Before using for the first time Baby unit The baby unit may be used when plugged into the mains using the adaptor provided(main use), or unplugged (with batteries) if there is not an electrical socket nearby orif there is a power cut. Mains power supply: plug in the jack plug on the side of the baby unit 10A and plugthe adaptor into the mains socket – fig. A – Battery power supply: open the compartment on the back of the appliance 9A and insert the 4 batteries 1.5V AA (not supplied) then close the compartment – fig. B. Ensure that the jack plug is removed so that the batteries may operate. Parents' unit This operates with 2 rechargeable AAA batteries supplied with the appliance and hasa charger base. – Turn the belt clip on the back of the appliance 11B, then open the cover 12B and insert the 2 batteries, then close the cover – fig. C – Plug in the jack plug on the rear of the charger 13B and plug the adaptor into the mains socket – fig. D– Place the parents' unit on the charger base and charge the batteries for a minimumof 8 hours. The indicator on the charger base 10B will be red when the batteries arecharging.During use, place the receiver back on its charging stand as soon as possible.Always ensure that you have inserted the rechargeable batteries into the parents' unit.Important, before touching the batteries in the parents' unit or the batteries in thebaby unit, ensure that the appliance is unplugged.If the unit will not be used for a long period of time, unplug the appliances and theiradapters and remove the batteries. Protect the environment: this appliance uses normal and rechargeable batteries. Tohelp protect the environment, do not throw these batteries away but take them to acollection point for used batteries. Do not throw them out with your household waste.TefDis-VB Numer 03-11 28/03/11 15:30 Page 38Operation Switching on the appliance To switch on the appliance, press the button 4A and 4B ON/OFF on the baby unit and the parents' unit for 2 to 3 seconds – fig. E The ON indicators 5A and 5B will light up green on the baby unit and the parents' unit – fig. F The connection indicators 6A and 6B will light up green on the baby unit and the parents' unit: the connection is working – fig. FIf the connection between the baby unit and the parents' unit is broken (out of range,or if the baby unit or the parents' unit is switched off), the connection indicator turnsred. On the parents' unit, you will also hear a beep (every 30 seconds) to warn youthat the connection has been broken.It is important that you always position the parents' unit at least 1 metre from thebaby unit. When they are too close to one another, you will hear a high pitched noise. Baby unit Night light function To switch on the night light, press the button 1A. To deactivate it, press the button 1A once again. Parents' unit Setting the volume You can set the volume of the parents' unit using the + and – buttons 2B. There are 6 different settings, the lowest level switches off the sound and just uses the visualindication.Setting the sensitivity of the microphoneThe noises made by Baby may be of different levels, depending on whether crying ormurmuring in the cot. The sensitivity of the microphone allows the sound level to beadjusted as required: the slightest noise or only if Baby is fully awake.Press the button 7B (sensor) – fig. G – until the indicator number 4 lights up – fig. H – then adjust the sensitivity by pressing the + or – buttons 2B within 3 seconds – fig. I. Confirm by pressing the button 7B again (sensor). There are 5 sensitivity settings, from 1 for the lowest sensitivity to 5 for the highestsetting. T default setting is level 3.Walkie-talkie functionTo reassure Baby when he/she awakes, without having to go to the room, you can usethe walkie-talkie function. Press the button 1B when you speak – fig. J, then release it to listen to Baby again. Noise intensity indicators The noise intensity indicators 3B are green and red LEDs on the receiver which light up according to the level of noise emitted by the transmitter. There are 8 noise levels,from the lowest to the highest:– Level 0: 0 green light, no sound emitted– level 1: 1 green light lit

– level 2: 2 green lights lit – level 3: 3 green lights lit – level 4: 4 green lights lit – level 5: 5 green lights lit – level 6: 5 green lights and 1 red light lit – level 7: 5 green lights and 2 red lights lit Photo You can add a photo of Baby if you wish or another photo on the parents' unit. To add a photo, remove the plastic cover 8B – fig. K – and the photo fitted. Cut your photo to the same size as the photo you have removed and then place it in the compartment – fig. L – and fit the cover. Troubleshooting The indicator 5A of the baby unit flashes red. The indicator 5B de the parents' unit flashes red. The ON indicators 5A and 5B do not light up. The connection indicators 6A and 6B do not light up. The connection indicators 6A and 6B are red on the baby unit and the parents' unit. A beep sounds on the parents' unit. The batteries are flat. Change them with batteries of the same type or plug the appliance into the mains after removing the batteries. The batteries are discharged. Place the parents' unit on the charger base. If you are using mains power adaptors, ensure that they are plugged in. If you are using batteries, ensure that they are fitted correctly and that they are not discharged. Ensure that the baby unit and the parents' unit are switched on. If you are using batteries, ensure that they are fitted correctly and that they are not discharged. The connection between the baby unit and the parents' unit is broken. Ensure that the baby unit and the parents' unit are switched on. If they are switched on, the baby unit and the parents' unit may be too far from one another (maximum distance in open space of 300 metres and 50 metres indoors). The appliance beeps every 10 seconds and the “Link” 6B and “Power” 5B LEDs flash. Important, if there is an electrical power cut, to operate the baby unit with batteries the jack plug 10A must be removed. Care Clean the appliance with a damp cloth and do not use detergent. Do not allow water to enter the appliances.

The baby unit and the parents' unit are too close to one another or the volume of the parents' unit is set too high. Move the parents' unit so that there is at least a distance of 1 metre, or lower the volume by pressing the – button 2B on the parents' unit. Increase the volume by pressing the + button 2B on the parents' unit. The batteries are completely dead. Lift the parents’ unit from its base after a few minutes of charging, and place it back. If the beep sound continues, wait for a few minutes and repeat. If the problem persists, replace all the batteries. They are of standard type and are available at stores or at approved service centres. Environment protection first! Your appliance contains valuable materials which can be recovered or recycled.
