  • Read the operating instructions carefully before putting the appliance into operation and keep the instructions including the warranty, the receipt and, if possible, the box with the internal packing.
  • The appliance is designed exclusively for private use and for the envisaged purpose. This appliance is not fit for commercial use. Do not use the appliance with wet hands. If the appliance is humid or wet, unplug it immediately. Do not put it in water.
  • When cleaning or putting it away, switch off the appliance and always pull out the plug from the socket (pull on the plug, not the cable) if the appliance is not being used and remove the attached accessories.
  • Do not operate the machine without supervision. If you should leave the workplace, always switch the machine off or remove the plug from the socket (pull the plug itself, not the lead).
  • To protect children from the dangers posed by electrical appliances, make sure that the cable is hanging low and that children do not have access to the appliance.
  • Check the appliance and the cable for damage on a regular basis. Do not use the appliance if it is damaged.
  • Do not try to repair the appliance on your own. Always contact an authorized technician. To avoid the exposure to danger, always have a faulty cable be replaced only by the manufacturer, by our customer service or by a qualified person and with a cable of the same type.
  • Use only original spare parts.
  • Pay careful attention to the following "Special Safety Instructions".

WARNING!

Always use fresh water.
- Do not consume any water that has already been in the water container for more than one hour.
- Do not re-boil water that has been allowed to cool down.
Always pour old water away.

Filter Cartridge

General

  • The fi liter cartridge reduces lime and other undesirable substances such as chlorine, lead or copper in the tap water. This improves the odour and taste of drinks and food as their aromas can unfold better.

I important note:

  • The fi liter kettle should only be used with cold tap water.
  • Do not expose the fi lter kettle to direct sunlight.
  • If you intend not to use the fi liter kettle for a prolonged period it is best to store the fi liter cartridge in a foil bag in the refrigerator. When the water fi liter is used again you should pour away the fi rst fi itered water.
  • Always store spare filter cartridges in their original packaging in a cool and dry place.
  • The fi ltering of drinking water may slightly increase its potassium content. It is therefore important for kidney and dialysis patients or individuals who have to keep to a potassium diet to consult their doctor before drinking the fi ltered water.
  • In order to ensure long-term hygiene the fiiter material in the cartridge has been treated with silver. During the fiitering process a small quantity of silver may be given off. This quantity is far below the limiting value stated in the guidelines of the World Health Organisation (WHO).

Preparing the Filter Cartridge

  • We recommend that the machine be cleaned as described under "Cleaning".
  • Open the kettle by means of the button in the lid.
  • Remove the fi iter holder by lifting it up by its handle and the pouring side.

Activating the Filter Cartridge

  • Take a fi liter cartridge out of its packaging and slew it around in cold water until there are no more air bubbles.

CAUTION:

Please ensure that the sealing ring on the fi lter holder is inserted. If it has come loose place it with the fl at side facing downwards on the fi xing ribs of the fi lter holder.

  • Place the filter cartridge in the retainer of the filter holder and turn it in a clockwise direction until it is tight.
  • Insert the entire fi liter holder into the kettle and press it downwards until it locks in place.

I NOTE: A new fi lter cartridge must fi rst be rinsed twice.

  • To do so, fill the fi lter holder with tap water up to the MAX mark. Pour the fi ltered water away.
  • Then rinse the kettle out.

Service Life Disposal Replacement

  • The effciency of the fi liter cartridge diminishes with increasing use. We therefore recommend changing the fi liter cartridge once a month. When you have inserted a new fi liter cartridge please note down the date.
Used fi Iter cartridges should be disposed of in the domestic waste.

Operation

Electrical connection

  • Check whether the electrical voltage that you intend to use is the same as that of the machine. Details are to be found on the label on the base.
  • Only connect the machine to a properly installed 230V , 50Hz safety socket.
  • The part of the mains cable that is not required can be wound up on the floor of the base.

Boiling Water and Automatic Switch-Off

  1. Place the machine on a fl at surface.
  2. Open the water boiler with the button on the lid. Fill it with water. Fill only up to the maximum mark (MAX). You can read off the water level in the water level display.

CLATRONIC WKF 3013 - Boiling Water and Automatic Switch-Off - 1

NOTE:

The window in the lid can be opened. Water can also be filled in through this aperture. Then close the window.

  1. Close the lid.
  2. Place the kettle fl ush on the base.
  3. Turn the machine on by the switch. To control lamp lights up.
  4. When the water is boiling the kettle switches itself off automatically unless you press the switch to interrupt or stop the water from boiling.

CLATRONIC WKF 3013 - NOTE: - 1

WARNING!

Careful when pouring! The water container also becomes hot. Always pour water that is no longer required away immediately.

Switching off

  • To stop using the machine, turn the switch to 0 (off) and then remove the plug from the socket.
  • Emptying the water container.

Cleaning

  • Always pull out the plug from the mains socket before cleaning and wait until the unit has cooled down.
  • Do not use any acidic or abrasive detergents.
  • Never immerse the device or the base in water or other liquids.

Water Container

  • Rinse the water container out with clean water. Then dry it off with a cloth.

Exterior of the Housing

Clean the housing after use with a slightly damp cloth.

Decalcification

  • The ion exchanger in the filter cartridge is not able to remove the lime completely from the tap water. After a certain time deposits therefore form on the heated base which may result in the loss of energy and possibly reduce the service life of the machine.
  • The frequency of the decalcifying operation depends on the hardness of the water and on how often the appliance is used.
  • If the machine switches off before the water boils, it probably needs to be decalcified.

CLATRONIC WKF 3013 - Decalcification - 1

CAUTION: The fi I ter cartridge must be removed for descaling.

  • Please do not use vinegar but a commercially available decalcifi cation agent on the basis of citric acid. Only use the quantities stated in the instructions.

CLATRONIC WKF 3013 - Decalcification - 2

WARNING:

After descending the device boil fresh water in it several times (approximately 3-4 times) in order to remove any residues. Do not consume this water.
