DANGER
Never perform maintenance or assembly procedures with the engine running, or serious personal injury may result.
Assembling the blow pipe and control handle
- Connect the blower and control pipe with the flexible hose. Clamp both ends of the flexible hose in place. Use the accompanying hardware. Note: Lubricate the pipes a little to facilitate assembly.
- Position the operating handle over the control pipe.
- Rotate the operating handle so that the notch passes over the tabs on the control pipe.
- Align the operating handle with the key of the control pipe. The cabling operating handle must not be twisted during assembly.
- Adjust the position to achieve a comfortable working position. Tighten the throttle handle clamp.

Blower pipe
NOTE: Make sure the screws in the pipes are moved out of the way so they do not cause obstructions during assembly. Assemble the intermediate pipe and the blow pipe. Align the screws with the threaded holes in the pipes. Tighten the screws upon completing assembly of the blow pipes. It is possible to add more intermediate pipes if a longer round blower pipe is required.

PRE-OPERATION
Fuel Requirements
Use only fresh, clean fuel. Mix all fuels with premium 2-cycle engine oil at a gasoline/oil ratio of 50:1.
Mixing Instructions
- Fill an approved fuel container with half of the required amount of gasoline.
2. Add 2-stroke oil to the gasoline.
- Close the container and shake to mix the oil with the gasoline.
- Add the remaining gasoline and remix.
- Install the fuel container cap and wipe any spilled fuel from the container and surrounding area.
Handling Fuel
Fuel is VERY flammable. Use extreme care when mixing, storing, or handling, or serious personal injury may result.
Use an approved fuel container.
DO NOT smoke near fuel.

Fuel tanks/cans may be under pressure. Always loosen fuel caps slowly allowing pressure to equalize.
NEVER refuel a unit when the engine is HOT.
NEVER refuel a unit with the engine running.
DO NOT fill fuel tanks indoors. ALWAYS fill fuel tanks outdoors over bare ground.
Securely tighten fuel cap after refueling.
Inspect for fuel leakage. If fuel leakage is found, do not start or operate until leakage is repaired.
OPERATION
IMPORTANT
Spilled fuel is a leading cause of hydrocarbon emissions.
Some states may require the use of automatic fuel shut-off containers to reduce fuel spillage. Contact your dealer for ordering information.
IMPORTANT
Stored fuel ages. Do not mix more fuel than you expect to use in thirty days, or ninety days when a fuel stabilizer is added.
Stored two-stroke fuel may separate. ALWAYS shake fuel container thoroughly before each use.
After Refueling-
Wipe any spilled fuel from the unit.
Move at least 3m from refueling location before starting.
After use-
DO NOT store a unit with fuel in its tank.
Leaks can occur.
Return unused fuel to an approved fuel storage container.
Storage-
Fuel storage laws vary by locality. Contact your local government for the regulations affecting your area. As a precaution, store fuel in an approved, air tight container.
Store in a well ventilated, unoccupied building, away from sparks and flame. Do not store fuel longer than 30 days.
Recoil starter: Use short pulls-only 1/2-2/3 of rope length for starting.
Don't allow the rope to snap back in. Always hold the unit firmly.
STARTING COLD ENGINE
- Set the stop switch to the "RUN" position.
- Set the choke control up to maximum choke position.
- Press the air purge repeatedly for a minimum of 10 times and fuel will fill the bulb. The bulb need not be completely filled.
- Set cruise control lever to about 1/2 full throttle position.
5. Hold the body of the machine on the ground using your left hand (CAUTION: Not with your foot!). Grip the starter handle, slowly pull out the cord with your right hand until you feel some resistance (the starter pawls grip), then quickly and powerfully pull the cord 3 to 6 times. Never wrap the starter cord around your hand.

Repeat pulling the cord until the engine attempts to start. Place choke lever down to full open position. Pull starter rope sharply until engine starts. Allow engine to run at fast idle for 30 seconds.
CAUTION! Do not pull the starter cord all the way out and do not let go of the starter handle when the cord is fully extended. This can damage the machine.

- Remove the air filter cover and take out the filter. Wash it clean in soapy water.
- Refit the air filter and air filter cover. Do not forget to put the air sc in place. If the grill is missing, the air cleaner is not properly sealed, and can get into the cylinder.
- An air filter that has been in use for a long time cannot be cleaned completely. The filter must therefore be replaced with a new one at regular intervals. A damaged air filter must always be replaced.

Shoulder strap
If the shoulder strap is damaged, it may break while in use and the machine may fall causing personal injury. Follow the instructions below to replace a shoulder strap.
1 Remove the clamp from the strap. 2 Run the end of the strap through the hanger. 3 Refit the clamp to the strap.
SPARK PLUG
The spark plug condition is influenced by:
- Incorrect carburetor adjustment.
- An incorrect fuel mixture (too much or incorrect type of oil).
- A dirty air filter.
These factors cause deposits on the spark plug electrodes, which may result in operating problems and starting difficulties.
Clean the outside of the spark plug. Remove it and check the electrode.
Adjust the gap to 0.6-0.7 mm, or replace the spark plug. Check that the plug is fitted with a suppressor.
CAUTION! Always use the recommended spark plug type! Use of the wrong spark plug can damage the piston/cylinder.

Carburetor
Adjustment of the idle speed. Before any adjustments are made, make sure that the air filter is clean and the air filter cover is fitted.
The factory idle speed setting is: 2800 rpm
Use the idle adjustment screw if the idle speed has to be adjusted.

Idle adjustment screw
Muffler
The muffler is designed to reduce the noise level and to direct the exhaust gases away from the operator. The exhaust gases are hot and can contain sparks, which may cause fire if directed against dry and combustible material. The muffler on your machine is equipped with a spark arrestor screen. The spark arrestor screen on this unit is not serviceable. As your unit is used, carbon deposits build up on the muffler and spark arresting screen. For normal homeowner use, however, the muffler and spark arresting screen will not require any service. After 50 hours of use, we recommend that your muffler be serviced or replaced by your authorized service dealer.
CAUTION! Never use a machine with a defective muffler.
Check regularly that the muffler is complete and secured correctly.
Make sure that the spark arrester and the exhaust duct are screwed in correctly.

WARNING! The muffler gets very hot during use and remains so for some time after stopping. This also applies at idle speed. Contact can result in burns to the skin. Remember the risk of fire!
