Before installation, follow these essential steps: set the ADVANCED (mode select) switch on the UA-1EX to ON (without this step, installation is impossible); disconnect all USB cables except for keyboard and mouse; close all active applications and antivirus software.

Double-click on the UA1EXUSBDriver.pkg file, accept the terms, select your startup disk as the installation destination, then click [Install] or [Upgrade]. The system will prompt you to restart. After restarting, go to System Preferences > Sound and select EDIROL UA-1EX 44.1 kHz (or your device's sampling rate) as the input and output device. Important note: the UA-1EX does not work in the Classic environment of Mac OS X.

If you are using Mac OS 9, install the driver from the Driver E (Mac OS 9) folder on the CD-ROM. For optimal use with ASIO-compatible software (Cubase, Logic, Digital Performer), also install the corresponding ASIO driver located in the Driver E (Mac OS 9) - ASIO folder.

For macOS 10.12 Sierra and later versions: Roland/Edirol has discontinued official support for the UA-1EX for recent macOS versions.
