3.2. Preparation for operation
POSITIONING OF THE UNIT
The ambient temperature must not exceed 40^ C and ambient humidity should not exceed 85%. Place the unit in a way that ensures good air circulation. Maintain a minimum clearance of 10 cm from any wall of the unit. Keep the unit away from any hot surfaces. Always operate the unit on a level, stable, clean, fireproof and dry surface and out of the reach of children and persons of impaired mental, sensory and intellectual functions. Place the unit in such a way that the mains plug can be reached at any time. Ensure that the power supply to the unit corresponds to that specified on the identification plate!
Disassemble all components and wash them before first use.
The hotplate is coated with maintenance grease. Before first use, wash the hotplate with water and dishwashing liquid, dry with a paper towel, and then coat with vegetable oil.
3.3. Working with the unit
- Set the thermostat to "0" and then insert the plug into the electrical outlet. The green power light will illuminate.
- Turn the thermostat knob to select the preferred temperature and the heat light will illuminate.
When the desired temperature is reached, the heating light will turn off. - The thermostat will keep the temperature constant. The left thermostat operates the left grill plate and the right thermostat operates the right grill plate (applies to model RCEG-73R; RCEG-60R). Caution: The heating elements may cause a small amount of smoke to appear during initial operation.
- Caution: When heated, the grill plate may turn (including unevenly) black. This is a normal occurrence as cast iron plates are subject to oxidation.
- Set out the prepared food using plastic or wooden cutlery.
- Check the level of oil flowing; if it overflows, empty the collection container (4).
- When finished working, set the thermostat to "0" and disconnect the unit from power.
- The RESET button is located on the rear side of the unit (D), the models (RCEG-73R; RCEG-60R) have two separate buttons, on the left and right side.
If the hotplate does not heat up, check the RESET button (unscrew the plastic cover and press the protruding element).
3.4. Cleaning and maintenance
a) Pull out the mains plug before each cleaning and when the unit is not in use.
b) Use only non-corrosive cleaning agents for cleaning the surfaces.
c) Only mild detergents designed for cleaning food contact surfaces may be used to clean the unit.
d) Store the unit in a dry and cool place protected from moisture and direct sunlight.
e) Do not spray the unit with a stream of water or immerse it in water.
f) Perform regular inspections of the unit checking technical fitness and any damages.
g) Do not use sharp and/or metal objects (e.g. a wire brush or metal spatula) for cleaning, as these may damage the surface of the material from which the unit is made.
h) After each cleaning, all the parts should be dried well before the unit is used again.
i) Clean the ventilation openings with a brush and compressed air.
Plate Maintenance:
Preserve the plate with unsalted cooking oil by applying it with a kitchen towel or cloth. Let the plate stand for one hour and then wipe it dry of oil residue with a cloth.
A grill plate prepared this way can be used again for grilling.
Cleaning:
The grill should be thoroughly cleaned after each use:
For one-time and short-term use, simply wipe the grill with a paper towel.
After prolonged use, a special grill scraper ( and/or: sponge, brush) can be used to collect food residue and remove it towards the drain hole.
After removing the residue, you can dry the surface of the grill plate with a clean towel and seal the surface as described above.
NOTE: Be sure to hold the scraper at an angle to the surface of the grill plate. Scraping too deeply can lead to scratches on the surface of the grill plate, which will increase food adhesion.
If the surface is very dirty, wash the surface with water and dishwashing liquid.
NOTE: note that soap scum removes the natural grease coating and the grill surface should be coated with oil after such washing.
After each use of the grill, pull out the collection container and clean it.
The container should be washed in soap suds.
NOTE: if the collection container is not cleaned, the remaining food residue and grease will collect and may ignite when the grill is reheated.
CAUTION: Do not pour water over the hot grill plate. Doing so can warp the hotplate and cause cracks to form on the surface, which is permanent damage.
