INSTALLATION, USE AND MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS

FOR YOUR SAFETY

Important: please read these instructions carefully to familiarise yourself with the unit prior to connecting it to the gas cylinder. Keep these instructions for future reference.

• This unit is for outdoor use only.
• Warning: accessible parts may be very hot. Keep young children away from the unit.
• Check that the gaskets (between the unit and the gas cylinder) are in place and intact prior to mounting the gas cylinder.

Rubber gasket

• Do not use the unit if the gaskets are damaged or worn.
• Do not use the unit if there is a gas leak in the cylinder or if the cylinder is damaged or does not work properly.
• Always use the unit on a horizontal surface.
• Operate the unit at a safe distance from flammable materials. Minimum distance from walls or ceilings is 1 m.
• Always replace cylinders outdoors, and not in the vicinity of ignition sources such as fire, pilot flames, electric fires, and away from other persons.
• If there is a gas leak in your appliance (gas odour), immediately take it outside into a well-ventilated area free of open fire, where the gas

leak can be located and stopped.

• Checking your appliance for gas leaks should always be done in the open air.
• Never locate gas leaks with a gas flame, always use soapy water.

- If you smell gas:

1) Turn off the gas supply to the unit
2) Extinguish any open flame
3) Open lid
4) If odour continues, immediately call your gas supplier or fire department
5) Never store or use gasoline or other flammable liquids and vapours in the vicinity of this or any other appliance
6) Store the cylinder outdoors in a well-ventilated area

- Never store spare gas cylinders or other fuels closer than 3 m from the appliance.

- Improper installation can be dangerous. Follow the instructions carefully.

- If the unit has not been used for a prolonged period of time, it must be checked for gas leaks prior to use. Also check that the burner ports are not blocked.

- Ensure that the unit is not left unattended during operation. Never move the unit during operation.

- Never use charcoal, wood, briquettes, lava rocks or ceramic briquettes.

MOUNTING A GAS CYLINDER (GAS CARTRIDGE)

Use only non-refillable gas cylinders with a screw valve, filled with a butane/propane mix. Only the following cylinders may be used:

• Coleman 70 butane / 30 propane model C500 or C250
- Campingaz CG1750
• Primus 220693/220793/220293

Use of other cylinders can be dangerous. Cylinders must comply with European standard EN417 2003.

The Tam Tam has a nominal power of 3.42 kW and a consumption of 0.129 m ^3 /h (244g/hr).

Method:

Check that the control knob is in the ‘-’ position and the burner is extinguished, before unscrewing the cylinder. Inspect the gaskets before screwing on a new cylinder. Replace the cylinder outdoors and away from other persons.

Screw the cylinder all the way down into the barbecue. Check for gas leaks, using a soap solution. Apply soap solution to the various gas-carrying parts of the Tam Tam. The formation of air bubbles indicates a gas leak.

Prior tose, upour water into the fat drip tray. Check every 30 min. and top up, if necessary.

After use, when the fat drip tray has cooled sufficiently, you can pour out the water together with the fat.

Allow the barbecue to warm up before placing any food on it. Avoid moving the unit when it is hot. If absolutely necessary, move the unit only by lifting it with the 2 handles on the side.

First use

When using your gas barbecue for the first time, you must first allow the unit to run in by operating itf or a short period of time without any food. For this, you ignite the barbecue, close the lid and keep the temperature at "LOW" for 15 minutes. You then open the lid and allow the barbecue to operate for another 5 minutes at 'H GH'

IGNITION

Automatic ignition

• Open the lic
• Make sure the burner control knob is turned '-'
• Turn burner control knob down to +'.
• Turn the button several times, so you hear it click each time.
• Check that the burner is lit. Looking through the grid, you should see the flames.

VOLUME

Note: To extinguish, turn the control knob clockwise to the '-' position.

Warning:

• If the burner does not light, turn the control knob to '-' and wait 5 minutes before trying again.
• Do not lean over the open grill. Keep your face and body at least 40 cm away from the unit when lighting it.

Manual ignition

• Open the lid
• Make sure the burner control knob is turned '-'
• Turn the control knob to '+'
• Strike a match and hold the burning match close to the burr er
• Check that the burner is lit. Looking through the grid, you should see the flames.

Note: To extinguish, push in and turn the control knob clockwise to the '-' position. During lighting and preheating, the flames may lift off the burner. This phenomenon should not last longer than 60 seconds. If the phenomenon persists, the appliance must be switched off and inspected.

Warning:

• If the burner does not light, turn the control knob to '-' and wait 5 minutes before trying again.
• Do not lean over the open grill. Keep your face and body at least 40 cm away from the unit when lighting it.

The power can be adjusted by turning the control <nob. To switch off the barbecue, turn the control <nob to '-'.

Do not close the lid until the control knob is in the position 'LOW'

REPLACING A GAS CYLINDER (GAS CARTRIDGE)

Check that the gas cylinder is empty before replacing it. Shake the appliance to hear the sound made by the liquid gas. Check that the burner is extinguished before unscrewing the gas cylinder. Check the gaskets before screwing on a new cylinder. Replace the cylinder outdoors and away from other persons.

MAINTENANCE AND STORAGE

A fouled injector or burner can be blown out with compressed air. Always inspect the gasket in the screw cap when replacing the gas cylinder. If it is worn or damaged, it must be replaced. Do not make any alterations to the appliance.

When not in use, store the unit in an upright position in a dry, well-ventilated area.

GUARANTEE

Your barbecook® appliance comes with a two year guarantee against all manufacturing defects. This guarantee applies from the date of purchase, provided it is used in accordance with these instructions. Your till receipt specifying the date of purchase is your certificate of guarantee.

This barbecook ^® is not suitable for commercial use.

This guarantee is limited to the repair or replacement of parts which prove defective under normal use and service.

This guarantee shall not apply to defects due to

improper installation, incorrect use, alterations to the appliance, disassembly of the appliance, wear and tear, or lack of maintenance.

TROUBLESHOOTING
