  • This appliance complies with the technology standards and safety legislation relating to electrical appliances.
  • To avoid harm or danger through inappropriate use, the safety instructions must be followed.
  • If you give the appliance to someone else, you must also give them the safety instructions.
  • If the power cable is damaged, it must only be changed by a repair technician recommended by the manufacturer or by its technical service.

3. SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR

PLUGGING IN THE APPLIANCE

For your safety The instructions for use contain important safety instructions and the necessary information for using the appliance properly! Please read the instructions thoroughly and keep them in a safe place. All the instructions for use are designed for your own safety!

2. PARTS OF THE APPLIANCE10

  • Do not cover the straightening plates with objects!
  • The appliance must never be switched on with the plates closed. Make sure that the appliance is open!
  • People with nervous problems must not use the appliance when they are alone in order to prevent possible danger.
  • Children are not aware of the dangers of electrical appliances. It is therefore necessary to supervise them when they are using the appliance!
  • Keep the packaging materials, e.g. plastic bags, well away from children! Warning! There is a risk of burning yourself with the straightening plates and the hot parts of the appliance! Do not hold the appliance by or near to the straightening plates when it is switched on. The straightening plates and the hot steam can cause burns. Avoid contact with your skin and eyes. Never carry the appliance when it is hot! Warning! Risk of electrocution Do not use the appliance with wet hands, in the bath or shower or over a full sink. If the appliance falls into the water, unplug it immediately. Under no circumstances touch the water when the appliance is still plugged in! Warning! Risk of electrocution When the appliance is being used in the bathroom, unplug it after use as the proximity of water can be dangerous even when the appliance is switched off!
  • Never place the appliance on cushions or carpets while in use!
  • After use, or if there is a pause for some considerable time, unplug the appliance and leave it to cool down.
  • Do not place the appliance or the power cable on to hot surfaces, e.g. cookers or similar or anywhere near flames! Warning! Risk of burns from hairspray! Do not use flammable substances, such as hairspray, mousse, etc, on your hair before using the appliance as this can cause burns when the substance comes into contact with the straightening plates!
  • The appliance must only be used on dry natural hair. Do not use on artificial hair!
  • The appliance is not suitable for straightening animal hair!
  • The installation of a protective device against current faults with a cut-out switch provides additional safety to ensure that the 30mA of your home installation are not exceeded.
  • Unplug the appliance: - If the appliance is not working properly - Before cleaning it - After each use
  • Do not pull on the cable and do not carry the appliance by the cable! Safety instructions for cleaning and maintenance

The appliance is not designed for professional use!11

4. INITIAL USE AND HAIR

STRAIGHTENING Preparing your hair

  • Wash your hair and dry it thoroughly.
  • Comb your hair thoroughly; do not use hairspray or other flammable chemical hair care products.
  • Wrap a towel around your neck to avoid burns. Switching on the appliance Note! During operation or during the cooling phase, place the appliance only on the stand h. FIGURES 1 - 2
  • Use the locking switch g to open the appliance (see fig. 1). Insert the mains plug and switch on the appliance using the ON/OFF switch a. The red ON/OFF control b lights up (see fig. 2). The appliance takes approx. 1 minute to heat up to operating temperature. Straightening long hair FIGURE 3 Hold the appliance at the handle i, always at a safe distance from skin and eyes.   • Part your hair into approx. 4 cm strands.
  • Hold the appliance in the hand as shown in fig. 3.
  • Begin at the roots and lay the prepared strands one at a time between the straightening plates f. Close the appliance and draw the hair straightener slowly from the roots through to the tips of your hair (see fig. 3). Repeat until your hair is as straight as you desire. After finishing styling, let your hair cool down and then comb it through. Straightening short hair Follow the instructions as for long hair, but instead of drawing the appliance through your hair, clamp the strands in the appliance for approx. 10 seconds. Styling hair in curls or waves FIGURES 4 -5 To form curls or waves, you should operate the appliance with both hands. To get a better grip on the appliance, grasp it by the handle area i as well as by the cool-tip e.
  • Open the curl clip d with the lever c. Lay a spread-out hair strand in front of the roller between the opened curl clip d and the appliance (see Figure 4). Starting at the tip, roll the hair strand into a curl (see Figure 5). Let the heat act on the hair strands for a few seconds; then unroll the curl (see Figure 6a). Now open the curl clip for automatic curl release and pull the appliance out of the curl (see Figure 6b). Note! Make sure that the hair strands are not too thick. Switching off the appliance Switch off the appliance using the ON/OFF switch a. Caution, device protection! The appliance can be damaged by overheating! Make sure that the appliance is open during the cooling phase. Caution! Risk of burns from the straightening plates and hot appliance parts!
  • This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
  • Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.12 The appliance requires a cooling phase of approx. 15 minutes immediately after being switched off. Therefore, never hold the appliance by the curl clip or near the straightening plates when the appliance is still hot. Both the straightening plates and the curl clip can cause burns. Avoid any contact between hot appliance parts and your skin and eyes. Never transport the appliance when it is hot!

5. CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

  • Risk of electrocution! Switch the appliance off before cleaning it and unplug it.
  • Risk of burns! It is essential to leave the appliance to cool down completely.
  • Before cleaning the appliance, unplug it from the power socket!
  • Do not put the appliance in water!
  • Look after your appliance! Do not use sharp or abrasive cleaning agents!
  • You can clean your appliance with a slightly damp cloth and dry it with a soft dry cloth.
  • If the straightening plates get dirty, use some drops of washing-up liquid to help to clean them. Make sure that you remove all remnants of the detergent from the straightening plates! Protecting the environment
  • The packaging materials and the appliance with its accessories are made from recyclable materials.
  • Appropriate sorting and disposal of the materials helps them to be recycled.

6. INFORMATION FOR THE CORRECT

DISPOSAL OF ELECTRICAL AND

ELECTRONIC APPLIANCES At the end of its working life, the product must not be disposed of as urban waste. It must be taken to a special local authority differentiated waste collection centre or to a dealer providing this service.
