11.1 General
Please read the information contained herein so that you can become familiar with your device quickly and take advantage of the full scope of its functions.
Your device will serve you for many years if you handle it and care for it properly. We wish you a lot of pleasure in using it!
11.2 Information on this manual
These Operating Instructions are a component of the Coffee Classic Kettle (referred to hereafter as the device) and provide you with important information for the initial commissioning, safety, intended use and care of the device. The Operating Instructions must be available at all times at the device.
This Operating Manual must be read and applied by every person who is instructed to work with the device:
- Commissioning · Operation · Troubleshooting and/or · Cleaning
- Keep the Operating Manual in a safe place and pass it on to the subsequent owner along with the device.

12 Safety
This chapter provides you with important safety notices when handling the device. The device corresponds with the required safety regulations. Improper use can result in personal or property damages.
12.1 Intended use
This device is only intended for use in households in enclosed spaces for
- Boiling of drinking water.
Do not use the device to boil coffee, tea, chemicals or alcohol. This device is intended for use in the household and for similar applications such as:
- in kitchens for employees in shops, offices, and other commercial areas; • in B&Bs,
- in agricultural estates;
- by customers in hotels, motels and other residential establishments.
Uses for a different purpose or for a purpose which exceeds this description are considered incompatible with the intended or designated use.

12.2 General Safety information

Please observe the following general safety notices with regard to the safe handling of the device.
Read all instructions before using.
DO NOT use this device for anything other than its intended use.
This appliance is for HOUSEHOLD USE ONLY.
Examine the device for any visible external damages prior to using it. Never put a damaged device into operation.
If the connection lead is damaged, you will need to have a new connection lead installed by an authorized electrician.
- Persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and/or knowledge are not allowed to use the device unless they are supervised by a person responsible for their safety or have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved.
Children shall not use this device. Keep the device and its cord out of reach of children
Children shall not play with the appliance.
- Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children.
- Do not leave the device unsupervised when it is in operation.
The device should be used with provided bower base. The power base cannot be used for other purposes.
Unplug the device when device is empty, before you fill water in, before moving of the device and before cleaning.
Let the device cool down before cleaning it.
- Use only spare parts and accessory provided by the manufacturer in order to avoid the risk of fire, electric shock or injury.

Do not heat without water, the device could be damaged.
Should you accidentally have used the device with less or without water, unplug the device and allow it to cool down for minimum 15 minutes.
Do not overturn the device. The lid is not fully sealed in order to release steam during boiling. The device can drop water when overturned.
For safety concern you cannot restart the device directly after operating. Let the device cool down, before restart it again.
Hold the device at its handle.
Do not heat up frozen water!
- Only customer service departments authorized by the manufacturer may carry out repairs on the device, as otherwise the guarantee entitlements will be null and void in the event of any subsequent damages. Improperly performed repairs can cause considerable dangers for the user.
Defective components must always be replaced with original replacement parts. Only such parts will guarantee that the safety requirements are fulfilled.

12.3 Danger of burns

The device and the heated water in the device can become very hot.
Observe the following safety instructions and be careful not to burn or scald yourself or others:
Hot steam is created during cooking. Do not touch the spout and do not open the lid of the device during and immediately after cooking

Take care that you do not have contact with the escaping hot steam!
Pour out hot water slowly and carefully. Risk of scalding.
Do not move the device when it is switched on.
- Be cautious when moving the pot containing hot water to avoid being scalded.
Always ensure the lid is firmly closed and do not open the lid while water is boiling, to avoid being scalded.
Do not fill the device over the "max"-marking (0.6 l).
Do not overfill the device, hot water can spurt out.
Incorrect use of appliance may cause serious burns, therefore, attention shall be taken.
Do not touch the pot directly after using it. Residual heat can cause burns!
12.4 Dangers due to electrical power

Mortal danger due to electrical power!
Mortal danger exists when coming into contact with live wires or subassemblies!
Observe the following safety notices to avoid dangers due to electrical power:
- Do not operate this device if it has a damaged cable or plug, if it is not working properly or if it has been damaged or dropped. If the power cable or plug are damaged, then they must be replaced by the manufacturer or its service agent in order to avoid a hazard.
- Do not open the housing on the device under any circumstances. There is a danger of an electrical shock if live connections are touched and the electrical or mechanical structure is altered. In addition, functional faults on the device can also occur.

13 Commissioning
This chapter provides you with important safety notices during the initial commissioning of the device. Observe the following notices to avoid dangers and damages:

13.2 Delivery scope and transport inspection
As a rule, the Coffee Classic Kettle is delivered with the following components:

- Immediately notify the carrier, the insurance and the supplier about any incomplete shipment or damages as a result of inadequate packaging or due to transportation.
13.3 Unpacking
Remove the device out of the carton and remove the packaging material.
13.4 Disposal of the packaging

The packaging protects the device against damages during transit. The packaging materials are selected in accordance with environmentally compatible and recycling-related points of view and can therefore be recycled.
Returning the packaging back to the material loop saves raw materials and reduces the quantities of accumulated waste. Take any packaging materials that are no longer required to "Green Dot" recycling collection points for disposal.
13.5 Setup location requirements:
In order to ensure the safe and trouble-free operation of the device, the setup location must fulfil the following prerequisites:
- Place the device on a firm and even work surface.
- Do not use the device outdoors.

