How to use the microwave to heat a dish?
Place the suitable dish in the oven, close the door. Turn the power selector to choose a level (e.g., 100% for reheating). Use the timer knob to set the cooking time (up to 35 minutes). The oven starts automatically. When finished, open the door or turn the timer to zero.
Can I use metal containers in the microwave?
No, never use metal dishes or those with metal trim in microwave mode. Microwaves do not penetrate metal and may cause sparks or damage the appliance. In grill or combined mode, the metal grill rack can be used.
How to clean the interior of the microwave?
Unplug the appliance before cleaning. Wipe the interior with a damp cloth and mild detergent. For odors, heat a cup of water with lemon for 5 minutes, then wipe. The glass turntable and roller ring can be washed with soapy water. Do not wet the control panel.
What to do if smoke is emitted during use?
Keep the door closed to smother the flames, press Stop/Cancel (or open the door) to turn off the appliance, then unplug. Do not open the door if flames are visible. Have the appliance repaired before reuse.
How to defrost food?
Select the 'defrost' power level (33%) on the selector. Set the defrost time according to weight (the outer scale indicates weight in kg). For even defrosting, turn the food halfway through.
Can I grill food in this oven?
Yes, turn the power selector beyond the maximum microwave level to switch to grill mode (100%). Place the grill rack on the glass turntable. Use for grilling thin slices, steaks, sausages, etc. Caution: the grill gets very hot, monitor cooking.
How to use the combined mode?
Turn the power selector to one of the three combined levels (1, 2, or 3). Each level combines microwave and grill at different percentages (see table in manual). Use for dishes like fish, potatoes, gratins (level 3), omelettes (level 2), or poultry (level 1).
What are the available power levels?
Five microwave levels: low (17% for keep warm), defrost (33%), medium (55%), medium-high (77%), high (100%). One grill level (100%). Three combined levels: 20% MW + 80% grill, 30% MW + 70% grill, 40% MW + 60% grill.
Is the appliance suitable for heating baby bottles?
Yes, but with precautions. Remove the cap or lid to avoid explosion. After heating, stir or shake the bottle and check the temperature before feeding to avoid burns.

Note:

When heating liquids in the microwave oven, so-called boiling delay may occur, i.e. the liquid is already at boiling temperature without the presence of the steam bubbles typical for boiling. Vibrations, such as occur for instance during removal, will result in the liquid suddenly boiling up.

Attention: There is a risk of scalding!

Therefore: When heating liquids it is imperative to place a glass or ceramic rod into the vessel. This will prevent subsequent boiling up of the liquid.

  • Never heat food in closed containers. It is also imperative to remove the lid of bottles, e.g. when heating up baby food, since otherwise the bottle may easily explode.
  • In the case of food with a firm skin, such as sausages or tomatoes, score the skin at various points prior to heating in order to avoid bursting of the food.
  • Boil eggs only in microwave crockery specially provided for this purpose. Do not heat hard-boiled eggs in the microwave.

Micromaxx MM 10048 - Note: - 1

Attention: Already boiled eggs can still burst even after removal from the oven.

  • After heating, mix the food if possible in order to achieve even temperature distribution or allow it to cook for a short time longer.
  • Prior to consumption, check the temperature of the foodstuff heated with the microwave oven. Be particularly careful as far as baby food is concerned and always stir or shake children's food before checking the temperature in order to avoid burns.

About microwaves

Microwaves are high-frequency electromagnetic waves causing your food in the cooking compartment to be heated. Microwaves heat up all non-metallic objects. For this reason, do not use any metallic objects inside the microwave oven. The more water the foodstuffs contain, the better the heating. In order to achieve optimum heat distribution, leave finish-heated meals in the microwave for one to two minutes for additional cooking.

Before first use

Remove all packing materials and accessories.

  • Place the microwave oven onto a plane, firm surface inured to heat.

Microwave Cooking Principles

  • To fill in and arrange the food properly for cooking, place the thickest parts at the outer edge.
  • Watch cooking time.
  • Look for the shortest amount of time indicated and add more as needed. Food severely overcooked can smoke or ignite.
  • Cover foods while cooking. Covers prevent spattering and help foods to cook evenly.
  • Turn foods over once during microwaving to speed cooking of such foods as chicken and hamburgers. Large items such as roasts or broiled chicken must be turned over at least once.
  • Rearranging, e.g. of meatballs, is also important: Rearrange foods halfway through cooking both from top to bottom and from the centre of the dish to the outside.

Utensils Guide

  • The ideal material for a microwave utensil is transparent to microwave, it allows energy to pass through the container and heat the food.
  • Microwaves can not penetrate metal, so metal utensils or dishes with metallic trim should not be used.
  • Do not use recycled paper products when microwave cooking, as they may contain small metal fragments which may cause sparks and/or fires.
  • Round/oval dishes rather than square/oblong ones are recommend, as food in corners tends to overcook.
  • Narrow strips of aluminium foil may be used to prevent overcooking of exposed areas. But be careful not to use too much and keep a distance of 1 inch (2.5 cm) between foil and cavity.

  • The outside surfaces should be cleaned with a damp cloth. To prevent damage to the operating parts inside the oven, water should not be allowed to seep into the ventilation openings.
  • Wipe door and inspection window on both sides. Wipe the door seals and adjacent parts frequently with a damp cloth to remove any spills or spatters. Never use abrasive powder.
  • Do not allow the control panel to become wet. Clean with a soft, damp cloth. When cleaning the control panel, leave oven door open to prevent oven from accidentally turning on.
  • If steam accumulates inside or around the outside of the oven door, wipe with a soft cloth.
  • This may occur when the microwave oven is operated under high humidity conditions; this is normal.
  • It is occasionally necessary to remove the glass tray for cleaning.
  • Wash the tray in warm sudsy water or in a dishwasher.
  • The roller ring and oven floor should be cleaned regularly to avoid excessive noise.
  • Simply wipe the bottom surface of the oven with mild detergent. The roller ring may be washed in mild sudsy water or dishwasher. When removing the roller ring from cavity floor for cleaning, be sure to replace in the proper position.
  • Remove odours from your oven by combining a cup of water with the juice and skin of one lemon in a deep microwaveable bowl, microwave for 5 minutes. Wipe thoroughly and dry with a soft cloth.
