How to assemble the CS300 detector?
Attach the detection coil to the shaft by aligning the holes and tightening the nut. Insert the armrest at the other end. Adjust the shaft length so that the coil is about 5 cm above the ground. Wrap the cable around the shaft and plug the connector into the back of the display unit.
Which batteries to use and how to install them?
Use two 9V batteries (type 6LR61C, not included). Open the covers on the back of the control panel, insert the batteries respecting polarity (+ and -), then close.
What are the operating modes of the CS300?
Four modes: ALL-METAL (all metal), DISC (discrimination), NOTCH (notch), and AUTO NOTCH (auto notch). Use the MODE button to switch.
How to adjust discrimination and sensitivity?
In DISC, NOTCH or AUTO NOTCH modes, press ADJ to adjust sensitivity (SENS) with + or -. In DISC mode, use ADJ to adjust the discrimination window. In NOTCH mode, select an icon with +/-, then press ENT to ignore or detect it.
How to ground balance the detector for mineralized soil?
Set the GND BAL knob to PRESET. Hold the coil at hip level, then press GND TRAC several times to stabilize. Lower the coil to 3 cm above ground: if it does not sound, balancing is correct. Otherwise, slightly turn GND BAL left and repeat.
What is the maximum detection depth?
In discrimination mode: about 25 cm; in all metal mode: about 27 cm. Actual depth depends on size, orientation, and soil mineralization.
Can I use headphones with the CS300?
Yes, plug headphones with a 3.5 mm jack into the PHONE output. The built-in speaker is automatically cut off. Adjust volume with the VOL knob to avoid hearing damage.
What to do if the detector emits irregular or false signals?
Slightly reduce sensitivity (SENS) until false signals disappear. Swing slowly. Interference may come from power lines or other detectors. If the signal does not repeat, it is likely worthless metal.
Is it legal to use a metal detector in France?
According to the Heritage Code (article L542-1), administrative authorization is mandatory for any search of archaeological objects. It is forbidden to damage historical sites. Report any discovery to the town hall.
How to maintain the CS300?
Clean it with a damp cloth, without solvents. The detection coil can be submerged in water, but the control panel must stay dry. Remove batteries if the device is not used for a long time. Store it away from dust and extreme temperatures.
