USER MANUAL VT-1539 W Vitek
The deep fryer is intended for frying different food products (mostly potatoes, vegetables, meat, fish, dough, mushrooms) in hot frying fat; you can use vegetable oil or cooking fat as frying fat.

ATTENTION!
In case of dropping of the deep fryer, hot oil can cause serious burns, that is why provide that the power cord does not hang from the edge of the operating surface and is out of reach of children.
SAFETY MEASURES
Read this instruction manual carefully before using the deep fryer and keep it for the whole operation period. Use the unit according to its intended purpose only, as it is stated in this user manual. Mishandling the unit can lead to its breakage and cause harm to the user or damage to his/her property.
- Before plugging the unit in, make sure that the operating voltage of the unit corresponds to voltage of your mains.
- The power cord is equipped with a "europlug"; plug it into the socket with reliable grounding contact.
- To avoid risk of fire or electric shock, do not use adapters for connecting the unit to the mains.
- Place the unit on a flat, stable heat-resistant surface with free access to the mains socket.
- Use the unit in places with proper ventilation. To avoid fire, never place the unit near blinds or curtains and do not cover it during operation.
- Do not place the unit near inflammable substances, carton, paper or plastic.
- Do not let the power cord hang from the table, the power cord must not come in contact with hot surfaces or sharp edges of kitchen furniture.
- Do not use the unit outdoors.
- Do not switch the unit on if there is no oil in the bowl.
- Never leave the unit unattended when it is operating and when the frying oil hasn't cooled off.
• To avoid steam burns, do not bend over the unit. - Do not leave the deep fryer lid open during the unit operation.
- Be careful: the unit body heats up strongly during operation, do not touch its hot surfaces.
- Ensure that the oil level in the deep fryer is not below the minimal mark "MIN" and not above the maximal mark "MAX".
- When working with hot oil, use only heat-resistant kitchen tools with thermally insulated handles.
• Never pour out hot oil, let it cool off.
- If possible, put dry ingredients into the deep fryer, as getting even of a little moisture into hot oil leads to oil splashing.
- Do not overload the unit with food products. It may lead to their inflammation.
- In case of oil inflammation, unplug the unit immediately and cover the unit with a thick and, if possible, non-burning cloth.
NEVER POUR WATER ON FIRE!
- Do not move the unit until the frying oil cools down completely. Use the handles on the body of the unit to carry it.
• Always unplug the unit before cleaning or when you do not use the deep fryer.
- When disconnecting the power plug from the mains, do not pull the cord, but hold the plug with your hand.
- Do not touch the power plug with wet hands.
- Do not use the unit near the kitchen sink, do not expose the unit to moisture.
- To avoid electric shock, do not immerse the power cord, the power plug or the unit itself in water or any other liquids. If the unit was dropped into water, DO NOT TOUCH the unit, unplug it immediately, and only after that you may take the unit out of the water. Apply to an authorized service center for testing and repairing the unit.
- Do not allow children to touch the unit and the power cord during operation.
- Do not allow children to use the unit as a toy.
- This unit is not intended for usage by children under 8 years of age. Place the unit out of reach of children under 8 years of age during the operation and cooling down of the deep fryer.
- Children aged 8 and over as well as disabled persons can use this unit only under supervision of a person who is responsible for their safety, if they are given all the necessary and understandable instructions concerning the safe usage of the unit and information about danger that can be caused by its improper usage.
- Keep the unit out of reach of children.
- For children safety reasons, do not leave polyethylene bags, used as a packaging, unattended.
Attention! Do not allow children to play with polyethylene bags or packaging film. Danger of suffocation!
- Check the power cord and plug integrity periodically. Do not use the unit if its body, power plug or power cord have damages.
- To avoid damages, transport the unit in original package only.
- Do not repair the unit by yourself. If you find any damages, unplug the unit and apply to an authorized service center.
After unit transportation or storage at low temperature, it is necessary to keep it for at least two hours at room temperature before switching on.

- Unpack the unit completely and remove any stickers that can prevent unit operation.
- Check the unit for damages, do not use it in case of damages.
- Before switching the unit, on make sure that your home mains voltage corresponds to unit operating voltage.
- Wipe the outer and inner surfaces of the unit body with a soft damp cloth and then wipe dry.
Warning: Provide that no water gets into the bowl for oil.
- Holding the lid (8) with your hand, open it by pressing the button (4) (pic. 1).
- Wash the removable parts - the bowl for oil (5), the basket (7) and the lid (8) - thoroughly with warm water and a neutral detergent. Attach the handle (6) to the basket (7). To do this, press the metal legs of the handle (6) together and insert them into the grooves located in the inner part of the basket. Then, with light pressing, fix the handle (6) in the holder on the upper rim of the basket (7).
- Dry the bowl for oil (5) thoroughly and install it into the process chamber.
Viewing window
To avoid weeping of the viewing window (9), lubricate the inner surface with vegetable oil.
Temperature control knob
The temperature control knob (3) provides maintenance of oil temperature in the bowl (5), the temperature range from 130 to 190°C gives wide possibilities for cooking of different products.
Operation indicator
The red color of the indicator (2) shows that the unit is operating in the heating mode. When the indicator goes out, this means that the oil temperature in the bowl set with the control knob (3) is reached.
COOKING
- Set the deep fryer on a dry, stable heat-resistant surface.
- Insert the bowl for oil (5) into the deep fryer body.
Attention: Usage of the unit without the bowl for oil is strictly forbidden.
- Fill the bowl (5) with about 1,6 liters of oil of good quality in such way that the oil level is between the minimal and maximal marks on the inner surface of the bowl (5) and close the lid (8) (pic. 2, 3).
Note:
- It is recommended to use only high-quality refined vegetable oils (sunflower seed or corn oil) and not to use margarine or butter, as they do not endure high temperature.
- You can use a mixture of animal and vegetable fats for frying, according to the recommended recipes.
- Insert the power plug into the mains socket.

