How to start the Grizzly ARM 203322 Lion Set lawn mower?

To start, first insert the charged battery, then push in the safety key. Then, hold down the on/off switch (17) and press the safety switch (18) on the handle. Release the on/off switch for the motor to run.

How to adjust the cutting height?

Use the adjustment lever (8) located on the housing. It offers 5 cutting positions from 25 to 65 mm. For a decorative lawn, choose 25-45 mm; for a utility lawn, 45-65 mm.

What to do if the lawn mower does not start?

First check that the battery is charged and properly inserted. Make sure the safety key is pushed in. If the problem persists, the switch may be defective; contact customer service.

How to maintain the blade?

Before any intervention, turn off the device, remove the safety key and battery. Wear thick gloves. To change the blade, unscrew the central screw counterclockwise. Mount the new blade in the opposite direction and tighten firmly.

What is the battery runtime?

The maximum runtime at no load is approximately 30 minutes. In actual use, it depends on the cutting height and the condition of the grass. Fully recharge the battery before each use.

Can I use the lawn mower in the rain?

No. Use is prohibited in rainy weather or on wet grass due to the risk of electric shock. Additionally, the mower is rated IPX1 (protected against vertical water drops) but not against rain.

How to clean the lawn mower?

Use a brush or dry cloth. Never spray water. Remove grass residues with a wooden or plastic spatula. Grease the wheels occasionally. Store it in a dry place.

What does the grass catcher level indicator mean?

The flap on the grass catcher indicates the fill level: when open, the catcher is empty; when closed, it is full. Empty the catcher as soon as it is full to avoid blockage.

How to store the lawn mower?

Loosen the quick-release fasteners to fold down the folding handle. Remove the battery and safety key. Store it dry, frost-free, and out of reach of children. Let the engine cool down before storing in a closed room.

Introduction

Congratulations on the purchase of your new device. With it, you have chosen a high quality product.

During production, this equipment has been checked for quality and subjected to a final inspection. The functionality of your equipment is therefore guaranteed.

The operating instructions constitute part of this product. They contain important information on safety, use and disposal. Before using the product, familiarise yourself with all of the operating and safety instructions. Use the product only as described and for the applications specified.

Keep this manual safely and in the event that the product is passed on, hand over all documents to the third party.

Intended Use

The equipment is designed only for mowing domestic lawns and grass areas. The device is intended to be used by do-it-yourselfers.

This equipment is not suitable for commercial use. Commercial use will invalidate the guarantee.

The equipment is intended for use by adults. It is not to be used by children or people who are unfamiliar with these instructions. The use of the equipment is prohibited in the rain or a damp environment.

The manufacturer will not be liable for damages caused by use other than for the intended purpose or by incorrect operation.

The cordless lawn mower has a cutting tool, which turns parallel to the cutting level. It features a powerful electrical drive, a sturdy plastic casing, a safety switch, a collision guard as well as a grass box.

Additionally, the equipment is height adjustable to 5 levels and has smooth-running wheels.

General Safety Information

IMPORTANT READ THE OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS CARE- FULLY.

This unit can cause serious injury if not used correctly. Before using the unit, carefully read through the instruction manual and familiarise yourself with all of its controls.

- This device must not be used by children. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the device. Cleaning and maintenance must not be carried out by children.

- This device can be used by individuals with reduced physical, sensory or mental abilities or a lack of experience and knowledge if they are supervised or have been instructed in the safe use of the device and understand the resulting hazards.

Preparation:

- Do not allow the use of this equipment by children or others who are unfamiliar with these operating instructions. Local regulations may specify the minimum age of the operator.

- Do not use the equipment when people and particularly children or pets are nearby. Ensure that children do not play with the device.

- The operator or user is responsible for accidents, injuries to other people or damage to the property of others.

- Check the terrain on which the equipment is to be used and

remove stones, sticks, wires and other foreign objects that could become caught and thrown up.

- Wear suitable work clothing such as stable shoes with non-slip soles and robust, long trousers. Do not use the equipment when barefoot or when wearing open sandals. Do not wear loose clothing or clothes that straps or belts suspend from.

