, turn the power tool off and do not pull the saw blade out of the cut until it has come to a stand- still. In this way you will avoid any kickback and can safely put down the power tool.
  • Use only undamaged saw blades in perfect condition. Bent or blunt blades can break, adversely affect the cut or cause kickback.
  • Do not brake the saw blade after switching the device off by applying side pressure. The saw blade may be damaged, break or cause a kickback.
  • Use suitable detectors in order to nd hidden supply lines or consult the local utility company. Contact with electric cables can lead to re and electric shock. Damage to a gas pipe can cause an explosion. Penetration into a water line causes prop- erty damage.
  • Secure the workpiece. A work- piece that is retained with clamping appliances or a vice is held more securely than with your hand.
  • Wait until the power tool has stopped before placing it down. The attachment tools can jam and lead to a loss of control over the power tool.30 GB IE Residual risks Even if properly operating and handling this electric tool, some residual risks will remain. Due to its construction and build, this electric tool may present the following haz- ards: a) Cuts b) Ear damage if working without ear protection. c) Damage to your health caused by swinging your hands and arms when operating the appli- ance for longer periods of time or if the unit is not held or main- tained properly.