Switch the unit on by pressing the button (1), the heating indicator (2) will light up.

Set the heating temperature by turning the temperature control knob (3) to the necessary digital indication (see «Cooking recommendations» section).
- When the oil heats up to the set temperature, the indicator (2) will go out.
- Put the necessary quantity of products into the basket (7) (products should be dry).
- Open the lid of the deep fryer (8). Carefully put the basket into the bowl; avoid splashing. The curves of the handle (6) should tightly embrace the edge of the bowl (5), and the projection on the deep fryer body should be between the two guides of the handle (6). Close the lid.
- After you finish frying, open the removable lid (8) and set the basket in a suitable position to let the excess oil or fat drip off. For this purpose there is a corresponding support on the side surface of the basket under the removable handle (pic. 4).
- Switch the unit off with the button (1) and unplug the unit.
Note
- Before repeated frying, wait until vegetable oil or fat reaches the required temperature level each time you put a new portion of food into the unit.
TIPS
Oil
Use vegetable oil of high quality, refined oil is preferred.
• Pour oil into the bowl (5) before switching the unit on.
• Filter oil after each usage.
- Perform filtration of oil in the following way: after cooking unplug the unit and let the oil cool down completely; put filter paper or a thin cotton cloth into a metal sieve or a strainer and filter the oil.
• Do not mix up different types of oil.
- At long intervals between cooking of product portions, switch the deep fryer off by pressing the button (1).
- It is better to fry products with high content of water (for instance, potatoes) in small intervals; take the basket out and shake the content of the basket periodically.
- After frying of a food portion, remove the remaining products from the oil immediately, this way you can prolong the oil life.
• Regularly change oil (approximately after 8-12 uses).
- Oil should be changed if it starts bubbling while heating, if it has unpleasant taste or odor, as well as if it darkened or became dense.
- If you use the deep fryer seldom, store oil or fat in closed plastic or glass containers in a cool place (preferably in a fridge).
- Do not store oil in the deep fryer.
Cooking recommendations
- Use high quality refined vegetable oil (for instance, sunflower seed or corn oil).
- When frying several types of products, put products requiring lower processing temperature first.
- Before frying a new food portion, wait for 3-5 minutes till the oil heats up to the required temperature. When

Note: The table shows time of frying in hot oil. Watch the cooking process and correct the frying time by yourself.

- As a rule, heat treated products require higher frying temperature and less cooking time than raw products.
Chips
- To make tasty crisp chips, follow these recommendations: cut potatoes in approximately 0.5 mm thick slices. Do not use new potatoes; rinse the cut potatoes under a cold water jet (it will prevent separate slices from sticking together during cooking); dry the cut and washed potatoes using a clean dish-towel.
Frozen products
- Frozen products should be completely defrosted preliminary to avoid splashing of hot oil.
- Set oil heating temperature as specified on the product package. If there are no such recommendations on the package, set the cooking temperature to 190°C.
- Before starting cooking the next portion of products, wait till the oil heats up to the set temperature and the indicator (2) goes out.
Cleaning and care
- Keep the heating element and the bottom of the bowl for oil (5) clean, otherwise smoke and specific odor of burning oil can appear.
- Unplug the unit and wait till the deep fryer body and the oil cool down completely.
- Remove the basket (7).
- Remove the bowl for oil (5); pour out used oil in a suitable vessel.
Important:
- Do not pour out oil into the sink; dispose of it together with other household waste.
- Oil that is suitable for further usage should be filtered and stored for further usage.
- Remove the lid (8) (pic. 5).

Wash the removable parts: the lid (8), the bowl for oil (5) and the basket (7) with warm water and neutral detergent.

Do not use abrasives and metal brushes.
- Clean the unit body from the inside and outside with a soft damp cloth and then wipe dry.
- Wipe the lid (8) dry and place it on the deep fryer (pic. 6).
- Provide that no liquid gets on the heating element of the unit.
- Do not wash the lid (8) in the dishwashing machine.
Warning:
Never immerse the deep fryer body, the power plug or the power cord into water or other liquids.
Storage
- Clean the unit before taking it away for storage.
- Keep the unit away from children in a dry cool place.
