Congratulations! By purchasing the Lupilu LBP 864 A1 baby monitor, hereinafter referred to as the baby monitor, you have opted for a quality product. Before first using it, familiarise yourself with the way the baby monitor works and read these operating instructions through carefully. Be careful to follow the safety instructions and only use the baby monitor as described in the operating instructions and for the applications given. Keep these operating instructions in a safe place. If you pass the baby monitor on to someone else, make sure to give them all the relevant documents with it.

This baby monitor is a communications technology device. The baby monitor may only be used for private use, not industrial or commercial use. It may not be used in tropical climates. Only cables and external devices that comply with safety standards and the electromagnetic compatibility and shielding quality of this device may be used. This baby monitor fulfils all relevant norms and standards associated with CE Conformity. Any modifications to the baby monitor may result in these directives no longer being met. The manufacturer shall not be liable for any damage or malfunctions resulting from such modifications. Only use accessories recommended by the manufacturer. The baby monitor is used to monitor noise from a child’s room. When the baby wakes up and makes noise, this is transmitted to the parent receiver unit. Any use other than that mentioned above does not correspond to the intended use. This baby monitor is suitable exclusively for use indoors, in dry, enclosed spaces. Observe the regulations and laws in the country of use. Predictable misuse The baby monitor is only designed to monitor the sleep of small children. It is not for monitoring or listening in on other people. The baby monitor is not a medical device and may not be used for monitoring patients or other persons dependent on care. Remove the baby monitor and all accessories from the packaging. Remove the packaging material and check that all components are complete and undamaged. Keep the packaging material away from children and dispose of appropriately. If you find anything missing or damaged, please contact the manufacturer. 3. Controls and displays

These operating instructions have a fold-out cover. On the inside of the cover, the baby monitor is shown with figures indicated. The meanings of the numbers are as follows: A: Parent receiver unit 1 Speaker 2 Indicator light See also the table for a description of the indicator light in the “Switching on the baby monitor / Selecting the channel” section on page 30. 3 Volume control Rotate the volume adjustment knob anticlockwise to increase the sound volume. Rotate the volume adjustment knob clockwise to decrease the sound volume. 4 Channel selector switch/Off Slide the channel selector switch to the middle position to switch the parent receiver unit off. Push the channel selector switch left to switch the device on and receive on Channel A. The baby transmitter unit should also be set to Channel A. Push the channel selector switch right to switch the device on and receive on Channel B. The baby transmitter unit should also be set to Channel B. 5 Twisting handle Twist the handle up to hang the parent receiver unit, on the wall, for example. Before you use this baby monitor for the first time, please read the following notes and heed all warnings, even if you are familiar with handling electronic devices. Keep this manual safe for future reference. If you sell the device or pass it on, it is essential that you also hand over this manual, as it is part of the product. DANGER! This symbol and the word “Danger” alert you to a potentially dangerous situation. Ignoring it can lead to severe injury or even death. DANGER! This symbol warns of risks which could, if left unheeded, cause damage to life and limb through electric shock. WARNING! This symbol and the word “Warning” denote important information required for the safe operation of the product and for the safety of its users. This symbol denotes further information on the topic.

