■ Saw splintered wood with care. There is risk of injury by wood pieces carried away.
■ Avoid saw backstroke by a correct guiding of the saw.

[Non-Text]

Note: Safety instructions - saw backstroke

  • 8 Use the claw stopper (31) for fixing the chain saw on the wood. Use the claw stopper when sawing as lever.
    ■ Do not use the chain saw for lifting or moving wood.
  • Let the chain saw work by producing a light leverage pressure over the claw stopper. When sawing do not press with strength.
  • When sawing thicker perches or trunks set back the claw stopper (31) on a deeper point. For setting back release the claw stopper from the wood and place it again in a deeper position. Do not remove the saw here out of the cut.
  • Be careful at the end of a sawing cut. As far as the saw leaves the wood the force of weight changes. There is risk of accident for legs and feet.
    ■ Remove the chain saw only with running saw chain out of the cut.
    ■ If the saw chain gets jammed in the wood, stop it immediately. Use a wedge to free the guide bar.

ATIKA BKS 45-2 - Safety instructions - while sawing - 1

Safety instructions - saw backstroke

■ What is saw backstroke? Saw backstroke is the sudden strike upwards or backwards of the running chain saw in direction of the operator.

ATIKA BKS 45-2 - Safety instructions - saw backstroke - 1

This happens when

- 6 the guide bar tip gets in contact with the sawing

material (unintended) or other hard objects.

— the saw chain is jammed at the guide bar tip.

The chain saw reacts uncontrolled and causes frequently heavy injuries with the operator.

ATIKA BKS 45-2 - This happens when - 1

Carry out lateral cuts, diagonal cuts and longitudinal cuts increased attention because here the claw stopper (36) is put on.

How to avoid saw backstroke?

  • 4 Always hold the chain saw firmly with both hands.
  • 5 For better control saw with the lower edge of the guide bar. Hold the chain saw as close as possible to the horizontal position when contacting wood.
    ■ 6 Never saw with the guide bar tip.
  • 7 Sawing with the upper guide bar edge may cause a saw backstroke if the saw gets jammed or hits a hard object in the wood.
    ■ Start cutting only with running saw chain.
    ■ Only work with sharp and correctly sharpened saw chain.
    ■ Only work with correctly clamped saw chain.
  • 8 Use claw stopper (31) as lever.
    ■ Never work above height of shoulders.
    ■ Never cut through several perches at the same time. When releasing make sure that no other perch is touched.
    ■ 9 If possible use a sawhorse when cutting to length.
    ■ Stab cuts shall only be carried out by instructed personal.

- Check that there is no leakage on the tank cap and fuel lines. If there are leaks this product may not be started.
■ Never use a saw with damaged ignition cable and spark plug connector. Risk of sparking.
■ Only transport and store fuels in containers approved and identified for this.
- Keep children away from fuels.
- Do not handle and store fuels close to combustible and highly inflammable materials as well as sparks and open flames.
- Go away at least three meters from the fuelling place to start the chain saw.

Vibrations

Hand arm vibration

Front handle: a_hv = 5,65 m/s^2

Rear handle: a_hv = 6,027 m/s^2

Measuring uncertainty K = 1,5 m/s²

The indicated vibration emission level has been measured according to a standardised test method and can be used to compare machines.

It can also be used for an initial estimate of the vibration exposure.

The actual vibration emission level during the use of the machine may differ from that indicated in the operating instructions or indicated by the manufacturer.

This may be caused by the following factors to be minded before and during the use:

– Proper use of the machine
– Correct cutting or machining of material
– Proper condition of the machine for use
– Use of the correct and sharp cutting tool
- Handles and optional anti-vibration handles properly mounted on the machine body

When you feel uncomfortable or notice discoloration of skin on your hands during the use of the machine, stop working immediately. Observe sufficient break times to rest. Failure to have sufficient break times may result in a hand-arm vibration syndrome.

The extent of exposure depending on the type of work or machine use should be estimated and appropriate breaks taken. In this way, the extent of exposure can be considerably reduced over the entire work time. Minimise the risk caused by vibrations. Maintain this machine according to the instructions in the manual. If you intend to use this machine frequently, contact your local authorised dealer and purchase anti-vibration accessories if required. Avoid the use of this machine at temperatures under 10^ C. Create a work schedule in order to minimise vibration exposure.

