Hotkeys
The computer employs hotkeys or key combinations to access most of the computer's controls like screen brightness and volume output.
To activate hotkeys, press and hold the key before pressing the other key in the hotkey combination.

Connecting to the Internet
Your computer's wireless connection is turned on by default.
Windows will detect and display a list of available networks during setup. Select your network and enter the password if required.
Otherwise, open Internet Explorer and follow the instructions. Please also refer to your ISP or router documentation.

Instant Connect ensures a faster connection to any of the networks that your computer connects to most frequently.
Power management
This computer has a built-in power management unit that monitors system activity, such as activity involving one or more of the following devices: keyboard, mouse, hard disk, peripherals connected to the computer, and video memory. If no activity is detected for a period of time, the computer stops some or all of these devices in order to conserve energy.
Acer Green Instant On

Note: For selected models only.
The Acer Green Instant On feature allows your computer to wake up from Sleep mode in less than the time it takes to open the lid. When you close the lid, or leave your computer for a while, your computer enters Sleep mode. While the computer is in Sleep mode, the power indicator LED will flash orange.
Open the lid or press any key to wake the computer from Sleep mode.
After a certain amount of time in Sleep mode, the computer will automatically enter Deep Sleep to preserve battery life. When the computer is in Deep Sleep, the power indicator LED will be turned off. In this state, battery remains ready to use for many weeks.
Press the power button to wake up from Deep Sleep.

Note: Once in Deep Sleep, your PC will consume significantly less power compared with Sleep mode, but it will take a little longer to wake up from Deep Sleep.
Deep Sleep and Sleep mode work together to ensure that your computer saves as much power as possible while still enabling quick, instant on access.
To save more power, your computer will typically enter and stay in Deep Sleep during times when it will not be frequently accessed, for example, during the middle of the night. To provide quicker access, your computer will enter and stay in Sleep mode during times when it will be frequently accessed, for example, during working hours.

Acer Instant Connect
The Instant Connect function ensures faster connection to any of the networks that your computer has connected to before.
Power Management
This computer has a built-in power management unit that monitors system activity, controlling the activity of individual components, such as: keyboard, mouse, optical disk, peripheral devices connected to the computer, and video memory. If during a certain time interval no activity is detected from one or more of these devices, the computer will stop some or all of these devices to save energy.
Acer Green Instant On

Note: Only for certain models.
The "Green" Acer Green Instant On function can wake your computer from Sleep mode faster than opening the lid. After closing the lid or inactivity for a certain period of time, the computer enters Sleep mode. While the computer is in Sleep mode, the power indicator blinks orange.
To wake the computer from Sleep mode, open the lid or press any key.
After some time in Sleep mode, the computer automatically enters "Deep Sleep" mode to extend battery life. When the computer enters "Deep Sleep" mode, the power indicator turns off. In this state, the battery remains ready for use for several weeks.
To wake the computer from "Deep Sleep" mode, press the power button.

Note: In "Deep Sleep" mode, your PC consumes much less energy than in Sleep mode, but it takes a bit longer to exit "Deep Sleep" mode.
Combining "Deep Sleep" and Sleep modes allows the computer to save maximum energy while still being able to quickly activate it.
To further reduce power consumption, the computer will enter "Deep Sleep" mode during periods when it is not usually used, for example, at night. To shorten activation time, the computer will enter Sleep mode during periods when it is used most often, for example, during working hours.

The Acer Green Instant On function allows your computer to wake from sleep mode in a shorter time than that required to open the lid. When you close the lid or turn off the computer for a short time, your computer enters sleep mode. While your computer is in sleep mode, the power LED indicator blinks with an orange color.
Avoid leaving the computer in sleep mode for a long time.
After a certain period of time in sleep mode, the computer automatically switches to hibernate mode or a deeper sleep state. When the computer is in hibernate mode, the power LED is off. In this state, the battery retains its charge for a longer period.
Press the power button to wake the computer from sleep mode.