DANGER! Children and persons with disabilities Electrical devices are not suitable for children. Also persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities should only use electrical devices in appropriate circumstances. Never allow children or persons with disabilities to use electrical devices unsupervised, unless they are instructed accordingly and supervised by a competent person responsible for their safety. Children should always be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the product. DANGER! There is a risk of suffocation. Small parts can be fatal if swallowed. Keep the baby transmitter unit (B) and its power adapter at least 1 m away from your baby or toddler. Keep the packaging away from children and persons with disabilities. Do not use any extension cords. DANGER! Batteries and rechargeable batteries Insert the battery with the correct polarity. Never try to recharge normal batteries and under no circumstances throw them into fire. Do not mix batteries (old and new or carbon and alkaline, etc.). Batteries are not a toy. If a battery is swallowed, seek medical help immediately. The cover of the battery compartment (6, 14) must be secured using the screw provided to ensure that small children cannot remove the batteries. Batteries must never be opened or modified. Otherwise there is a risk of leaking chemicals. If the chemicals come into contact with your skin or eyes, rinse with plenty of fresh water immediately and seek medical aid. DANGER! Power adapter Please only use the power adapter provided (manufacturer: Shenzhen Nalin Elec Tech Company, Ltd. / Type designation: NLA030060W1E6) to power the baby monitor. Only plug the power adapter into a suitable and easily accessible power socket. Do not touch the power adapter with wet hands, as this could cause an electric shock. To unplug the power adapter from the power socket, always hold its casing and never pull from the cable. Unplug the power adapter from the mains in the following circumstances: in any dangerous situation. if the power adapter makes an unusual noise or gives off smoke. before a storm and/or thunderstorm. if the power adapter is damaged. if the power adapter has been exposed to rain, liquids or high levels of humidity. before a prolonged absence, e.g. holiday. when you wish to clean it. The power adapter consumes electricity even in standby mode. In order to completely disconnect the device from the mains, the power adapter must be pulled out from the mains socket. Please follow these instructions to avoid risk of potential fatal injury or fire! Never cover the power adapter, otherwise there is a risk of fire. Do not attempt to open the housing of the power adapter. This could result in potentially fatal electrocution. WARNING! Cables Unplug all cables by holding the plugs and never pull on the cables themselves. Never place pieces of furniture or other heavy objects on the cables and take care that they do not become damaged, especially at the plugs and sockets. Never install the cables around hot or sharp objects to avoid damaging them. Never tie knots in cables and do not tie them to other cables. All cables should be positioned so that nobody can trip over them or be obstructed by them. DANGER! Cables Keep all cables at least 1 m away from the baby. There is a risk of suffocation. DANGER! Radio interface Turn the device off when on board an aircraft, in a hospital, in an operating theatre or in the vicinity of electronic medical equipment. The RF signals may interfere with the functionality of sensitive devices. Keep the device at least 20 cm (8 inches) away from pacemakers, as the RF signals could interfere with the functionality of the pacemaker. The RF signals transmitted can interfere with hearing aids. If the wireless mode is switched on, do not place the device near flammable gases or in a potentially explosive area (e.g. a paint shop), as the RF signals transmitted could cause explosions or fire. range of the radio frequency signals depends on environmental conditions. If data is transmitted via a wireless connection, it can also be received by unauthorised parties. Targa GmbH is not liable for any interference caused to RF or TV signals through unauthorised modification to this device. Furthermore, Targa accepts no liability for replacing any devices that have not been specifically approved by Targa GmbH. The user is solely responsible and liable for remedying any interference caused by such unauthorised modification of this device and for replacing appliances.

WARNING! Repairs Repairs are required when this device has been damaged in any way, for example when liquid has entered the product, when the product has been exposed to rain or moisture, when the product does not work normally or if the product has been dropped. If smoke, unusual noises or smells are noticed, power off the device immediately, disconnect the power adapter from the mains and remove the rechargeable or conventional batteries. If this occurs, do not continue to use the device and have it checked out by an expert. All repair work must be carried out by qualified personnel. Never open the housing of the device, or the accessories. You can only open the cover of the battery compartment (6, 14) in order to insert or remove batteries. WARNING! Make sure that: - no direct heat sources (e.g. radiators) affect the device - no direct sunlight or bright artificial light reaches the device - contact with spray and dripping water and abrasive liquids is avoided and the device is never operated near water, and, most importantly, is never immersed (do not place any objects filled with liquids such as vases or drinks on or near the device) - there is clearance of at least one metre from radio frequency and magnetic sources (e.g. TV, speakers, mobile phones, etc.) to avoid any malfunction. In case of malfunction, install the device at a different place. - never place the device in the immediate vicinity of magnetic fields (e.g. loudspeakers) - do not place any fire sources (e.g. burning candles) on or near the device - no foreign bodies can penetrate into the device - the device is not exposed to any extreme temperature fluctuations as this can cause moisture through condensation and cause short-circuits. If the device has been exposed to strong temperature variations, wait for it to reach the ambient temperature before switching it on (about 2 hours) - the device should not be subjected to excessive shocks and vibrations

5.1 Operating environment

Position the device on a stable, flat surface and do not place any objects on the device. The device is not for use in rooms with a high temperature or humidity (e.g. bathrooms), and must be kept free of dust. Unpack all the devices and use the package contents checklist on page 21 to verify that you have received all items listed. Next remove all package material. If you find anything missing or damaged, please contact Customer Service (see “Warranty information” on page 33). DANGER! There is a risk of suffocation. Keep the packaging material away from children and dispose of appropriately. You can power your baby monitor using conventional batteries, rechargeable batteries or using the power adapters provided. If you use rechargeable batteries, you can charge them directly in the baby monitor by connecting it to the mains power via the power adapters.