Do not operate the product near hot gas or hot stove.
- Choose the setup location in such a way that children cannot reach the device.
- The device is not intended to be installed in a wall or a built-in cupboard.
- Do not set up the device in a hot, wet or extremely damp environment or near flammable material.
- Do not place the appliance near any inflammable materials, explosive and/or self-igniting gases.
13.6 Electrical connection
In order to ensure the safe and trouble-free operation of the device, the following instructions must be observed for the electrical connection:
- Before connecting the device, compare the connection data (voltage and frequency) on the rating plate with those of your electrical network. This data must agree in order that no damages occur in the device. If in doubt, ask your qualified electrician.
- The electrical outlet must be protected by a 16A safety cut-out switch.
- The connection between the device and the electrical network may employ a 3 meter long (max.) extension cable with a cross-section of 1.5mm^2 . The use of multiple plugs or gangs is prohibited because of the danger of fire that is involved with this.
- Make sure that the power cable is undamaged and has not been installed under the ice maker or over hot or sharp surfaces.
- The electrical safety of the device is only guaranteed if the device is connected to a properly installed protective conductor system. Operations using an electrical outlet without a protective conductor are prohibited. If in doubt, have the house installation checked over by a qualified electrician.
The manufacturer cannot be made responsible for damages that are caused by a missing or damaged protective conductor.

15 Operation and Handling
This chapter provides you with important notices with regard to operating the device. Observe the following notices to avoid dangers and damages.

Do not leave the appliance unsupervised during operation.
15.1 Before first use
Fill the device with water up to the maximum water level. Boil the water and let the device cool down. Discard the water. Repeat this.
15.2 Use
Remove the pot from the base and open the lid. Fill water into the pot.

Please note
Do not fill the pot over maximum level as water may spout out of device when boiling. Make sure the lid is firmly closed before you place it on the base again.
Place the device on the base and connect to suitable power supply.
Press on/off-lever. The operation indicator will light up to show that the device is heating up. The operation indicator will switch off when boiling has finished. The device switches off automatically.
During the boiling process you can stop heating at every time by pressing on/off-lever or lifting the pot.
Lift the pot from the base. Pour the boiling water through the spout.

Use caution when pouring the hot water and do not open the lid.
Unplug the device when not in use. Clean and dry it and put it back on the base.
15.3 Cleaning and Maintenance
This chapter provides you with important notices with regard to cleaning and maintaining the device. Please observe the notices to prevent damages due to cleaning the device incorrectly and to ensure trouble-free operation.
15.4 Safety information

Please observe the following safety notices, before you commence with cleaning the device:
The Coffee Classic Kettle must be cleaned at regular intervals and limescale should be removed.
- Switch off the Coffee Classic Kettle prior to cleaning it and unplug the plug from the wall power outlet.
Do not use any aggressive or abrasive cleaning agents or solvents.
Do not scrape off stubborn dirt with hard items.
Do not immerse pot, base or power cord in water.
15.5 Cleaning
Pot
- Rinse the pot with a damp cloth.
15.6 Descaling
- Depending on the hardness of water you should descale the device once every two weeks.
- Fill the pot with water and a commercial descaler or give a sip of vinegar into the water. Heat the mixture but do not boil it to prevent overcooking. Rinse the pot with fresh water after descaling.

Regularly decalcifying your Coffee Classic Kettle will reduce the electricity used and prolong the life of the device.
16 Troubleshooting
This chapter provides you with important notices with regard to operating the device. Observe the following notices to avoid dangers and damages:

17 Disposal of the Old Device
Old electric and electronic devices frequently still contain valuable materials. However, they also contain damaging substances, which were necessary for their functionality and safety. If these were put in the non-recyclable waste or were handled incorrectly, they could be detrimental to human health and the environment. Therefore, do not put your old device into the non-recyclable waste under any circumstances.

Ensure that your old device is stored safely away from children until it is taken away.
18 Guarantee
We provide a 24-month guarantee for defects caused by production or material faults, beginning on the date of purchase. Our guarantee is valid for Germany, Austria and the Netherlands. For all other countries, please contact us. Your legal guarantee claims as per Art. 437 ff. German Civil Code (BGB) will remain unaffected by this. You may exercise your statutory guarantee rights free of charge. The guarantee does not cover damage caused by improper handling or use of the product or defects which have only a minor impact on the product's functionality or value. In addition to this, the guarantee also excludes parts which are subject to wear and tear; transport damages insofar as we are not responsible for them and damages caused by repairs which were not carried out by us. This product has been constructed for non-commercial use (domestic use) and its performance is designed to meet the corresponding needs. The guarantee only covers commercial use insofar as it is comparable to domestic use. The product is not intended for any other type of commercial use.
In the case of legitimate complaints we may either repair the defective product or replace it with a defect-free product at our discretion. Obvious defects must be notified to us within 14 days of the product's delivery. Any further claims are excluded.
When making a guarantee claim please contact us before you return the product (always with the purchase receipt!). Our contact details ("Guarantor") are provided at the beginning of this instruction manual.
