11 Operating Manual
11.1 General
Please read the information contained herein so that you can become familiar with your device quickly and take advantage of the full scope of its functions.
Your device will serve you for many years if you handle it and care for it properly. We wish you a lot of pleasure in using it!
11.2 Information on this manual
These Operating Instructions are a component of the Selection WK 2200 (referred to hereafter as the device) and provide you with important information for the initial commissioning, safety, intended use and care of the device. The Operating Instructions must be available at all times at the device.
This Operating Manual must be read and applied by every person who is instructed to work with the device:
- Commissioning • Operation • Troubleshooting and/or • Cleaning
- Keep the Operating Manual in a safe place and pass it on to the subsequent owner along with the device.

12 Safety
This chapter provides you with important safety notices when handling the device. The device corresponds with the required safety regulations. Improper use can result in personal or property damages.
12.1 Intended use
This device is only intended for use in households in enclosed spaces for Boiling of drinking water. Do not use the device to boil coffee, tea, chemicals or alcohol. This device is intended for use in the household and for similar applications. The instructions for appliances include the substance of the following:
- staff kitchen areas in shops, offices and other working environments;
- farm houses;
- by clients in hotels, motels and other residential type environments;
• bed and breakfast type environments
Uses for a different purpose or for a purpose which exceeds this description are considered incompatible with the intended or designated use.

12.2 General Safety information

Please observe the following general safety notices with regard to the safe handling of the device.
▶ Read all instructions before using.
▶ DO NOT use this device for anything other than its intended use.
This appliance is for HOUSEHOLD USE ONLY.
▶ Examine the device for any visible external damages prior to using it. Never put a damaged device into operation.
▶ If the connection lead is damaged, you will need to have a new connection lead installed by an authorized electrician.
▶ Appliances can be used by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved.
The appliance is not to be used by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction
This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and if they understand the hazards involved.
▶ Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children unless they are older than 8 and supervised.
▶ Keep the appliance and its cord out of reach of children aged less than 8 years.

▶ Do not leave the device unsupervised when it is in operation.
The appliance is only to be used with the stand provided.
▶ Unplug the device when device is empty, before you fill water in, before moving of the device and before cleaning.
▶ Let the device cool down before cleaning it.
▶ Use only spare parts and accessory provided by the manufacturer in order to avoid the risk of fire, electric shock or injury.
▶ Do not heat without water, the device could be damaged.
▶ Should you accidentally have used the device with less or without water, unplug the device and allow it to cool down for minimum 15 minutes.
▶ Do not overturn the device. The lid is not fully sealed in order to release steam during boiling. The device can drop water when overturned.
For safety concern you cannot restart the device directly after operating. Let the device cool down, before restart it again.
▶ Hold the device at its handle.
▶ Do not heat up frozen water!
▶ Only customer service departments authorized by the manufacturer may carry out repairs on the device, as otherwise the guarantee entitlements will be null and void in the event of any subsequent damages. Improperly performed repairs can cause considerable dangers for the user.
▶ Defective components must always be replaced with original replacement parts. Only such parts will guarantee that the safety requirements are fulfilled.

12.3 Danger of burns
⚠️WARNUNG
Warning
The device and the heated water in the device can become very hot. Observe the following safety instructions and be careful not to burn or scald yourself or others:
▶ Hot steam is created during cooking. Do not touch the spout and do not open the lid of the device during and immediately after cooking
▶ Take care that you do not have contact with the escaping hot steam!
▶ Pour out hot water slowly and carefully. Risk of scalding.
▶ Do not move the device when it is switched on.
▶ Be cautious when moving the pot containing hot water to avoid being scalded.
▶ Always ensure the lid is firmly closed and do not open the lid while water is boiling, to avoid being scalded.
▶ Do not fill the device over the “max”-marking (1.7 l).
▶ If the kettle is overfilled, boiling water may be ejected.
▶ Incorrect use of appliance may cause serious burns, therefore, attention shall be taken.
▶ Do not touch the pot directly after using it. Residual heat can cause burns!
12.4 Dangers due to electrical power

Mortal danger due to electrical power!
Mortal danger exists when coming into contact with live wires or subassemblies! Observe the following safety notices to avoid dangers due to electrical power:

