The AKG WMS 470 system uses infrared synchronization to pair the transmitter and receiver. Before you begin, make sure you have at least two AA batteries (alkaline or rechargeable) and that both devices are close to each other.

Step 1: Turn on the receiver. Connect the SR 470 receiver to a 12V power source (power adapter provided) or insert the AA batteries into its battery compartment. The receiver will turn on and display the current frequency on its LCD screen.

Step 2: Select a frequency on the receiver. Use the menu buttons to navigate to the "GROUP/CHANNEL" menu and select an available frequency group (100 preset channels cover the UHF band 500-865 MHz). You can also use the "AUTO" menu to start an automatic search for interference-free channels. Confirm your choice: the frequency will be displayed on the receiver's LCD screen.

Step 3: Prepare the transmitter in programming mode. Install an AA battery in the transmitter (HT 470 or PT 470 transmitter). Set the three-position switch "ON-MUTE/PRG-OFF" (19) to the middle position "MUTE/PRG". The LCD screen of the transmitter will alternate between the current frequency and "PRG IR" to indicate that it is ready to receive settings from the receiver.

Step 4: Synchronize via infrared. Point the infrared sensor (17) located on the front of the transmitter directly at the infrared transmitter (8) of the receiver, at a maximum distance of 10 cm (4 inches). Hold this position for a few seconds. The infrared will then transmit the selected frequency, audio gain (HI or LO), and receiver settings to the transmitter. The infrared sensor of the WMS 470 has a very narrow radiation angle (about 10°) to ensure that only one transmitter will be tuned to the same frequency.

Step 5: Remove the transmitter from programming mode. Once the display of the transmitter stabilizes, switch the "ON-MUTE/PRG-OFF" switch to the "ON" position. The transmitter is now active and operates on the frequency synchronized with the receiver. The status LED (20) will light up green.

Step 6: Check the connection. Speak into the transmitter's microphone and observe the audio bar graph (d) on the receiver's LCD screen. If the signal level rises, the synchronization is successful. The "LOCK" symbol will also confirm that the receiver is correctly receiving the RF signal from the transmitter.

Tip: if you have multiple transmitters to synchronize, repeat steps 3 and 4 for each transmitter. Each transmitter will receive the receiver's settings via infrared, without needing to change the frequency on the receiver.
