- Warranty Meaning of the symbols Please read the instructions carefully and familiarize yourself with the different control elements and how to operate the device properly. Attention! When using power tools it is important to observe the following safety advice in order to protect yourself against electrical shock. The op- erator is responsible for accidents involv- ing other persons and/or their property. Never let children or other persons who have not read these instructions use the device. Persons younger than 16 must not use the device. Local regulations may determine the minimum age for users. Warning! Read the operating instruc- tions before placing in service! Keep bystanders away! Tool is coasting! Wear protective goggles! Do not expose to moisture! For vertical cutting: Hold the protective cover with the cord input side (cord cutter side) downward. Safety instructions General
This trimmer is ideal for trimming lawn edges and small lawn areas in private gardens. The trimmer should not be used in public gardens, parks, sports grounds, streets etc. and in farming and forestry. z Because of possible accidents the trimmer must not be used for: – trimming of bushes and hedges – cutting of flowers – cutting garden by-products for composting z For safety reasons, the trimmer is not for use by persons below 16 years of age and persons who are not familiar with its handling.
Make sure that no persons (in particular children) or pets are in the vicinity of the working area. You are responsible for damages. z Never operate the unit in the presence of indi- viduals (particularly children) or animals. z Only operate the unit in daylight hours or if adequate artificial lightning is available. z Use trimmer when the weather is dry and do not leave it outside when it rains. z Use a residual current device (RCD) rated for a residual current not greater than 30 mA. z Never install metal cutting elements. Before operating z Before starting the trimmer, clear all string, wire etc. away from the area to be cut. Whilst cutting look out for foreign objects. z Tool must not be used when the safety device or the covering is damaged.
For safety reasons only original WOLF spare- parts or parts appointed by the manufacturer shall be used. Please note the installation ins- tructions!
Before cleaning or adjusting the device, switch it off and remove the battery. Working
Always keep hands and feet well clear of the cut- ting mechanism, particularly when starting the unit.
Avoid injury from each of the components which serve to cut the line length. After pulling out a new length of line, always hold the unit in its normal operating position before starting it.
When starting the trimmer hold its base parallel to the lawn area in order to avoid accidents. z Keep your hands away from the moving cord. z Wear eye protection! z Always wear appropriate working clothes and sound footwear when using the trimmer. z Before carrying the trimmer to the next lawn area to be cut, switch it off.
Be careful when you go backwards. You may stum- ble! z Never leave the trimmer without supervision. Store it in a safe place.
The switches installed shall not be removed or brid- ged over, e. g. by binding the switch to the handle.
Do not allow the cord spool to strike the ground or edges of working area. If the cord spool re- ceives a hard knock, this will cause a strong vi- bration on the handle. If this occurs, the trimmer should be checked by a qualified ser- vice centre. After operating z When switching off the trimmer: Attention: the cutting tool does not stop immediately! z Always wait for the cutting tool is stop. z Before examining or cleaning the tool or be- fore removing the safety device or the cord spool, switch off and disconnect the trimmer from the battery. Only use original WOLF cord spools and note the installation instructions! z The cutting knife should not be cleaned under running water or under high-pressure. z Faults shall only be repaired by appointed ser- vice centres or by the manufacturer. z Make sure all air holes are free of dirt. z Do not store the unit within reach of children. Charger z The charger may only be used in dry rooms.14
z Unplug cable connections only by pulling on the plug. Pulling on the cable could damage cable as well as plug and electrical safety could not be guaranteed. z Never use the charger if cable, plug, or the de- vice itself have been damaged through exter- nal influence. Bring the charger to the nearest repair shop. z Under no circumstances should you open the charger. In case of a malfunction take the de- vice to a repair shop. z Charge the battery only with a suitable WOLF Garten charger. The use of other chargers might cause a fire or damage to the battery. Battery z As a result of incorrect use, fluid can leak from the rechargeable battery. Avoid contact with the fluid. In case of accidental contact, rinse with water. In case of fluid contact with the eyes, seek medical aid. Leaking battery fluid can cause irritation of the skin or burns. z In the event of improper use of the battery pack, there is a risk of escaping hazardous va- pours. Always ensure proper ventilation and immediately consult a doctor, if you feel un- well. The vapours might irritate the respiratory track. 