Special safety instructions

  • Connect the steam cooker only to a duly installed 230 V, 50 Hz socket.
  • Place the appliance on a level surface. Make sure that the wire and the appliance are not placed on hot surfaces or near sources of heat. Lay out the wire so that it does not come into contact with sharp objects.
  • Do not bend the wire and do not wind around the appliance.
  • Should the appliance fall into water, pull it out of the water only if the wire is not connected to the socket! Do not use it until it has been examined by an authorized technician. The same applies also if the wire or the appliance are damaged or if the steam cooker has fallen.
  • If the appliance is not used according to the instructions or incorrectly, the manufacturer is not liable for the resulting damage!
  • When using electrical heating devices extremely high temperatures (e.g. hot water, hot steam, heating element) capable of causing severe burns are generated. Use the handles to hold the lid and the locks. Inform also other users of the potential dangers!
  • Do not place the steam cooker near a wall (minimum distance: 10 cm) or under hanging cabinet. Never place anything on the appliance. Do not cover the steam openings during use. The steam must be able to escape freely.

Before Using for the First Time

  • Remove the packaging.
  • We recommend that you clean the accessories as described under „Cleaning“.

Information on Installation and Use

Position the appliance near a socket. Make sure that the surface is level, dry, non-slip and resistant to heat and that there is no enough space from the wall or the furniture.

CAUTION:

  • Do not place the steam cooker under hanging cabinets!
  • The steam unit and the accessories are not to be used in stoves (microwave, re-circulated air or traditional) or on stoves!

Instant Steam Function

By means of the special steam pipe you can obtain the first steam after a few seconds. This component covers the heating element and regulates the subsequent water. To this purpose place this component – with the small indentation facing downwards – over the heating element before cooking.

Filling with Water

i NOTE:

Pour only clear, clean water into the water container. Do not use other liquids in the container. Do not add any salt, pepper, etc.

  • The filling level of the water container can be read off on the water level indicator.
  • Fill in water up to the maximum mark.
  • For cooking times of more than 15 min you should always fill the tank up to the maximum mark.

Drip tray for condensation

Insert the collection dish in the bottom part.

Using only one Steaming Dish

  • Place a cooking tray in a steaming dish.
  • Place the steaming dish on the collection dish.
  • Place vegetables, fish or other food - without sauces or liquids - into the steaming dish. The steam escape holes must not be covered completely!
    • Finally, place the lid in position.

Using two or three Steaming Dishes

  • Place the cooking trays in the steaming dishes.
  • Place a steaming dish on the collection dish.
  • Put the largest piece of food to be cooked with the longest cooking time in the bottom steaming dish.
  • Place a connection frame in position.
  • Put the second steaming dish on the connection frame.
  • Now place the food to be cooked here.
  • If you would also like to use the third steaming dish, place another connection frame on the second steaming dish.
    • Finally, place the lid in position.

Use of the Rice Bowl

- Place the rice or other foods with sauce or liquid in the rice bowl.

Electrical Connection

  • Place the device on a heat-resistant surface.
  • Make sure that the timer is turned to 0 (off).
  • Connect the device to a properly installed 230 V, 50 Hz socket with earthing a contact.

Initial Operation

After you have filled in some water, place the steaming dishes and the lid in position.

Switching On

Select a cooking time on the timer. The control lamp goes on and after a few minutes steam is formed.

Switching Off

Turn the timer back to 0 and remove the mains plug from the socket.

Replenishing with Water

The opening on the right-hand side of the base makes it possible to fill in water during operation. It is not necessary to remove the steaming dishes.

  • If the water level should fall during operation, use an appropriate vessel to pour water slowly into this opening.
  • Please note the level on the water level indicator.

Stopping Operation

When the timer has run down the control lamp goes off. Then remove the mains plug from the socket.

WARNING!

When handling or removing the hot components always use oven cloths or oven gloves to avoid getting burned by the hot steam!

Cleaning

  • Always remove the mains plug before cleaning and wait until the device has cooled down.
  • Do not use any wire brushes or other abrasive objects.
  • Do not use any acidic or scouring agents.

WARNING!

Under no circumstances should you immerse the base of the steam cooker in water in order to clean it, as otherwise this might result in an electric shock or fire.

Cleaning the Outside of the Base

- Wipe the outside of the base only with a damp cloth and then dry with a different cloth.

Tank

  • Pour any residual water out of the tank.
  • Then wipe the tank dry with a cloth.

Cleaning the Lid, Steaming Dishes, Cooking Trays, Connection Frames, Collection Dish, Steam Pipe

CAUTION:

Do not clean these parts in the dishwasher. The clear plastic surfaces might become dull.

• These parts can be cleaned by hand in soapy water.
- Rinse off with clear water and dry the parts off.

Decalcifying

In case of hard water lime gradually deposits on the heating element. This can lead to the premature end of the steaming process before the food is cooked.

  • To avoid this problem, after using the appliance 7-10 times put 3 cups of vinegar in the water container and fill it to the MAX mark with water.
  • Do not put the lid on the appliance nor the steam and rice bowls nor the collection dish in the steam cooker.
  • Insert the mains plug into a socket and set the clock to 30 minutes. A Once the timer has run down, remove the plug from the socket. Leave the appliance to cool.
  • Pour out the contents of the water container. Rinse the water container several times with cold water.

Preparation Instructions

General

  • The following times are only a guide and may vary depending upon circumstances.
  • If you are using several steaming dishes the total preparation time will be approximately 5 minutes longer.
  • Large pieces or foods known to have a long cooking time should always be placed on the bottom cooking tray.
  • Do not choose too large a quantity of food or food which is itself too large so that the steam can pass through the unblocked holes of the cooking tray.
  • Defrost meat and poultry before cooking it.
  • Liquids which collect in the drip tray can be used for soups and sauces.

Rice

1) There are various types of rice. Follow the specific cooking instructions for each type.
2) Measure the rice and water precisely and pour into the rice bowl. Put the lid on and switch on the steam cooker.
3) Check whether the rice is cooked as specified by the cooking time. Stir the rice.

4) When checking/stirring the rice, make sure that the condensed water does not drip into the rice bowl. It will alter the quality and the taste of the rice.

5) After steaming the rice, spice it with salt, pepper or butter.

Vegetables/Fruit

1) Wash the vegetables well. Cut the stems and peal or chop the vegetables as required by the recipe. Smaller pieces cook faster than large ones.
2) The quantity, freshness, size/consistency and the temperature of frozen foods can influence the steaming time. The quantity of water and the cooking time vary according to the desired result.
3) Frozen vegetables are not to be thawed before steaming.

Fish and Seafood

1) The cooking time provided in the table is for fresh, frozen and thawed seafood and fi sh. Clean and wash the fresh seafood and fi sh well before steaming.
2) Almost all types of fish and seafood cook fast. Steam cook them in small portions or in the specified quantities.
3) The time varies for the opening of large and small mussels and oysters. Check the shells to avoid that they boil. Do not eat mussels whose shell does not open after steaming to avoid food poisoning!
4) Fish fi lets can be steamed also in the rice bowl.
