- Extract the appliance and all its accessories from the packaging, remove the possible labels from the appliance and check that the product is intact.
If not, consult the closest authorised Technical Attention Service.
- Clean all the parts except for the base body (J) in hot water and with neutral soap before using it.
To clean inside the base body (J), use a damp dishcloth. - Rinse and dry completely.
5. HOW TO USE IT
- Fit the base body (J) on a firm and stable surface, far from anything which could be damaged by the steam (such as walls and overhead cupboards).
- Fill the deposit (G) inside the base body (J) with tap water. The water level should be between the MAX and MIN markets (Fig. 2)
Caution: Do not add anything other than water to the deposit (G) nada que no sea agua.
- Fit the drip tray (E) on the base body (J) and make sure that it is properly adjusted (Fig. 3). If you wish, you can put herbs or spices in the aromatising filter (F) to add flavour.
Caution: Do not use the appliance without the drip tray (E). The appliance base (J) must always be covered by the drip tray.
- Put the food in the baskets. See the section on "USING THE BASKETS". Make sure that the top basket fits correctly over the lower one before switching the machine on.
- Fit the lid on the top basket (A).
- Plug the appliance into the mains and the pilot light will come on (Fig.4). Select the cooking time with the timer (L). In order to select the time, you can consult the recommended time table. In 30 seconds it will start to emit steam.
Caution: The timer works independently of whether the appliance is plugged into the mains or not. Make sure that the pilot light is on when the timer is programmed.
Caution: During operation, do not touch the base, the baskets or the lid given that they get very hot.
7. When the steaming has finished, the timer will ring and the steam function
will disconnect automatically and the pilot light will go out.
- Once you have finished using the appliance, unplug it from the mains and let it cool completely before removing the drip tray (E) and keep it to one side.
- In order to avoid the food over-cooking, remove the basket immediately, using a handle for warm containers and put it on a plate or on the underside of the lid. If you use the container for rice, remove this carefully holding it on both sides and, if necessary, use a long handled kitchen utensil.
Caution:
In order to avoid scalding due to hot steam, use an oven-glove or a handle for hot containers when removing the lid or the baskets.
Remove the lid (A) slowly with the inside of the lid away from you and let the steam escape gradually. Hold the lid over the unit to allow the condensation to drain into the steam cooker. (Fig 5).
Do not stand close to the appliance during the cooking process. If you need to check the progress of the cooking or to stir, use a long handled utensil.
Caution:
Be very careful when removing the drip tray
(E). Even though some of the unit's parts are cold, the water in the deposit and on the tray can still be hot.
Do not switch the appliance on if the baskets and the lid are not correctly fitted on the appliance.
6. USING THE BASKETS
a) Number 2 is the larger basket and 1 is smaller. The numbers are etched on the basket handles (Fig. 6).
b) When fitting the baskets one on top of each other, make sure that the top basket has fitted correctly on the lower basket.
c) Always put the largest pieces of food with the longest cooking time in the lower basket.
d) You can put different food in the top basket and the lower basket, but the
condensation will drip from the top basket, make sure that the flavours are compatible.
e) If you are steaming meet or poultry and vegetables, always put the meat in the lower basket so that the raw or partially cooked meat juices do not drip on the other food.
f) The cooking times for the food in the top basket are slightly longer, so add 5 minutes extra.
g) If you are going to cook several foods with different cooking times, put the food with the greatest cooking time in the lower basket and switch the appliance on. Then, when the remaining time corresponds to the foods with the shortest cooking times, remove the lid carefully and put the remaining baskets on top of the lower basket. Cover and continue the steam cooking.
7. WATER REFILL DURING COOKING
The recipes with long cooking time can require the deposit to be refilled. Regularly check the water level through the deposit spout (I).
- When you see that the water level is close to the MIN, fill the deposit through the spout (I) (Fig 7).
Caution: Do not make the appliance operate without water as it can negatively affect resistance.
- When the appliance runs out of water, it cools down and the food cooking stops, but the timer continues. For this reason, when you refill the water deposit you must check the timer and if necessary select the remaining cooking time again.
8. COOKING EGGS
- Place the steam cooker as described in "HOW TO USE IT".
- Place the eggs in the egg holders in the baskets (Fig. 8).
- Fit the lid on the top part.
- Adjust the timer (L) for the desired or recommended cooking time.
