Frequently Asked Questions - 4CHR3 Sonoff

Why is my device staying offline?
After adding, the device may take 1-2 minutes to connect. If the problem persists, check the blue Wi-Fi LED indications: if it flashes once per second, Wi-Fi is not connected (incorrect password, too much distance, interference, 5G Wi-Fi not supported, MAC filtering enabled). If it flashes twice per second, the device is connected to Wi-Fi but not to the server (unstable network).
How to pair the device with the eWeLink app?
After turning on the device, it enters quick pairing mode (Touch): the Wi-Fi LED flashes twice quickly then once slowly. Open the app, tap '+', select 'Quick Pairing' and follow the instructions. If quick mode does not work, use compatible mode (see next question).
How to use compatible pairing mode?
Press and hold the pairing button for 5 seconds until the Wi-Fi LED flashes rapidly. In the app, select 'Compatible Pairing Mode', connect to the 'ITEAD-******' Wi-Fi with password '12345678', then return to the app and press 'Next'.
How to restore factory settings?
Delete the device in the eWeLink app: this automatically restores it to factory settings.
How to change Wi-Fi network?
Press and hold the pairing button for 5 seconds until the Wi-Fi LED flashes in a long-short-short cycle. The device returns to quick pairing mode. Then follow the standard pairing procedure with the new network.
How to pair an RF remote control (4CHPROR3 only)?
Press and hold the button of the channel to pair for 3 seconds until the Wi-Fi LED turns red and flashes once quickly, then release. Briefly press the button on the remote control. If the LED flashes once, pairing is successful.
How to unpair an RF remote control?
Press and hold the button of the channel to delete for 5 seconds until the Wi-Fi LED turns red and flashes twice quickly, then release. Briefly press the button on the remote control. If the LED flashes once, the code is cleared.
What types of loads can I connect?
Each channel supports up to 10 A / 2200 W (resistive). Total must not exceed 16 A / 3500 W for the 4CHR3 and 40 A / 8800 W for the 4CHPROR3. Suitable for lamps, fans, etc. Check compatibility with inductive loads.
Can I use 5 GHz Wi-Fi?
No, the device only supports 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi (IEEE 802.11 b/g/n). Ensure your router broadcasts on this frequency.
What do the different Wi-Fi LED flashes mean?
The blue LED indicates status: long-short-short flash = quick pairing mode; rapid flash = compatible mode; solid on = connected; short flash once = router not found; twice = connected to router but not to server; three times = updating.

Common Problems

Q: Why my device stays "Offline"?

A: The newly added device needs 1 – 2mins to connect Wi-Fi and network. If it stays offline for a long time, please judge these problems by the blue Wi-Fi indicator status:

  1. The blue Wi-Fi indicator quickly flashes once per second, which means that the switch failed to connect your Wi-Fi:

① Maybe you have entered a wrong Wi-Fi password.
② Maybe there's too much distance between the switch your router or the environment causes interference, consider getting close to the router. If failed, please add it again.
③ The 5G Wi-Fi network is not supported and only supports the 2.4GHz wireless network.
④ Maybe the MAC address filtering is open. Please turn it off.

If none of the above methods solved the problem, you can open the mobile datanetwork on your phone to create a Wi-Fi hotspot, then add the device again.

  1. Blue indicator quickly flashes twice per second, which means your device has connected to Wi-Fi but failed to connect to the server.

Ensure steady enough network. If double flash occurs frequently, which means you access an unsteady network, not a product problem. If the network is normal, try to turn off the power to restart the switch.