Work instructions - saw techniques

Additional advices for sawing trunks

■ 9 Never put the trunk for sawing on the ground. Support the trunk in such manner that the cut does not close and the saw chain jams. Use a safe base (e.g. sawhorse). Avoid contact to ground with the guide bar tip or saw chain.
■ Adapt shorter trunks before sawing and clamp them firmly.
■ Avoid cutting of thin bosk and lumber. The chain saw is not suitable for those works.
- Carry out longitudinal cuts with special care as the claw stopper is not used. Avoid saw backstroke by guiding the saw with a small angle.
■ When working at a slope take always the position above or on the side of the trunk or the lying sawing material respectively. Pay attention to rolling trunks.

Notes on how to saw wood under tension

If perches, trees or wood under tension become free of tension by sawing extreme caution is demanded. The sawing material

can react completely uncontrolled and result in heavy injuries or death.

⚠️ Such work may only be carried out by instructed specialists.

11 / 12 / 13 / 14

⚠ For all works set always first of all on the pressure side ① the releasing cut and then the dividing cut ② - otherwise the chain saw can jam or strike back.

- 11 Upper side of wood under tensile stress

1 Place one cut (one third of the diameter of the trunk) from the bottom up.
② Then place a second cut on the same point from top which cuts through the trunk.
12 Underside of wood under tensile stress
1 Place one cut (one third of the diameter of the trunk) from top to bottom.
② Then place a second cut on the same point from bottom which cuts through the trunk.
13 Strong trunks and strong tension
1 Place one cut (one third of the diameter of the trunk) from bottom up.
② Then place a second cut with distance to the first cut from top which cuts through the trunk.

Advices on how to cut off branches

14 Step cut

① Make the first cut from the bottom up (one third of the branch diameter).
② Then, make the second cut from top to bottom opposite to the first cut. This cuts the branch through.
③ To remove the remaining piece from the trunk cut it through from top to bottom close to the trunk.

Advices for cutting down trees

⚠️ Such work may only be carried out by instructed specialists.

■ Pay attention to the length of the guide bar. Only those trees are allowed to be cut which have a trunk diameter which is smaller than the length of the guide bar.
■ 15 Safeguard the dangerous zone (D) before cutting. Make sure that there are no persons or animals in the fall area. Danger to life!
■ 16 The minimum distance to the next work place must be 2.5 tree lengths.
■ 17 Make sure that the working area around the trunk is free of risk to stumble and that you have an escape route (F) which is free of obstacles.
17 Before cutting the tree down decide on the felling direction (C). Before chopping the tree decide on the chopping direction. Consider in this case the balance point

of the treetop, neighbour trees, slope direction, state of health of the tree and the wind direction. On this side the kerf is cut in.

■ Remove interfering branches, scrub and obstacles from the working area at the trunk and make sure that you have a safe standing position.
■ Thoroughly clean the trunk foot – sand, stones and other foreign objects make the saw chain edgeless or may damage it.
- Consider the state of health of the tree – be careful with trunks with damages or deadwood (droughty, rotten or dead wood).

18 Tree felling technique:

⇒ Cut a kerf with the saw of approximately one third of the tree diameter into the trunk. First of all place the horizontal cut and then as secondly a cut from top in an angle of 45^ .
→ Shout the warning "Caution" or "Tree is falling" before starting the fell cut.
→ Now saw on the opposite side of the trunk a horizontal chopping cut. This cut should be placed a bit higher (appr. 4 cm) than the horizontal cut of the kerf.
⇒ By no means cut through the trunk. Appr. 1/10 of the trunk diameter must remain. If the tree starts falling ahead of time pull out the chain saw immediately out of the cut and step back or to the side.
→ Push a key into the horizontal chopping cut in order to make the tree falling.
⇒ Pay attention, when tree starts falling, to perches or twigs falling down.

Turn the chain stretching screw anti-clockwise when the saw chain is stretched too much.

Check that the chain links are positioned correctly in the guiding groove of the guide bar.

Re-tighten the locking nuts (14).

Check the saw chain tension:

→ before start of work
→ after the first steps
→ during sawing regularly all 10 minutes

Only with a correct clamped saw chain and a sufficient lubrication you can influence the durability.

i Please observe the following:

→ a new saw chain must be rest retched more frequently.
⇒ in case of heating of chain to operating temperature it expands and needs to be reclamped.