▶ Do not operate this device if it has a damaged cable or plug, if it is not working properly or if it has been damaged or dropped. If the power cable or plug are damaged, then they must be replaced by the manufacturer or its service agent in order to avoid a hazard.
▶ Do not open the housing on the device under any circumstances. There is a danger of an electrical shock if live connections are touched and the electrical or mechanical structure is altered. In addition, functional faults on the device can also occur.
▶ The appliance must not be immersed.
▶ Avoid that water splashes on the power cord.
13 Commissioning
This chapter provides you with important safety notices during the initial commissioning of the device. Observe the following notices to avoid dangers and damages:

13.2 Delivery scope and transport inspection
As a rule, the Selection WK 2200 is delivered with the following components:

▶ Examine the shipment for its completeness and for any visible damages.
▶ Immediately notify the carrier, the insurance and the supplier about any incomplete shipment or damages as a result of inadequate packaging or due to transportation.
13.3 Unpacking
Remove the device out of the carton and remove the packaging material.
13.4 Disposal of the packaging

The packaging protects the device against damages during transit. The packaging materials are selected in accordance with environmentally compatible and recycling-related points of view and can therefore be recycled.
Returning the packaging back to the material loop saves raw materials and reduces the quantities of accumulated waste. Take any packaging materials that are no longer required to “Green Dot” recycling collection points for disposal.
13.5 Setup location requirements:
In order to ensure the safe and trouble-free operation of the device, the setup location must fulfil the following prerequisites:
- Place the device on a firm and even work surface.
- Do not use the device outdoors.
- The device is not intended to be installed in a wall or a built-in cupboard.
- Do not operate the product near hot gas or hot stove.
- Choose the setup location in such a way that children cannot reach the device.
- The device shall not be placed in a cabinet when in use.
- Do not set up the device in a hot, wet or extremely damp environment or near flammable material.
- Do not place the appliance near any inflammable materials, explosive and/or self-igniting gases.
13.6 Electrical connection
In order to ensure the safe and trouble-free operation of the device, the following instructions must be observed for the electrical connection:
- Before connecting the device, compare the connection data (voltage and frequency) on the rating plate with those of your electrical network. This data must agree in order that no damages occur in the device. If in doubt, ask your qualified electrician.
- The electrical outlet must be protected by a 16A safety cut-out switch.
- The connection between the device and the electrical network may employ a 3 meter long (max.) extension cable with a cross-section of 1.5 mm ^2 . The use of multiple plugs or gangs is prohibited because of the danger of fire that is involved with this.
- Make sure that the power cable is undamaged and has not been installed under the ice maker or over hot or sharp surfaces.
- The electrical safety of the device is only guaranteed if the device is connected to a properly installed protective conductor system. Operations using an electrical outlet without a protective conductor are prohibited. If in doubt, have the house installation checked over by a qualified electrician. The manufacturer cannot be made responsible for damages that are caused by a missing or damaged protective conductor.

14.3 Rating plate
The rating plate with the connection and performance data can be found beneath the device.
15 Operation and Handling
This chapter provides you with important notices with regard to operating the device. Observe the following notices to avoid dangers and damages.

▶ Do not leave the appliance unsupervised during operation.
15.1 Before first use
Fill the device with water up to the maximum water level. Boil the water and let the device cool down. Discard the water. Repeat this 2x.

Please note
▶ Do not fill the pot over maximum level as water may spout out of device when boiling. Make sure the lid is firmly closed before you place it on the base again.
▶ Do not fill the device below the minimum mark, otherwise the device will run dry and the overheating protection will switch on.
▶ To select between °C and °F, press and hold the button for a moment.
▶ If you lift the jug during the cooking process, the cooking process or the keep-warm process stops.
15.2 Quickstart 100 °C
To boil water directly at 100^ C, fill the jug with water and press the button. The boiling process starts immediately. You can stop the boiling process at any time by pressing the button.
15.3 Use
Lift the pot from the base and open the lid. Fill water into the pot.
Then place the device back on the base and insert the power plug into a suitable socket.
The display lights up. After 3 minutes without action, the unit automatically switches to standby mode.
Press any button to reactivate the display.
Set the desired temperature with the + - buttons.
To start the cooking process, press the button. The - symbol lights up.