- Before use, always perform a visual inspection to check whether the cutting blades, fastening bolts and the whole cutting unit are worn out or damaged. Damaged or worn cutting blades and fastening bolts must only be replaced as a set to prevent imbalance. Worn or damaged information signs must be replaced.

- Never use the lawnmower with damaged protective equipment or protective grating or without installed protective equipment, e.g. deflector plates and/or grass collection equipment.

• Take care with equipment that has several cutting tools, as the movement of one blade may result in the rotation of the other blades.

- Use only spare parts and accessories supplied and recommended by the manufacturer. The use of non-original parts will immediately invalidate the guarantee.

- Worn or damaged information signs must be replaced.

Working with the Equipment:

Do not place feet or hands near or under rotating parts when working. Risk of injury!

- Switch on the motor according to the instructions and only when your feet are at a safe distance from the cutting tools.

- Do not use the equipment in the rain, in poor weather, in a damp environment, or on wet grass. Work only in daylight or with good lighting.

- Do not work with the equipment when tired, lacking concentration or under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Always take breaks in good time. Take a sensible approach to the work.

- When working, ensure a firm stance, particularly on slopes. Always work across the slope, never upwards or downwards. Take particular care when changing the direction of travel on the slope. Do not work on excessively steep slopes.

- Run the equipment only at a walking pace. Take particular care when turning the equipment around, pulling it towards you or going backwards.

- Switch on the equipment carefully and in accordance with the directions in these instructions. Ensure sufficient distance between feet and the rotating blades.

- Do not tilt the equipment when starting other than if it is necessary to do so when starting up in long grass. In this case,

tilt the equipment by pressing down the handle bar such that the front wheels of the equipment are raised. Always check that both hands are in the working position before returning the equipment to the ground.

• Do not work without the grass bag or collision guard. Keep away from the ejection hole at all times.
• Do not start the motor while standing in front of the discharge duct.
• When starting or turning the motor on, the lawnmower must not be tilted, unless it is required to lift the lawnmower in the process. In this event, tilt it only as far as absolutely necessary and lift it only on the side facing away from the user.
• Stop the cutting blades when the lawnmower has to be tipped for transport over other areas than grass and when the lawnmower is moved from and to the area to be mowed.

Caution! Danger! The blade continues to run after switching off.

There is a risk of injury.

- The equipment is not to be lifted or transported while the motor is running. Switch off the equipment if it has to be tilted in transit, when crossing surfaces other than grass, and when the equipment is being transported to and from the surfaces to be mowed.

• Always keep the grass ejection hole clean and clear. Remove cut material only when the equipment is stopped.
• Do not leave the equipment unattended in the workplace.
• Do not work with equipment that is damaged, incomplete, or has been modified without the authorisation of the manufacturer. Do not use the equipment with damaged safety devices or screens or with missing safety equipment such as deflection and/or grass collection devices.
• Do not overload the equipment. Work only within the specified power range and do not change the regulator settings on the motor. Do not use low-powered machines for heavy work. Do not use your equipment for purposes other than those for which it is designed.
• Do not use the equipment near inflammable liquids or gases. Non-observance will result in a risk of fire or explosion.

• Switch the device off, pull out the safety key and remove the battery. Check that all moving parts are at rest:

• Whenever you leave the machine,

• Before cleaning the ejection hole or removing blockages,
• When the equipment is out of use,
• Before checking, cleaning or working on the equipment,
• If the equipment has hit a foreign object or if strange vibrations occur during

work. In this case, check the equipment for damage and have it repaired if applicable.

- Ensure that all nuts, bolts and screws are tightened firmly and the equipment is in safe working condition.

- Check the mower for any damages.

• Repair damaged parts as appropriate.

- Do not place feet or hands near or verwendet wird, under rotating parts. Do not stand in front of the grass ejection hole during sickle mowing.

• Always pull the circuit breaker/ignition key if:

- You leave the garden device, before removing blockages,

- if you are examining, cleaning or working on the garden device

- after a collision with a foreign object. Immediately examine the device for damages and if necessary have it repaired,

- if the garden device starts to vibrate unusually (check immediately!).

Maintenance and Storage

- When servicing the blades, remember that they can move even if the power source is off.

- Ensure that all nuts, bolts and screws are tightened firmly and the equipment is in safe working condition.

- Check the mower for any damages.