⚠️ After finishing the sawing works release tension of saw chain as in case of cooling too high tensions would emerge in the saw chain.

if chain flackers or comes out of the guide clamp it again immediately.

Preparing for commissioning

The chain saw is supplied without saw chain oil and fuel filling.

Fill the saw chain as described under "Chain lubrication" and "Fuelling".

ATIKA BKS 45-2 - Preparing for commissioning - 1

Chain lubrication

Never operate the chain saw without lubrication. Any use without chain saw oil may result in damage of the chain saw and guide bar.

The durability and cutting power of the chain depends on the optimal lubrication. During operation the saw chain is automatically wetted with oil.

Filling up saw chain oil

ATIKA BKS 45-2 - Filling up saw chain oil - 1

Stop the engine and wear protective gloves. Avoid eye and skin contact.

2 Put the chain saw on a suitable base and unscrew the oil tank lock (11).

Fill the oil tank with bio-degradable chain saw adhering oil (order no. 400144). For easier filling use a funnel.
⚠ When filling observe that no dirt reaches the oil tank. Screw on the oil tank lock again.

Never use recycled oil or used oil. The guarantee expires when using oil which is not allowed for chain saws.

Checking the chain lubrication

⚠️ Never operate the chain saw without functioning chain lubrication.

Check the function of the automatic chain lubrication by switching on the chain saw and holding it with the pike in direction of a carton or paper on the ground.

⚠ Do not get in contact with the ground with the chain. Keep a safe distance of 20 cm.

If an increasing oil track is caused when checking it the oil automatic works faultless. If there is no oil track despite full oil tank:

33 Clean the oil flow channel (19).

→ If this is not successful please contact the customer service.

27 Adjust the chain lubrication:

See also the instructions under "Maintenance / cleaning: Adjusting the chain lubrication".

This product is operated by a mixture from regular petrol (unleaded) and two-stroke engine oil.

Petrol: Octane number at least 91 ROZ unleaded

■ Do not fill in leaded petrol, diesel or other non-approved fuels.
■ Do not use petrol having a smaller octance number than 91 ROZ. This may lead to severe engine damages due to increased engine temperatures.
■ If you frequently operate the product at high speeds, you should use petrol with a higher octane number.

The use of unleaded petrol is recommended for environment protection reasons.

Two-stroke engine oil:

acc. to JASO FC or ISO EGD specifications

■ Do only use two-stroke engine oil for air-cooled engines.

Mixing

Ratio of mixture 40:1

Petrol Two-stroke engine oil
1 litre 0,025 litres
2 litres 0,050 litres
5 litres 0,125 litres
10 litres 0,250 litres

■ Measure the oil quantity accurately as a small deviation of it has a large effect on the ratio of mixture in particular for small fuel quantities.
■ Do not change the ratio of mixture. This will lead to more residues of combustion, a higher fuel consumption, a decrease of output or damages to the engine.

⚠️ Mix petrol and oil in the supplied fuel mixing can (36).

1 Fill first petrol up to the mark ↑ petrol Then, fill oil up to the mark ↓ oil. Shake the fuel mixture.

  • Fuels have only a limited shelf-life. Outdated fuels and fuel mixtures may result in starting problems. Therefore, mix only that quantity of fuel which you can use.
  • Only store fuels in containers approved and identified for this. Keep fuel containers in a dry and safe area.
  • Make sure that fuel containers are kept out of the reach for children.
Make sure to dispose of fuel remainders and liquids used for cleaning according to relevant regulations and in an environmentally compatible manner.

Fuelling the chain saw

ATIKA BKS 45-2 - Fuelling the chain saw - 1

  • Stop the engine and allow it to cool down.
  • Wear protective gloves.
  • Avoid eye and skin contact.
  • Strictly follow the instructions under "Safe handling with fuels".

  • Clean the area around the filler neck. Contamination in the tank may result in malfunction.

  • 26 Carefully open the tank cap (9) to allow possible overpressure to relax.
  • Shake the container once more before pouring the fuel into the tank.
  • Carefully fill the fuel mixture up to the lower edge of the filler neck. Avoid spilling of fuel or oil. Clean the chain saw immediately when you have spilled fuel or oil.

Make sure that no fuel can come into the soil.