6.1 Inserting the batteries

No rechargeable or conventional batteries are provided with the baby monitor. If you do not wish to power the baby monitor, i.e. the parent receiver unit (A) or the baby transmitter unit (B) from the mains, you need to buy batteries.

WARNING! If you wish to use rechargeable or conventional batteries, make sure that you only use AAA NiMH batteries with 1.2 V and 600 mAh. (You can also use NiMH batteries with higher capacity, but this does extend the charging time.) If using rechargeable or conventional batteries with a different voltage or chemical composition (e.g. NiCd), there is a risk of overheating and explosion! DANGER! When powering the baby monitor with the power adapter, no conventional (non-rechargeable) batteries must be inserted. Otherwise there is a risk of explosion as well as a risk of injury and damage to property. First, insert the batteries into the parent receiver unit (A) and the baby transmitter unit (B) (see diagram below).Lupilu LBP 864 A1

1. To do this, twist the handle (5, 13) upwards.

2. Undo the screw on the cover of the battery compartment (6, 14) (see arrow). Use a Phillips

3. Open the cover of the battery compartment (6, 14) and place three rechargeable AAA batteries

(NiMH) or three conventional AAA batteries in the battery compartment. Take care to observe the correct polarity (note + and -).

4. Then close the cover of the battery compartment (6, 14) and tighten the screw again.

5. Switch the parent receiver unit (A) and the baby transmitter unit (B) on using the channel selector

switch (4, 11). The parent receiver unit (A) and the baby transmitter unit (B) have an indicator light (2, 10) on the front. If these are lit, the batteries are inserted correctly. Otherwise, repeat the steps above and check the polarity. See also the table for a description of the indicator light in the “Switching on the baby monitor / Selecting the channel” section on page 30.

6.2 Connecting the power adapter

On the back of the parent receiver unit (A) and the baby transmitter unit (B), there is a power adapter input (7, 15). Two power adapters are provided so you can operate both the parent receiver unit (A) and the baby transmitter unit (B) from the mains power at the same time, if needed.Lupilu LBP 864 A1 English - 29

DANGER! When powering the baby monitor with the power adapter, no conventional (non-rechargeable) batteries must be inserted. Otherwise there is a risk of explosion as well as a risk of injury and damage to property.

1. Connect the little round plug of the power adapter to the power adapter input (7, 15).

2. Then plug the power adapter into a live mains socket.

WARNING! Make sure that the mains socket is nearby and easily accessible so that you can unplug the power adapter quickly in case of an emergency. DANGER! Cables Keep all cables at least 1 m away from the baby. There is a risk of suffocation.

6.3 Battery charging function / mains power

If the power adapter is connected, the power supply behaves as follows: If you have inserted rechargeable batteries, they are charged. If you have inserted conventional batteries, they are saved, i.e. the power is supplied via the mains. If you have not inserted any rechargeable or conventional batteries, you can still use your baby monitor on mains power. DANGER! When powering the baby monitor with the power adapter, no conventional (non-rechargeable) batteries must be inserted. 7.1 Switching on the baby monitor / Selecting the channel

You can select from 2 RF channels (A and B) for transmission. If you get interference on one channel, use the other one. Proceed as follows to switch on the baby monitor and select a channel: Push the channel selector switch (11) on the baby transmitter unit (B) to the left to switch the device on and transmit on Channel A. Or push it to the right if you wish to use Channel B. Push the channel selector switch (4) on the parent receiver unit (A) to the left to switch the device on and receive on Channel A. Or push it to the right if you wish to use Channel B. Both devices (the parent receiver unit (A) and the baby transmitter unit (B)) must be set to the same channel. The indicator lights (2, 10) on both devices then light up. The indicator light signals have the following meanings: Indicator light Baby transmitter unit (B) Parent receiver unit (A) On, green. Device switched on. Device switched on (receiving carrier signal from channel A or B). Flashing, green. – Sound signals are being received from the baby transmitter unit (B). On, red. Rechargeable or conventional batteries empty Rechargeable or conventional batteries empty Flashing, red (4x per second). – Weak signal (out of range).

7.2 Switching the baby monitor off

Push the channel selector switch (4, 11) on the parent receiver unit (A) and the baby transmitter unit (B) into the middle position to switch the devices off. The indicator lights (2, 10) go out.

1. Place or hang the baby transmitter unit (B) in the child’s room.

2. Switch both devices on by selecting a channel using the channel selector switch (4, 11).

3. Set the receiver volume you want using the volume controller (3). Do not get too close to the baby

transmitter unit (B) or you will hear a loud feedback noise.Lupilu LBP 864 A1 English - 31

4. Switch the night light (8) on or off as required. To do this, hold the night light button (12) down for

about 3 seconds. The status of the night light is saved after the unit is switched off. So when it is switched on, it stays on or off depending on whether it was switched on before.