Please note
▶ Temperature settings
40-60 °C water temperature for preparing baby food
70-80 °C water temperature for delicate teas (green/white tea)
90-95 °C water temperature for instant coffee or instant soup
100 °C water temperatur for black tea/herbal tea
▶ Stick to the recommended temperature on the tea package..
During the cooking process, you will see the current temperature of the water on the display. If you press the + or button during the boiling process, you will see the set temperature.
When the water has reached the desired temperature, three beeps sound and the symbol goes out. The display shows the set temperature.
You can stop the cooking process at any time by pressing the ⏻ button.
Remove the jug from the base. Pour out the boiling water through the spout into any vessel.
Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet when the unit is not in use.

Please note
▶ If you set a lower temperature than the current one, the appliance beeps three to indicate that the current temperature is higher than the set one.
⚠️WARNUNG
Warning: Risk of scalding
▶ Use caution when pouring the hot water and do not open the lid when transferring.
15.4 Keep warm function
Press the keep warm button directly after setting the desired temperature. When the water has reached the desired temperature, three beeps will sound and the device starts the keep warm function. The symbol lights up continuously. Press the button or to end the keep warm function.
HINWEIS
Please note
▶ When you do not cancel the keep warm function, the device will turn off automatically after 2 hours.
▶ You cannot activate the keep-warm function at a temperature setting of 95 °C and 100 °C .
16 Cleaning and Maintenance
This chapter provides you with important notices with regard to cleaning and maintaining the device. Please observe the notices to prevent damages due to cleaning the device incorrectly and to ensure trouble-free operation.
16.1 Safety information

Please observe the following safety notices, before you commence with cleaning the device:
The Selection WK 2200 must be cleaned at regular intervals and limescale should be removed.
▶ Switch off the Selection WK 2200 prior to cleaning it and unplug the plug from the wall power outlet.
▶ Do not use any aggressive or abrasive cleaning agents or solvents.
▶ Do not scrape off stubborn dirt with hard items.
▶ Do not immerse pot, base or power cord in water.
16.2 Cleaning
◆ Pot and base
- Rinse the pot with a damp cloth.
16.3 Descaling
- Depending on the hardness of water you should descale the device once every two weeks.
- Fill the pot with water and a commercial descaler. Perform a boiling process as described in Chapter 15.1. After the descaling process, rinse the jug with fresh water and perform a boiling process with fresh water.

Please note
▶ Regularly decalcifying your Selection WK 2200 will reduce the electricity used and prolong the life of the device.
17 Troubleshooting
This chapter provides you with important notices with regard to operating the device. Observe the following notices to avoid dangers and damages:

▶ Only qualified electricians, who have been trained by the manufacturer, may carry out any repairs on electrical equipment.
▶ Improperly performed repairs can cause considerable dangers for the user and damages to the device.

| The device does not switch off. | The lid is not closed properly. | Close the lid properly. |

After that, water can be filled again and the device can be used. |
18 Disposal of the Old Device
Old electric and electronic devices frequently still contain valuable materials. However, they also contain damaging substances, which were necessary for their functionality and safety. If these were put in the non-recyclable waste or were handled incorrectly, they could be detrimental to human health and the
environment. Therefore, do not put your old device into the non-recyclable waste under any circumstances.

▶ Utilise the collection point, established in your town, to return and recycle old electric and electronic devices. If necessary, contact your town hall, local refuse collection service or your dealer for information.
▶ Ensure that your old device is stored safely away from children until it is taken away.
19 Guarantee
We provide a 24-month guarantee for defects caused by production or material faults, beginning on the date of purchase. Our guarantee is valid for Germany, Austria and the Netherlands. For all other countries, please contact us.
Your legal guarantee claims as per Art. 437 ff. German Civil Code (BGB) will remain unaffected by this. You may exercise your statutory guarantee rights free of charge. The guarantee does not cover damage caused by improper handling or use of the product or defects which have only a minor impact on the product's functionality or value. In addition to this, the guarantee also excludes parts which are subject to wear and tear; transport damages insofar as we are not responsible for them and damages caused by repairs which were not carried out by us.
This product has been constructed for non-commercial use (domestic use) and its performance is designed to meet the corresponding needs. The guarantee only covers
commercial use insofar as it is comparable to domestic use. The product is not intended for any other type of commercial use.
In the case of legitimate complaints we may either repair the defective product or replace it with a defect-free product at our discretion. Obvious defects must be notified to us within 14 days of the product's delivery. Any further claims are excluded.
When making a guarantee claim please contact us before you return the product (always with the purchase receipt!). Our contact details ("Guarantor") are provided at the beginning of this instruction manual.
