Microwave Oven with Convection and Grill MM 42201 Safety instructions Application
- This device is exclusively intended for use in households. It must only be used for heating suitable foodstuff in containers suitable for microwave use.
- When you heat foodstuff in plastic or paper containers, you must supervise the microwave oven since such materials could catch fire.
- The microwave oven is not suitable for preparing food by deep-frying. Neither is the oven suitable for the drying of objects. Caution: fire hazard!
- Please note that children must not use the appliance since children are not yet able to recognise dangers that may arise when handling electrical appliances. Installation and electrical connection
- Connect the microwave oven only to a regular 230V ~ 50Hz shockproof socket protected with at least 16 ampere. Do not use an extension cable.
- Place the appliance only on a stable and level surface in a protected and dry room.
- Adhere to the minimum distances and never cover up the air slots. Do not place any items on the microwave oven since the latter gets hot during operation.
- Protect the appliance from dripping water and splash water. Should the appliance happen to come in contact with water, immediately pull the mains plug from the socket. Note: During operation, the accessible surfaces may become very hot. Caution! Hot surface! Manual 42201.qxp 17.02.2005 11:45 Uhr Seite 24Safety instructions
- Use the microwave oven only with the enclosed roller ring and turntable.
- Never operate the appliance without food in the cooking compartment.
- Only use the accessories enclosed or approved by us.
- Only use crockery specially suitable for microwave ovens.
- Never use crockery with metal decoration, metallic crockery or the grill stand when operating the microwave oven in microwave mode, as this could damage the appliance.
- Do not remove any covers of the microwave oven or the inner foil of the inspection window as this could result in microwave radiation leaks.
- Never leave the appliance unattended during operation. Note: When heating liquids in the microwave oven, so-called boiling delay may occur, i.e. the liquid is already at boiling temperature without the presence of the steam bubbles typical for boiling. Vibrations, such as occur for instance during removal, will result in the liquid suddenly boiling up. Attention: There is a risk of scalding! Therefore: When heating liquids it is imperative to place a glass or ceramic rod into the vessel. This will prevent subsequent boiling up of the liquid.
- Never heat food in closed containers. It is also imperative to remove the lid of bottles, e.g. when heating up baby food, since otherwise the bottle may easily explode.
- In the case of food with a firm skin, such as sausages or tomatoes, score the skin at various points prior to heating in order to avoid bursting of the food.
- Boil eggs only in microwave crockery specially provided for this purpose. Do not heat hard-boiled eggs in the microwave. Attention: Already boiled eggs can still burst even after removal from the oven.
- After heating, mix the food if possible in order to achieve even temperature distribution or allow it to cook for a short time longer.
- Prior to consumption, check the temperature of the foodstuff heated with the microwave oven. Be particularly careful as far as baby food is concerned and always stir or shake children’s food before checking the temperature in order to avoid burns. Microwave Cooking Principles
- To fill in and arrange the food properly for cooking, place the thickest parts at the outer edge.
- Look for the shortest amount of time indicated and add more as needed. Food severely overcooked can smoke or ignite.
- Cover foods while cooking. Covers prevent spattering and help foods to cook evenly.
- Turn foods over once during microwaving to speed cooking of such foods as chicken and hamburgers. Large items such as roasts or broiled chicken must be turned over at least once.
- Rearranging, e.g. of meatballs, is also important: Rearrange foods halfway through cooking both from top to bottom and from the centre of the dish to the outside. Utensils Guide
- The ideal material for a microwave utensil is transparent to microwave, it allows energy to pass through the container and.heat the food.
- Microwaves can not penetrate metal, so metal utensils or dishes with metallic trim should not be used.
- Do not use recycled paper products when microwave cooking, as they may contain small metal fragments which may cause sparks and/or fires.
- Round/oval dishes rather than square/oblong ones are recommend, as food in corners tends to overcook.
- Narrow strips of aluminium foil may be used to prevent overcooking of exposed areas. But be careful not to use too much and keep a distance of 1 inch (2.5 cm) between foil and cavity.
