Safety Instructions WARNING Read all safety warnings and all instructions. Failure to follow the warnings and instructions may result in electric shock, fire and/or serious injury. Save all warnings and instructions for fu- ture reference. The term „power tool“ in the warnings refers to your mains-operated (corded) power tool or battery-operated (cordless) power tool.

a) Keep work area clean and well lit. Clut- tered or dark areas invite accidents. b) Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases or dust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes. c) Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control. 2 ELECTRICAL SAFETY a) Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Do not use any adapter plugs with earthed (grounded) power tools. Unmodified plugs and matching outlets will reduce risk of electric shock. b) Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces, such as pipes, ra- diators, ranges and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed or grounded. c) Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of electric shock. d) Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carrying, pulling or unplugging the power tool. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts. Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of electric shock. e) If operating a power tool in a damp loca- tion is unavoidable, use a residual cur- rent device (RCD) protected supply. Use of an RCD reduces the risk of electric shock. 3 PERSONAL SAFETY a) Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating a power tool. Do not use a power tool while you are tired or under the influ- ence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention while operating power tools may result in serious personal injury. b) Use personal protective equipment. Al- ways wear eye protection. Protective equipment such as dust mask, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing protec- tion used for appropriate conditions will re- duce personal injuries. c) Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switch is in the o-position before connecting to power source and/or bat- tery pack, picking up or carrying the tool. Carrying power tools with your finger on the switch or energising power tools that have the switch on invites accidents. d) Remove any adjusting key or wrench be- fore turning the power tool on. A wrench or a key left attached to a rotating part of the power tool may result in personal injury. e) Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This enables better control of the power tool in unexpect- ed situations. f) Dress properly. Do not wear loose cloth- ing or jewellery. Keep your hair, cloth- ing and gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewellery or long hair can be caught in moving parts. g) If devices are provided for the connec- tion of dust extraction and collection fa- cilities, ensure these are connected and properly used. Use of dust collection can reduce dust-related hazards. h) Do not let familiarity gained from fre- quent use of tools allow you to becomeEN

complacent and ignore tool safety prin- ciples. A careless action can cause severe injury within a fraction of a second.

4 POWER TOOL USE AND CARE

a) Do not force the power tool. Use the cor- rect power tool for your application. The correct power tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it was designed. b) Do not use the power tool if the switch does not turn it on and o. Any power tool that cannot be controlled with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired. c) Disconnect the plug from the power source and/or the battery pack from the power tool before making any adjust- ments, changing accessories, or storing power tools. Such preventive safety meas- ures reduce the risk of starting the power tool accidentally. d) Store idle power tools out of the reach of children and do not allow persons unfamiliar with the power tool or these instructions to operate the power tool. Power tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users. e) Maintain power tools. Check for mis- alignment or binding of moving parts, breakage of parts and any other condi- tion that may aect the power tool’s op- eration. If damaged, have the power tool repaired before use. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools. f) Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges are less likely to bind and are easier to control. g) Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits etc. in accordance with these instructions, taking into account the working conditions and the work to be performed. Use of the power tool for op- erations dierent from those intended could result in a hazardous situation. h) Keep handles and grasping surfaces dry, clean and free from oil and grease. Slip- pery handles and grasping surfaces do not allow for safe handling and control of the tool in unexpected situations.

5 BATTERY TOOL USE AND CARE

a) Recharge only with the charger speci- fied by the manufacturer. A charger that is suitable for one type of battery pack may create a risk of fire when used with another battery pack. b) Use power tools only with specifically designated battery packs. Use of any oth- er battery packs may create a risk of injury and fire. c) When battery pack is not in use, keep it away from other metal objects, like paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws or other small metal objects, that can make a connection from one terminal to another. Shorting the battery terminals together may cause burns or a fire. d) Under abusive conditions, liquid may be ejected from the battery; avoid contact. If contact accidentally occurs, flush with water. If liquid contacts eyes, addi- tionally seek medical help. Liquid ejected from the battery may cause irritation or burns. 6 SERVICE a) Have your power tool serviced by a qual- ified repair person using only identical replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the power tool is maintaine d. b) Never service damaged battery packs. Service of battery packs should only be per- formed by the manufacturer or authorized service providers.

7 SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR GRASS

SHEARS a) Before you begin your work, examine the material you want to cut. Remove any for- eign bodies. Keep a continuous watch out for foreign bodies while you are working. If you come across any foreign bodies while cutting, turn o the device (release the ON button) and remove the items in question.EN

b) Keep the device at a suitable distance from your body while working. Only switch on the device when all parts of the body are well out of the way. c) Make sure that no people or animals ever come within the working or swiveling range of the device. d) Only use the device in broad daylight or make sure that you provide adequate arti- ficial light. Important! The cutting tools continue running on after the device has been switched o. e) When the device is not in use, make sure that it is stored in such a way that there is no risk of hands coming into contact with the cutting blades. f) If the cutting blades get jammed while cut- ting, turn o the device (release the ON button) and remove the object in question (thick branch, foreign body) with a suitable blunt aid. Never remove any such objects with your fingers as the pretensioned blade can cause serious injuries through cutting. g) Keep the air vents clean. h) Keep the charging cable away from the blades. Never use the device with the charging cable plugged in.

i) We recommend that you use a socket with

a residual current device with maximum 30mA tripping current for the charger. j) Never attempt to remove the cuttings with the motor running or to hold material you wish to cut. Always switch o the device before attempting to remove any jammed cuttings. k) Make sure you keep all parts of your body away from the blade. Never attempt to re- move the cuttings with the blade running or to hold the material you wish to cut. Always switch o the equipment before attempting to remove any jammed cuttings. A single moment of carelessness when using the hedge trimmer can result in serious injuries. l) Carry the hedge trimmer by its handle with the blades at a standstill. Always fit the pro- tective cover when transporting the hedge trimmer or putting it into storage. Careful handling of the equipment reduces the like- lihood of injury by the blade.

Hold the power tool by the insulated handles because the blade may strike concealed power cables. Contact between the blade and a live cable can make the metal parts of the equipment live and cause an electric shock. n) Hold the equipment correctly, for example with both hands if the equipment is fitted with two handles. o) Make sure you stand squarely at all times while working. Be careful when walking backwards. Tripping hazard! p) Never leave the equipment unsupervised in the work area. If you stop work for a while, leave the equipment in a safe place. q) If you stop your work in order to go to an- other area to work, you must make sure that the equipment is switched o while you are going there. r) Make sure you maintain a steady foothold on inclines at all times; walk – do not run. s) It is prohibited to work when there is a risk of bad weather or lightning. t ) Ensure that somebody is in the vicinity (but at a safe distance) in case of an accident. Warning! The switching arrange- ments installed on the tool by the manufacturer must not be removed or by passed, e.g. by fitting a switching button to the handle, as this may result in risk of in- jury and the tool will no longer switch o automatically. Do not lose this safety Information.