1 Danger of fire! z Never charge batteries in the vicinity of acids or easily flammable materials. z Charge battery only at a temperature between 10 - 45 °C. After a heavy load, first allow the battery to cool. 1 Danger of explosion! z Protect the device from direct exposure to heat and fire. z Do not place on heating units or expose to strong sunlight for an extended period. z Operate the device only at temperatures between -10 °C to + 45 °C.. 1 Risk of short circuit! z For disposal, transport or storage, pack the battery in a plastic bag or a card- board box, or isolate the contacts with adhesive tape. z Do not open the battery pack. Safe disposal of batteries Disposal Operation Operating times z Please check noise abatement regulations prevailing in your country. z WOLF-Garten batteries are de- signed according to the latest state of technology and opti- mized for the use in electric tools. Lithium ion cells contain hazardous substances and may therefore not be disposed off with normal household was- te. z WOLF-Garten batteries are li- thium ion cells and are there- fore subject to special disposal regulations. Bring defective batteries to your specialist dea- ler. Before disposing of the tool, remove the battery. z WOLF-Garten wishes to en- courage users to act in an envi- ronmentally friendly manner. It therefore guarantees to take back and recycle old batteries that are returned to WOLF- Garten dealers. Do not dispose of electrical equip- ment in domestic waste. Recycle equip-ment, accessories and packa- ging in an environment-friendly man- ner.15
Charging 1 The battery must be charged for approxi- mately 2 hours before using it for the first time.z Use only the original WOLF charger (part number 7420 069) z Use charging unit only in dry rooms!1. Remove the battery from the grass trimmer

Instructions for the handling of the chargerz Red LED (5) is on: Battery is being char- ged. z Green LED (5) is on: Charge process completed.z Red LED flashing (5): Error 1 Self-discharge of batteries! Remove the battery from the charger once it is fully charged. 3 General instructions: regarding the battery In order to maintain the long service life of the battery, always follow the instructions below:z The lawn trimmer are automatically swit-ched off when the battery voltage is low. The battery must then be recharged be-fore the shears can be used again. Always recharge the lithium-ion battery prior to any prolonged period of non-use, i.e. before storing the shears away in au-tumn. The charging time is 2 hours for a battery that is completely empty
The lithium-ion rechargeable battery can be charged at any charge level and charging can be interrupted at any time without damaging the battery (no memory effect) Settings The lawn trimmer is equipped with a four-position adjustable working angle. This enables you to easily trim hard-to-reach areas in your garden.To set the ideal working position, please follow the in-structions below. 3 The cutting head should be inclined slightly forward while trimming. Working angle Free trimming - Working angle 1 and 2 During free trimming, you should swing the trim-mer in a semi-circular motion in front of your body.z Set working angle . Trimming under bushes / on slopes - Working angle 3 z Set working angle . Edge function (horizontal cut) - Working angle 4 The edge function enables precise and convenient trimming along the edge of the lawn.1. Turn cutting head 90° .2. Set working angle . Plant hoop guard The plant hoop guard protects bushes, trees and plants (1). When edging, the plant hoop guard must remain in the position illustrated in (2). Telescoping handle and grip The trimmer is adjusted to your body height by means of the telescoping handle and the middle grip . On / off switch (2) Thread adjustment (3) The thread is adjusted with the tilt switch. Briefly tilt the running machine on a firm base, e. g. paving slab (approx. 3 kg pressure). Approx. 2,5 cm cut-ting thread are the automatically paid out. 3 Tips on trimming z Cut high grass slowly, step by step.z You can prolong the life of your trimmer by removing grass from the ventilation slots and the bottom of the trimmer be-fore or after each use.z In order to take full advantage of the bat-tery capacity, you should not switch the trimmer on and off unnecessarily.
Maintenance Replacing the cord spool 1 The trimmer continues to spin after being switched off! Always remove bat-tery before performing any work on the trimmer!1. Hold spool case, turn cover in „AUF“ (open) di-rection of the arrow and remove it, remove empty thread cartridge .2. Insert the thread end of the new thread cart-ridge through the thread lug (1). Do not loosen the thread from the retainingslot of the thread cartridge (2).3. Slide thread cartridge over the metal knob. Pull end of thread until the thread is loosened from the retaining slot of the thread cartridge . Ensure correct position of the thread from the thread cartridge to the thread lug.4. Attach cover. One of the two arrow markings should point towards the thread lug. Press down on cover and turn to the right until it cat-ches audibly (1) +(2). 1 When switched on, thread is cut off to operational length. Only switch machine on when in operational position. Faults and how to remedy
Problem Cause RemedyTilt switch is not wor-king.• Spool is empty. • Fit new spool. RQ-FA (7117 081)• Dirt and debris in spool drive mechanism. • Clean parts with a brush.• Line is torn and stuck inside spool.• Remove spool, check tightness of winding and replace spool in the usual way.• Line is „welded“ to itself or to spool through heat build-up.• Remove welded line section, check tight-ness of winding and replace spool in the usual way.String breaks too frequently• Coil too dry or brittle.• Place the coil in a container with water for approx. 24 hours. Dry and reinstall it.• String in contact with fence posts, trees, etc.
- Use plant guard.When in doubt, always consult a WOLF service workshop. 1 Switch off the trimmer and disconnect the battery before inspecting, cleaning or working on the thread.17