9. COOKING RICE
- Place the steam cooker as described in "HOW TO USE IT".
- Place the rice container (B) on a basket fitted on the la base (Fig 9).
- Put 1 cup of rice and 1 1/2 cups of water in the rice container (B). (maximum 250g of rice).
- Cover the container with the lid (A).
- Adjust the timer for the desired or recommended cooking time.
10. USEFUL ADVICE
- The exact steam cooking times will vary according to the height the food is placed. When cooking very high up, the times might have to be increased.
- The steam cooking times established in the tables are just guidelines. The times can vary depending on the size of the food pieces, the volume of the food in the baskets, the freshness of the food and personal taste. Adjust the cooking time as you become more familiar with the steamer.
- A simple layer of food is cooked faster than various layers. Therefore, the cooking time will be increased for a large quantity of foods.
- In order to obtain better results, make sure that the food pieces are similar in size. If the parts vary in size and various layers required, put the smallest pieces in the top part.
- Do not overfill the baskets and food containers. Order the food with spaces between them to allow maximum steam to flow through.
- When steaming large quantities of food, remove the lid halfway during the cooking time and stir using a long-handled utensil, protecting your hands from the steam with oven gloves.
- Do not add salt or seasoning to the basket until after cooking. This prevents possible damage to the heating element located in the water container.
-
Keep the drip tray liquid to make soups, sauces and stock.
-
No not steam frozen meat, poultry or seafood. Defrost them completely before cooking.
- All the times given in the "Steam cooking guide" use cold water in the water container.
Recommendations for the seasoner:
Add fresh or dry herbs to the aromatising filter to season the healthy food. By using the aromatising filter:
a) Try using the list of condiments in the steam cooking guide or use your favourite herbs to create new combinations.
b) The flavouring suggestions are 1/2 to 3 teaspoons of dried herbs or spices. If you use fresh herbs, cut up the leaves and triple the quantity.
c) To stop the small herbs or ground spices falling into the aromatising filter, rinse or dampen the filter before adding the seasoning.
11. MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING
CLEANING
- All maintenance and cleaning operations must be carried out with the appliance unplugged.
- Do not submerge the base body, the cable or the plug in water.
- Leave the appliance to cool completely before cleaning.
- Do not clean any part of the unit with abrasive cleaning agents, for example, degreasing powder, aluminium stripper or bleach.
- Do not clean the plastic containers and baskets with the abrasive side of sponges.
- We recommend that you clean the lid (A), the rice container (B) and the baskets in hot water with liquid soap. Rinse and dry completely.
- All the parts except the base body (J) can be cleaned in the dishwasher in the top basket on fast cycle. However, continuous cleaning in a dishwasher can make then lose their shine and colour.
-
Empty the water deposit (G) and change the water after each use.
-
To clean inside the base body, use a damp dishcloth.
10.Clean the unit on a regular base.
12. DESCALING THE WATER CONTAINER
After constant use for 2-3 months, scale can be deposited in the water deposit (G) and on the heating element. This is a normal process and the incrustation will depend on the hardness of the water in the area. It is essential that the appliance is descaled regularly to maintain the steam production and prolong the unit's life.
- Fill the water deposit up to "MAX" level with white wine vinegar (not red wine vinegar).
IMPORTANT: do not use any other chemical or commercial descaler.
- Plug the appliance into the mains. The drip tray, the baskets and the lid should be correctly fitted in place during this procedure.
- Programme the timer for 25 minutes to start steam cooking.
WARNING: if the vinegar overflows when it starts to boil, disconnect the unit and disconnect the timer. Reduce the quantity of vinegar slightly.
- When the timer (L) rings, disconnect from the mains and let it cool completely before pouring the vinegar away.
- Rinse the water container several times with cold water.
13. COOKING TIME TABLE AND RECIPIES
- The steaming times established in the tables are just guidelines. The times can vary depending on the size of the food pieces, the volume of the food in the baskets, the freshness of the food and personal taste. Adjust the cooking time as you become more familiar with the steamer.
- The steaming times are for the quantities established in the guide or recipe. For larger or smaller quantities, adjust the time accordingly.
- The steaming times refer to the food cooked in the lower basket, unless established specifically otherwise. The food to cook in the top basket could require a slightly longer cooking time.
- All the times established in the guide and the recipes refer to using cold water.
VEGETABLES
