This appliance is designed for ironing clothes and textiles.

It is intended for domestic use.

Any other use is considered improper and may result in damage to property or even personal injury.

Unpacking the Appliance

1. Remove the appliance from its packaging.
2. Remove all packaging material, such as foils, filling material, cable ties and cardboard packaging.
3. Check the scope of delivery for completeness.
4. If the contents of the packaging are incomplete or if damage can be detected, do not operate the appliance. Return it to the dealer immediately.

Warnings for the Use of the Appliance

WARNING: Risk of Burns!

- The sole plate heats up quickly and takes a long time to cool down. Do not touch!

WARNING: Risk of Burns!

• The surfaces are liable to get hot during use.

• When ironing with steam, the iron ejects a lot of hot steam! Never aim the steam jet at people or animals.

• The iron must be used and rested on a flat, stable surface.

• When not in use, place the iron vertically on the stand.
• The iron must not be left unattended while it is connected to the supply mains.
• Only use distilled water!
• The mains plug must be disconnected from the socket before the water tank is filled with water.
• Only fill the water tank to the maximum mark. Do not overfill!

Notes for Use

Unpacking

• Remove any protective film and stickers from the soleplate.
• Unwind the power cable completely.
• Push the lever for the folding handle (7) forwards and pull the handle upwards until it engages.

Infinitely variable temperature control

The symbols on the control correspond to the following settings:

min		The appliance starts with the heating phase.Do not leave unattended! There is a risk of fire!
	(synthetic fibres, artificial silk, silk)	low temperature (ironing without steam)
	(wool) medium temperature
	(cotton, linen) high temperature
max		highest temperature

- To avoid shiny spots when steam ironing pure woollen fabrics, turn the garment over and iron it on the “inside out”. Also place a thin cotton cloth on the fabric.

• Fabrics with an additional surface treatment are best ironed inside out and only at a low temperature.
• The iron heats up faster than it cools down. Therefore, start ironing the laundry at the lowest temperature.

Water

Only use distilled water!

Battery water, water from the tumble dryer and water with additives (such as starch, perfume, fabric softener or other chemicals) should not be poured into the water tank.

This could damage the appliance as residues could form in the steam chamber. These residues can contaminate the ironed items when they fall out through the steam outlet openings.

Electrical Connection

• Make sure that the appliance voltage (see rating plate) and the mains voltage match.
• Only connect the mains plug with a correctly installed earthed socket.

Before First Use

• Clean the soleplate with a slightly damp cloth.
• To remove all residues before first use, iron a few times over an old, clean cloth.

Operation

The appliance can be used with or without steam.

Ironing without Steam

1. Sort the laundry by ironing temperature.
2. Always set the temperature control to min before connecting the appliance to the socket or disconnecting it from the mains.
3. Set the steam volume control (12) to the position. Observe the setting mark for the steam volume control.
4. Place the appliance on its stand or on the designated surface of your ironing board.

5. Insert the mains plug into a correctly installed earthed socket.

6. Set the temperature using the temperature control (6). If you are ironing delicate laundry, start at the lowest temperature.

- The control lamp shows the heating process. As soon as this goes out, the operating temperature has been reached. You can now start ironing.

Ironing with Steam

WARNING: Risk of Burns!

The iron emits a large amount of hot steam.

• Steam ironing requires a high temperature. Set the temperature control (6) within the red limit.
• If the temperature is too low, water often escapes from the soleplate.

• Fill the water tank with distilled water. The tank capacity is approx. 40 ml. Only fill the water tank up to the MAX mark.

• Place the iron horizontally with the soleplate on a heat-resistant surface.

• Raise the cover of the water tank upwards.
• Fill the water tank at the filler opening (11). Use the measuring cup provided.

• Close the water tank cover again.

• To activate the steam function, turn the steam volume control (12) to position I. The control engages audibly.

• Steam is released as soon as you move the iron to the horizontal position.
• Additional steam can be generated with the steam boost function. Press the steam boost button (1) intermittently.

- Vertical Steam Function

This function enables a vertical steam jet.

WARNING: Risk of Burns!

Never aim the steam jet at people or animals.

1. Hang the laundry on a hanger.
2. Set the temperature control (6) to max and bring the iron approx. 3–5 cm close to the laundry.
3. Press the steam boost button (1) intermittently.

- If the amount of steam released is too low, wait until the appliance has heated up again.

- How do I top up the water during operation?

1. Set the steam volume control to the ○ position.
2. Place the iron horizontally with the soleplate on a heat-resistant surface.
3. Switch off the appliance by setting the temperature control to the min position.
4. Disconnect the mains plug from the socket.
5. Open the lid of the filler opening and carefully fill with water.
6. Only fill the water tank up to the Mark.
7. Close the water tank lid.

Ending Operation

1. After use, always set the temperature control to min and unplug the appliance.
2. Empty the water tank to prevent the contents of the water tank from leaking.
3. Allow the appliance to cool down before putting it away.

Cleaning

WARNING:

• Always disconnect the mains plug from the socket before cleaning.
- Wait until the appliance has cooled down completely!
- Never immerse the appliance in water for cleaning. This could lead to an electric shock or fire.

CAUTION:

• Do not use a wire brush or other abrasive objects.

• Do not use harsh or abrasive cleaning agents.

• Clean the housing with a dry cloth.

• Clean the soleplate with a slightly damp cloth.

Storage

• Clean the appliance as described.
• We recommend storing the appliance in its original packaging if you do not intend to use it for a longer period of time.
• Always store the appliance out of the reach of children in a well-ventilated and dry place.