  1. Carefully close the tank cap after fuelling and check that it does not get loose during operation.
  2. Check that there is no leakage on the tank cap and fuel lines. If there are leaks this product may not be started.
  3. Clean the tank cap and the area around it. ⚠️ Go away at least three metres from the fuelling place to start the chain saw.

Commissioning

You may not start to operate the machine until you have read these original instructions, observed all the instructions given and installed the machine as described!

■ Check for every use:

  • there is no damages at the machine.
  • loose fastenings

■ Make sure that the ON/OFF switch, the throttle lock-out switch, the throttle trigger and the chain brake properly work.

Observe the safety instruction in any case.

ATIKA BKS 45-2 - Commissioning - 1

Chain brake

The chain brake is a protective mechanism that is triggered when the chain saw strikes backwards or automatically by the front hand guard (3). The saw chain stops immediately (< 0,1 sec.).

Checking of chain brake

Check the chain brake's proper function before each work start.

  • Start the engine, see "Starting the chain saw".
  • Hold the chain saw with both hands and allow the engine to run.
→ 19 Use the back of your hand to press against the front hand guard ○.
The chain saw must stop immediately.

It is not allowed to use this chain saw without properly working chain brake. Please contact the manufacturer or the customer service point

Before starting the chain saw

19 Apply the chain brake. Push the front hand guard forward. Have a safe standing position.
3 Place the chain saw on the ground in front of you, with the guide bar and chain showing to the left. ⚠️ Chain and guide bar must stand free.

Put the right foot tip in the rear handle (29) and hold the front handle (4) with your left hand.

Starting with cold engine

2 Press "I" of the ON/OFF switch (8).

Pull the choke lever (7) fully out.

The extent of choke lever pulling depends on the outdoor temperature. Colder outdoor temperature: Pull the choke lever fully out. Warmer outdoor temperature: Pull the choke lever halfway out.

3 Grasp the cranking handle and slowly pull the cranking rope until a resistance is felt. Then, pull quickly and firmly. While doing so, press the front handle (4) down.

Do not fully pull out the cranking rope and slowly guide the cranking handle back to make sure that the cranking rope is correctly wound up.

i Repeat this operation until the chain saw starts for the first time. Press in the choke lever and repeat the pulling until the chain saw starts. The engine will idle.

20 Release the chain brake. Push the front hand guard towards the front handle (3) 📋. The chain saw is ready for operation.

Only operate the throttle trigger (6) with the chain brake released. A blocked saw chain may result in damages to the chain drive.

To saw simultaneously operate the throttle lock-out switch (5) and the throttle trigger (6).

If you release the throttle trigger, the saw chain will stop and the engine will idle. If the saw chain runs in spite of non-pressed throttle trigger, you have to adjust the idle speed. (➤ “Maintenance”)

Stopping the engine

2 Release the throttle trigger (6) Press "O" of the ON/OFF switch (8).

Starting with warm engine

Start the chain saw as described under “Starting with cold engine”, but leave the choke lever in its operating position.

ATIKA BKS 45-2 - Starting with warm engine - 1

Before each maintenance and cleaning work

  • Stop the engine.
  • wait for stop of chain saw
  • Remove the spark plug connector.

ATIKA BKS 45-2 - Starting with warm engine - 2

- Wear protective gloves in order to avoid injury to the hands.

ATIKA BKS 45-2 - Starting with warm engine - 3

- Do not carry out maintenance work close to open flames. Risk of fire.

Maintenance and repair work other than those described in this chapter is only allowed to be carried out by service staff.

Use only original parts. Other parts can result in unexpected damages and injuries.

For maintaining and cleaning, removed security devices must unconditionally be mounted properly and proved again.

Maintenance

To guarantee a long and reliable usage of the chain saws carry out the following maintenance works regularly. ➕ Maintenance and cleaning schedule.

Check the chain saw for obvious defects such as:

  • loose or damaged saw chain
  • loose fastenings
    — wear, especially chain, guide bar and chain wheel
  • worn or damaged components
    — leaks from the fuel/oil tank cap or fuel lines
  • correctly assembled and faultless covers and protective devices.

Necessary repair works or maintenance works have to be carried out before the usage of the chain saw.

Adjusting the chain lubrication

ATIKA BKS 45-2 - Adjusting the chain lubrication - 1

Stop the engine!

