8. Start up
8.1 Setting up the solar panels (Fig. 1, 4)
For optimal use of the solar panel, choose a location with the highest possible solar radiation and few obstacles (overhanging branches, etc.).
- Open the two clips (2).
- Unfold the solar array panel by panel.
- Pull all adjustable feet (3) off the Velcro fastener and set up the solar panel array.
8.2 Charge controller (Fig. 3)
The charge controller (5) regulates the current between the solar panel and the consumers.
The charge controller (5) has three different connection options, as well as a function light:
- Coax DC power socket 5.5 x 2.1 mm (A) for connecting two solar panels together or direct charging, e.g. of a Powerstation.
- USB-C port (B) for direct charging of various small electrical devices.
- USB-A port (D) for direct charging of various small electrical devices.
- Function light (C) for visual indication that the solar panel is generating power. It lights up red.
8.3 Charging the Scheppach BSG600MAX or BSG1200MAX Powerstation
Please note that the charging current depends on the current sunlight and can therefore vary widely. When the intensity of the sunlight is too low, charging can stop automatically. As soon as the solar panel is exposed to more sunlight again, the charging process starts automatically.
-
Unfold the solar panel completely and face it to the sun.
-
To charge the Powerstation using the enclosed connection cable (7), connect it to the input socket of your Powerstation. You will need the white-coded adapter from the different connectors (8) for this.
-
The charging process will now start automatically.
Note: Please note that the input of your connected DC device must be between 12V and 15V.
8.4 Charging via USB-A (D) or USB-C (B) port (12)
Please note that the charging current depends on the current sunlight and can therefore vary widely. When the intensity of the sunlight is too low, charging can stop automatically. As soon as the solar panel is exposed to more sunlight again, the charging process starts automatically.
- Unfold the solar panel completely and face it to the sun.
- To charge smartphones or tablets using the different USB ports, connect the USB cable of your device to the respective USB port of the solar panel.
- After you have connected the other end of the charging cable to the input socket on your device, the charging process will start automatically.
Note: We recommend realigning the solar panel from time to time during extended use for maximum yield.
Note: On very cloudy days, it is possible that the solar panel will not activate. You see this by whether the function light (C) lights up or not.
