Frequently Asked Questions - AM8A Vonyx

How to connect a microphone to the mixing console?
Connect the microphone to an XLR input (MIC socket). Use a balanced XLR cable. If using a condenser microphone, activate the +48V phantom power via the PHANTOM switch on the rear panel. Adjust the channel GAIN for optimal level.
How to use the Bluetooth function?
Press the USB/SD button once to display 'BT' on the screen. The mixing console becomes visible to mobile devices. Enable Bluetooth on your smartphone or tablet and search for 'Vonyx AM8A' (or the displayed name). Connect. Volume is adjusted with the VOLUME MP3/AUX knob.
How to adjust the echo effect?
Use the REPETITION knob to adjust the echo repetition rate. Set the EFFECT LEVEL for effect volume. Press DSP to select the effect type (original, multi, etc.). The EFF control on each channel determines the amount of effect applied to that channel.
What is phantom power and when to use it?
The phantom power sends +48V voltage over XLR cables to power condenser microphones. Activate the PHANTOM switch only if using this type of mic. Do not activate with dynamic mics; it does not damage them but is unnecessary.
How to record a session?
Use the RECORD connector on the rear to connect a recording device (recorder, computer). Connect an RCA or jack cable depending on your device. The output level is that of the Main Mix.
How to connect passive speakers?
Connect the speakers to the SPEAKER OUTPUT sockets (6.35 mm jacks) marked LEFT and RIGHT. Ensure the speaker impedance is compatible with the built-in amplifier (check the manual). Use appropriate speaker cables.
What to do if the sound is clipped or distorted?
Check the GAIN setting of each channel: reduce it if the PEAK LED lights up. Lower the volume on the channel faders or Master faders. Ensure the equalizer does not boost certain frequencies too much. Avoid overloading the line input.
How to clean the mixing console?
Unplug the device from the mains. Use a dry soft cloth to wipe the surface. Never use chemicals, sprays, or liquids, as they may damage the controls and circuits.
What does the PEAK LED on a channel mean?
The PEAK LED indicates that the input signal level is too high and may cause distortion. If the LED lights, reduce the GAIN of that channel to avoid distortion.
What to do in case of humming or parasitic noise?
Check that all cables are properly connected and in good condition. Ensure the table is connected to ground. Keep audio cables away from power cables. Use balanced cables for long distances. Turn off unnecessary nearby devices.