The chain lubrication is factory-set. Depending on the type of wood and working techniques the amount of oil may vary and has to be corrected.

27

Adjust the chain lubrication using the adjusting screw (12) which is located below the product.

ATIKA BKS 45-2 - Stop the engine! - 1

ATIKA BKS 45-2 - Stop the engine! - 2

Anticlockwise turning small amount of oil (MIN)

Clockwise turning → large amount of oil (MAX)

The chain lubrication is correctly adjusted when the saw chain throws off small amounts of oil during operation.

Saw chain and guide bar

Saw chain and guide bar are exposed to a great extent of wearing. Replace the chain saw and the guide bar without any delay if their proper function is no longer ensured. ➞ "Installing the guide bar and the chain saw".

Sharpening of saw chain

ATIKA BKS 45-2 - Sharpening of saw chain - 1

You can only work safely and well with a sharp and clean saw chain. Damaged or incorrectly sharpened saw chains increase the risk of kickbacks.

The saw chain has to be sharpened if

→ only wood dust is thrown out instead of shavings
you have to press the chain saw through the wood during cutting

Inexperienced users: Have the saw chain sharpened by a specialist/service workshop.

If you sharpen the saw chain by yourself, note the values below and use a round file. (Additional accessories are available from specialist shops.)

Saw chain type Oregon 21LPX072X
Round file 3/16" (∅ 4,8 mm)
Depth gauge distance T .025"(0,65 mm)
Schärfwinkel α25°
Breast angle β60°
Planing tooth length a min. 3 mm

19 Firmly clamp the chain saw's guide bar in a vice and block the saw chain. Apply the chain brake
20 To advance the saw chain release the chain brake.
29 Use a round file to file all sharpening angles ( =25^ ).

Do only apply 2-3 strokes with the file.

The sharpening angles must be identical. Unequal sharpening angles result in an erratic chain run or chain breaking.

30 While sharpening keep the file at an angle of 10^ to the guide bar.
31 Using the round file and the correct sharpening angle the correct breast angle will result.
32 The planing tooth lengths (a) must be equal. Unequal lengths may lead to erratic chain run or chain breaking.
32 Once all sharpening angles are filed your saw chain is sharp, but it will possibly not cut. There must be always a depth gauge distance (T = distance between depth gauge and cutting edge).

i Use a flat file to file the depth gauge distance.

⚠ Be sure to chamfer the leading edge of your depth limiter with a file. The original shape of the cutting link must be preserved.

① Only remove a little amount of material when sharpening.

You can also sharpen your saw chain yourself by using our electric sharpener KSG 220 A (article-no.: 302360).

Cleaning of guide bar

33 / 34

  • Check and clean the oil outlets (A) of the guide bar and the guiding groove (B) on a regular basis.
    ■ Remove any burr using a flat file.
  • Turn round the guide bar after each chain exchange / sharpening to avoid single-side wearing.

i Immediately replace a damaged guide bar.

Chain wheel

The demand of the chain wheel is particularly great. Check regularly the teeth of the chain wheel for wear or damages.

38 Clean the chain wheel (18) and the guide bar fixing device using a brush.

A worn or damaged chain wheel reduces the durability of the saw chain and should therefore immediately be exchanged by the customer service.

Cleaning the air filter

Clean the air filter from dust and dirt on a regular basis to prevent

  • starting problems,
  • loss of output,
  • too high fuel consumption.

Clean the air filter every 8 operating hours, or more frequently in dusty environments.

35

  1. Open the air filter cover (21).
  2. Remove the air filter (22).
  3. Cover the intake opening with a clean cloth to prevent dirt from coming into the carburettor.
  4. Pull apart the both parts of the air filter.
  5. Wash the air filter in a luke warm soapy solution.

Do not puff/blow out dirt particles, otherwise there is a risk of eye injury.

  1. Allow the air filter to dry well and reinsert it.

① Damaged air filters must be replaced without delay.

Checking / Replacing the fuel filter

28

The chain saw is equipped with a fuel filter. Check it regularly and clean or replace it if required.

For this open the tank cap (9) and pull out the fuel filter (10).

If the filter is only slightly contaminated, carefully pull it from the oil line and clean it using petroleum ether.

① If it shows a great extent of contamination, replace the fuel filter.

