How to adjust the grind fineness?
Turn the adjustment dial on the side of the machine. The numbers range from 1 (finest) to 25 (coarsest). Start at setting no. 16 and adjust according to extraction time. Grind that is too fine slows down the flow, too coarse speeds it up.
How to descale the machine?
Use the provided Sage descaling powder. Dissolve one packet in 1 L of tap water, fill the tank. Turn off the machine, then press and hold the 2 cups and power buttons for 5 seconds to start descaling mode. Follow the on-screen instructions to descale the coffee, steam, and hot water. Then rinse with clean water.
How to clean the steam wand?
After each use, wipe the wand with a damp cloth. Purge it by turning the dial to STEAM for a few seconds. If holes are clogged, use the pin of the cleaning tool. For a deep clean, remove the tip using the integrated key and soak it in hot water.
What to do if coffee does not flow from the portafilter?
Check that the water tank is not empty. If the grind is too fine, it blocks the flow: use a coarser setting. Make sure the portafilter is properly locked and the basket is not clogged. Refer to the Extraction Guide in the manual.
How to program the brew volume?
Press and hold the 1 cup and 2 cup buttons for 3 seconds until they flash. Press the desired button to start extraction, then press again to stop. The volume is memorized.
How to use automatic dosing mode?
It is the default mode. Insert the portafilter, select the basket (single or double) with the Filter button, then press Dose. The machine automatically grinds the ideal amount. After tamping, the gauge indicates if the dose is correct. If under-dosed, the Dose button flashes to add a bit more (A Bit More).
How to replace the water filter?
Remove the water tank. Take the old filter out of its holder. Soak the new filter for 5 minutes in cold water, rinse the holder, insert the filter and set the reminder to 3 months. Put everything back into the tank and lock it.
Why is the maintenance light flashing?
If it flashes, a cleaning cycle is needed. Use a cleaning tablet and the provided disc, follow the cleaning cycle procedure. If it is solid, descaling is required. Refer to the Maintenance and Cleaning section of the manual.
How to adjust the water temperature?
Turn off the machine. Press and hold the 1 cup, 2 cups, and Power buttons simultaneously. The current temperature is displayed. Use 2 cups (+1°C), Power (+2°C), Manual Dose (-1°C), or Dose (-2°C) to change. Confirm with two beeps.
How to clean the grinder?
For routine cleaning, purge the grinder by holding the Dose button. For deeper cleaning, unlock the hopper, remove the top burr and clean with the brush. If clogged, follow the Advanced Conical Burr Cleaning steps in the manual.