• Do not attempt to repair the equipment yourself unless you have been trained to do so. Any work not specified in these instructions is to be carried out only by customer service centres that we have authorised.
• Keep the equipment in a dry location and out of reach of children.
• Handle the equipment with care. Keep tools sharp and clean, in order to facilitate better and safer work. Follow the maintenance instructions.
• Wear protective gloves when changing the cutting device.
• Regularly check the grass collection device for wear and strains. For safety reasons, replace worn or damaged parts. When adjusting the blades, take particular care to avoid fingers being trapped between the rotating blades and fixed parts of the machine.
• Check that only replacement tools authorised by the manufacturer are used.
• Before you shut down the machine, let the motor cool down.

Residual Risks

Even if properly operating and handling this electric tool, some residual risks will remain. Due to its construction and build, this electric tool may present the following hazards:

a) Cuts
b) Ear damage if working without ear protection.

c) Damage to your health caused by swinging your hands and arms when operating the appliance for longer periods of time or if the unit is not held or maintained properly.

Warning! During operation, this electric tool generates an electromagnetic field which, under certain circumstances, may impair the functionality of active or passive medical implants. To reduce the risk of serious or lethal injuries, we recommend that persons with medical implants consult their doctor and the manufacturer of their medical implant before operating the machine.

Assembling instructions

• Alwayas wear cut-protection gloves
• Undertake only work with which you are confident.
  • In case of uncertainty, contact a specialist or contact our service directly

Install lower bar

1. Open the lower bar (4) and move it to the desired inclination.
2. Fix the lower bar by means of the pre-mounted quick-release levers (5).

Install curved handle

1. Fasten the bow-type handle (1) with the screws and the upper quick-release levers (2) to the right and left of the lower bar (4)..

2. Clipping in the cable holders: Clip the cable holders (15) onto the lower bar to fixate the machine cable (16).

If you loosen the quick release le-vers, you can fold down the curved handle and the lower part of the handle for storage of the device.

Installing the grass box

The collection box is already completely preassembled.

1. Loosen the Phillips screw (19a) on the carrying handle (19).
2. Place the carrying handle (19) on the upper side of the grass collection box (13) and screw it tight with a Phillips screw (19) from below.
3. Place the plastic tabs (13a) over the grass collection box rods (13b).

Attention: Do not operate the appliance until the collision guard and grass box are fully installed. Risk of injury!

Insert/remove battery

Switch off the device, remove the safety key (20) and wait for the blade to come to a stop. There is a risk of personal injury.

1. To insert the battery (7) into the device, push the battery along the guide rail into the device. It locks into place audibly.
2. To remove the battery (7) from the device, press the release button (A7b) on the battery and pull the battery out.

Initial Operation

Before operating the machine, you must

• install the upper and lower upper handles:
• install the collection bag

Caution! Risk of injury! During the assembly or disassembly of the collection bag, the engine must be turned off and all moving parts must have come to a standstill. Remove the battery from the device before carrying out any work.

Operation

Caution! Risk of injury! Always wear appropriate protective equipment and work gloves while working with the appliance. Prior to each use, ensure that the appliance is working correctly. Ensure that the collection bag is installed correctly and the device has been mounted properly. Do not use the device if a switch is damaged. Personal protective equipment and a fully functional appliance reduce the risk of injuries and accidents.

Adjustments on the mower, as well as assembly and disassembly of the collection basket, mulch kit and lateral ejection chute, etc. may only be made while the motor is switched off and the blades are at a standstill.

Switch off the device, remove the safety key (20) and wait for the blade to come to a stop. There is a risk of personal injury.

Observe noise control and local regulations.

Mounting/removing the grass box

1. To mount the grass catch box (13) lift the impact protection (14) and mount the grass catcher box (13).
2. Lower the collision guard (14) onto the grass box (13) - it will keep it in place.
3. To remove the grass box (13), lift the collision guard (14) and unhook the grass box from the mounting bracket. Flap down the collision guard to the housing.

A level indicator is fitted on the side of the grass bag.

Adjusting the Cut Height

There are 5 different cutting heights:

55 - 65 mm - large cutting height
40 - 55 mm - medium cutting height
25 - 40 mm - low cutting height

1. Hold the cutting height adjuster (8) and move it to the correct cutting height, as appropriate.

The correct height is around 25 – 45 mm for a decorative lawn and around 45 – 65 mm for a used lawn.