Checking / Replacing the spark plug

ATIKA BKS 45-2 - Checking / Replacing the spark plug - 1

  • Do not touch the spark plug or the spark plug connector while the engine is running. High voltage!
  • Risk of burning on the hot engine.
  • Wear protective gloves.

Check the spark plug and the spark gap on a regular basis.

For this proceed as follows:

35 Open the air filter cover (21).
36 Pull the spark plug connector (23) from the spark plug (24). Remove the spark plug using the supplied wrench (35).
37 The spark gap must be 0.6 to 0.7 mm. Clean the spark plug when it is contaminated. Install the spark plug in reverse order.

Do not overtighten the spark plug.

Replace the spark plug:

  • every 100 hours or once in a year (whichever case comes first)
  • when the insulating body is damaged,
  • when the electrodes show excessive erosion,
  • when the electrodes show excessive dirt or oil.

Use the following spark plug type:

L8RTF/NHSP LD, BPMR7A/NGK, BM6ATorch, L7T/NHSP LD

Comparable with reference types:

BOSCH WSR6F, OREGON OPR15Y

Checking the ignition spark

  1. Remove the spark plug (24).
  2. Firmly connect the spark plug connector (23).
  3. Use an insulated pair of tongs to press the spark plug against the engine body (away from the spark plug hole).
  4. Put the toggle switch to its top position.
  5. Pull the cranking rope.

If there is no spark visible between the electrodes, the spark plug may be defective.

Chain catcher

1

The chain catcher (30) prevents a broken or jumped off saw chain from hitting the operator during sawing.

Check the chain catcher on a regular basis and replace it if it is damaged.

Silencer / exhaust outlet

1

  • Check the tight seat of the screws on the silencer (25) on a regular basis
→ If they are loose, tighten them hand-tight with the engine in cold condition.

!

Do not retighten the silencer screws when the engine is hot.

i

Clean the exhaust outlet on a regular basis

Adjusting the carburetor (idle speed)

The carburetor is factory-set to the correct idle speed so that the correct fuel-air mixture is fed to the engine.

!

An incorrect carburetor adjustment results in severe engine damages. Do not continue working with the chain saw in such a condition.

In the cases below the carburetor (idle speed) has to be corrected:

  • Speed too high (saw chain continues to move in idle speed)
  • Erratic running or lack of acceleration (idle speed too low)
  • Adjustment to weather conditions and temperatures

Contact a specialist workshop and have the carburetor adjustment done.

Cleaning

Clean the chain saw thoroughly after each application so that the faultless function is kept.

→ Clean the case with a soft brush or a dry cloth.
⚠️ Water, solvents and polishing agents shall not be applied.
→ 38 Make sure that the vent slots (32) of the cover and the engine's cooling fins (33) for engine cooling are free and clean (risk of overheating).

⇒ If heavily contaminated, clean the chain saw using a commercial chain cleaner.
→ 33 Clean the oil flow canal (19) with a clean cloth or a brush.
→ ➞ 38 Clean the brake strap (20) at the cover (13) using a brush.

Transport

ATIKA BKS 45-2 - Transport - 1

Before each transport:

  • switch off device
  • wait for stop of chain saw
  • attach the scabbard on the guide bar

- 10 Carry the product with the front handle. The guide bar shall show to the rear side.

- When transporting the product within a car put it in the boot or on a separate loading area. Secure the chain saw against tipping over, damages and fuel spillage.

Storage

■ Store unused equipment in a dry, locked place out of the reach of children.
■ Always re-attach the guide bar guard (chain guard) when storing the unit to prevent any injury by accidental contact.
■ To extend the service life of the saw and guarantee smooth operation, before storing for a longer period:

→ Operate the engine until the carburetor is empty.
→ thoroughly clean the device.
→ Empty the fuel tank completely.
→ Empty the oil tank completely.
→ ✿ Dispose of remainders of fuel/saw chain oil according to relevant regulations (environmentally compatible).

Tipp:

Some chain oils tend to encrustations after a longer period. For this reason the oil system should be flushed before a longer storing with a commercial chain saw cleaner. Fill the cleaner up to the middle (appr. 50 ml) into the empty oil tank. Close the tank. Operate the chain saw without installed guide bar and chain until all of the cleaner came out of the oil outlet of the chain saw.

⇒ After cleaning, immerse the saw chain in an oil bath for a short time and wrap it then with oiled paper.
