Frequently Asked Questions - Caldwell Klarstein

How to clean the ice maker?
Remove the ice basket. Clean the interior with a soft cloth soaked in soapy water (diluted dish soap). Rinse with clean water and drain by removing the drain plug located at the bottom front. Dry the interior and exterior thoroughly before reuse.
Why does the 'ADD WATER' indicator light up?
The water tank is empty or the water level is insufficient. Press the ON/OFF button, add potable water up to the maximum mark, then restart the appliance. Wait 3 minutes before restarting.
Ice cubes stick together, what to do?
If the ambient temperature is below 15 °C, choose the 'small' ice cube size to prevent them from sticking. Also ensure the machine is not exposed to direct sunlight.
What water to use?
Use only potable water, preferably mineral water. Distilled water is not suitable. Change the water every 24 hours for hygiene reasons.
The machine does not make ice cubes even though the cycle seems normal
Check that the ambient temperature is between 10 and 43 °C and the water temperature between 8 and 32 °C. If the 'ADD WATER' or 'ICE FULL' indicator is on, resolve the corresponding issue. Contact customer service if the problem persists.
Can I use an extension cord or power strip?
No, never plug the appliance into a timer or remote-controlled outlet. Ensure the outlet is properly grounded and the power cord is not damaged. Avoid power strips behind the appliance.
What to do if the machine does not stop when the basket is full?
Direct sunlight or reflections may disturb the infrared sensor. Move the appliance away from direct light. If the problem persists, contact customer service.
How to drain the water?
The drain plug is on the lower front face of the appliance. Remove it to drain the water from the tank. Be sure to dry the interior after draining.
What is the ice making time?
The cycle lasts approximately 6 to 13 minutes depending on the selected size (small or large) and ambient temperature. The maximum daily production is 12 kg.
Can I use the machine outdoors?
No, use the appliance only indoors, on a flat and stable surface, away from heat sources (oven, radiator). The distance from the wall must be at least 10 cm at the back and sides.

This appliance contains the refrigerant isobutane (R600a), a natural gas which is environmentally friendly. Although it is flammable, it does not damage the ozone layer and does not increase the greenhouse effect. The use of this coolant has, however, led to a slight increase in the noise level of the appliance. In addition to the noise of the compressor, you might be able to hear the coolant flowing around the system. This is unavoidable, and does not have any adverse effect on the performance of the appliance. Care must be taken during the transportation and setting up of the appliance that no parts of the cooling system are damaged. Leaking coolant can damage the eyes.