A higher cut height should be selected for the first cut of the season.

Observe noise control and local regulations.

Switching On and Off

1. Place the mower on a level surface.

2. Lift the battery cover (6) of the device housing and insert the charged battery (7) along the guide rail into the device. It clicks audibly into place.

3. Close the transparent cover (6) again.

1. Insert the safety key (20) in the corresponding opening (20a) above the rechargeable battery.

2. Before switching on, ensure that the equipment is not in contact with any objects.

1. To switch on, press the power switch (17) and hold it down while pressing the safety switch (18) against the bow-type handle (1). Release the power switch (17).

2. To switch the apparatus off, let go of the security switch (18).

After switching off the equipment, the blade continues to turn for several seconds. Do not touch the moving blade. There is a risk of injury.

Working with the Lawnmower

Regular mowing encourages increased foliation of the grass and kills off weeds at the same time. Therefore, not only does each mowing increase the density of the lawn, it also produces an evenly resilient lawn.

The first cut is to be made in around April, at a growth height of 70 – 80 mm. In the main vegetation period, the lawn is to be mowed at least once a week.

• Run the equipment at a walking pace, in tracks that are as even as possible. For gap-free mowing, the tracks should always overlap by a few centimetres.
• Adjust the cut height so the equipment is not overloaded. Otherwise, the motor may be damaged.
• On slopes, always work across the slope. Take particular care when going backwards and pulling the equipment.
• Clean the equipment after each use, as described in the chapter on “Cleaning, Maintenance and Storage”.

Switch off the equipment after work and in order to transport it, disconnect the plug and wait until the blade stops. There is a risk of injury.

Cleaning, Maintenance and Storage

Have work that is not described in these instructions carried out by a customer service centre that we have authorised. Use only original parts.

Wear gloves when handling the blade

Before any maintenance or cleaning work, switch off the device, remove the safety key (20) and wait for the blade to come to a standstill. There is a risk of personal injury.

Turn off the appliance and, before doing any servicing, remove the battery.

The following cleaning and servicing should be done regularly. This will ensure a long and reliable service life.

General Cleaning and Maintenance Work

Do not hose down the lawnmower with water. Electric shock hazard

• Always keep the equipment clean. To clean, use a brush or cloth but no detergent or solvent.
• After mowing, use a piece of wood or plastic to remove adherent plant remains from the wheels, ventilation holes, ejection hole and blade area. Do not use hard or pointed objects, as these may damage the blade.
- Oil the wheels from time to time.
- Before each use, check the lawnmower for obvious defects such as loose, worn or damaged parts. Check that all nuts, bolts and screws are sitting firmly.
- Check the covers and protective devices for damage and check that they are sitting correctly. Replace them if necessary

Changing the Blade

If the blade is blunt, it can be sharpened by a specialist workshop. If the blade is damaged or showing signs of imbalance, it must be replaced

1. Turn the equipment over.
2. Use sturdy gloves and hold the blade firmly (22). Turn the blade screw (21) anticlockwise off of the motor spindle using a screwdriver.
3. Install the new blade (22) in the reverse order. Ensure that the blade (22) is positioned correctly and the screw (21) tightened firmly.

Storage

Release the upper and lower quick-re-lease levers (2 + 5) and fold the bow-type handle (1) and lower bar (4) together so that the device takes up less space. Ensure that the cables are not jammed in the process.

• Keep the equipment dry and out of reach of children.
• Allow the motor to cool before storing the equipment in a confined space.

We will not be liable for damages caused by our equipment where these are caused by improper repair or the use of non-original parts or by use other than for the intended purpose.

Waste disposal and environmental protection

Remove the battery from the device and take the device, battery, accessories and packaging for environmentally friendly recycling.

Machines do not belong with domestic waste.

• Return the unit to a recycling centre. The plastics and metals in the unit can be sorted and appropriately recycled. Ask our Service Centre for details.
• Throw the cut grass on the compost. Do not throw it in the normal household waste.
• Defective units returned to us will be disposed of for free.

Devices sent in freight collect - by bulk freight, express or with other special freight - are not accepted.