5. Place or hang the parent receiver unit (A) somewhere near you. If you are moving around the

house, twist the handle (5) to the bottom and use it as a belt clip. This way you can always carry the parent receiver unit (A) with you.

After use, clean the baby monitor as described in the "Maintenance/cleaning" section below. If you do not wish to use the baby monitor for an extended period, remove the rechargeable or conventional batteries from the parent receiver unit (A) and the baby transmitter unit (B). Keep the batteries away from children. Store the baby monitor in a dry and dust-free place. Also make sure that the storage temperature is maintained between 5 °C and 40 °C. Humidity must not exceed 90% rel. humidity.

9.1 Maintenance/cleaning

DANGER! Befor e cleaning the power adapters, disconnect them from the mains power. Otherwise, there is a risk of electric shock! WARNING about property damage! Do not use solvents or aggressive liquids. This could damage the device housing. Only use a clean, dry cloth for cleaning the devices. Never use any corrosive liquids. If very dirty, wipe the device with a damp cloth and let it dry. Only use the baby monitor again when all components are completely dry.

If your baby monitor does not work as normal, follow the instructions below to try to solve the problem. If working through the tips below does not fix the fault, please contact our hotline (see "Warranty information" on page 33). Risk of electric shock! The baby monitor will not switch on. The rechargeable batteries are empty. Recharge the batteries. Connect the device in question to a mains socket using the power adapter. The conventional batteries are empty. Replace the batteries or connect the device in question to a mains socket using the power adapter. No rechargeable or conventional batteries inserted. Insert rechargeable or conventional batteries or connect the device in question to a mains socket using the power adapter. The LED lights are on, the parent receiver unit is making a noise but the red LED (2) is flashing. Incorrect channel selected. The same channel must be selected on both the baby transmitter unit (B) and the parent receiver unit (A). Push both channel selector switches (4, 11) either to the right or the left. The rechargeable or conventional batteries in the baby transmitter unit are empty. Insert new rechargeable or conventional batteries or connect the baby transmitter unit (B) to a mains socket using the power adapter. You have moved too far away from the baby transmitter unit (B). Move the parent receiver unit (A) closer to the baby transmitter unit (B). The baby monitor is switched on and connected to the same channel, but there is no sound. The volume is set too low. Rotate the volume adjustment knob (3) anticlockwise to increase the sound volume.

11. Environmental regulations and disposal information

Devices marked with this symbol are subject to the European Directive 2012/19/EU. All electrical and electronic devices must be disposed of separately from household waste at official disposal centres. Avoid damage to the environment and risks to your personal health by disposing of the device properly. For further information about proper disposal, contact your local council, disposal bodies or the shop where you bought the device. Respect the environment. Old batteries and rechargeable batteries do not belong in with domestic waste. They must be handed in at a collection point for waste batteries. Please note that allLupilu LBP 864 A1 English - 33 rechargeable or conventional batteries must be disposed of fully discharged at appropriate collection points for old batteries. If disposing of batteries which are not fully discharged, take precautions to prevent short circuits. To prevent any short circuits, cover the battery contacts with insulating tape. Dispose of all packaging in an environmentally friendly manner. Cardboard packaging can be taken to paper recycling centres or public collection points for recycling. Any film or plastic contained in the packaging should be taken to your public collection points for disposal.

13. Warranty information

Dear Customer, This device is sold with three years warranty from the date of purchase. In the event of product defects, you have legal rights towards the seller. These statutory rights are not restricted by our warranty as described below. Warranty conditions The warranty period commences upon the date of purchase. Please keep the original receipt in a safe place as it is required as proof of purchase. If any material or manufacturing faults occur within three years of purchase of this product, we will repair or replace the product free of charge as we deem appropriate. Warranty period and legal warranty rights The warranty period is not extended in the event of a warranty claim. This also applies to replaced and repaired parts. Any damage or defects discovered upon purchase must be reported immediately when the product has been unpacked. Any repairs required after the warranty period will be subject to charge. Scope of warranty The device was carefully manufactured in compliance with stringent quality guidelines and subjected to thorough testing before it left the works. The warranty applies to material and manufacturing faults. This warranty does not cover product components which are subject to normal wear and which can therefore be regarded as wearing parts, or damage to fragile components such as switches, rechargeable batteries or components made of glass.
