Frequently Asked Questions - SWP8002 SCHEPPACH

Which liquids can I pump with the Scheppach SWP8002 pump?
You can pump clear water and dirty water containing up to 5% suspended particles, with a maximum size of 35 mm. The liquid temperature must not exceed 35°C. It is forbidden to pump salt water, flammable, aggressive or explosive liquids, as well as fecal wastewater.
What is the maximum immersion depth?
The maximum immersion depth is 7 meters. The pump must not be used beyond this limit.
How to install the pump correctly?
Place the pump in a sump of at least 45x45x45 cm to allow the float to move freely. You can hang it by the handle or place it on the bottom. Use the supplied cable for hanging. Connect it to an outlet with a residual current circuit breaker (30 mA).
How to adjust the float switch?
The float switch can be adjusted by changing its position in the notches. Check the operation by placing the pump in a container of water and manually raising/lowering the float. Make sure the float does not touch the ground before the pump stops to avoid dry running.
What to do if the pump does not start?
First check the mains voltage. If the voltage is correct, check that the float switch is not stuck. Disassemble and clean the pump if necessary. Consult the troubleshooting table in the manual for more causes.
How to clean the impeller?
Unplug the pump. Unscrew the connection support of the pump connection. Remove the screws under the body and the base plate. Remove the foot. Clean the impeller with clear water then reassemble in reverse order.
Can I use the pump continuously?
No, the pump is not designed for continuous operation. It is intended for intermittent use (occasional drainage). Continuous use can damage the motor.
What electrical protection is required?
The pump must be connected to a power outlet with a residual current device (RCD) of max. 30 mA. The power cable must be of type H07RN-F, with a minimum cross-section as required. Never use a damaged cable.
How to store the pump in winter?
Protect the pump from frost. Clean it with clear water and store it in a dry, dark, frost-free place at a temperature between +5°C and +30°C. Keep the manual nearby.
Where can I find spare parts?
Wear parts (seals) and other spare parts are available from your specialized dealer. State the article number and model (SWP8002) when ordering. Use only original parts.

Only use original parts for accessories as well as for wearing and spare parts. Spare parts are available from your specialized dealer. Specify our part numbers as well as the type and year of construction of the device in your orders.

ATTENTION

The device and packaging materials are not toys! Children must not be allowed to play with plastic bags, film and small parts! There is a risk of swallowing and suffocation!

8. Attachment / Before starting the equipment

Connecting the line (fig. 3)

The pump is installed either with a fixed pipeline or with a flexible hose line.

  • Screw the pump connection angle (5) onto the pump connection (7).
  • Screw the connecting branch for hose (6) onto the pump connection angle (5).
  • Put the hose over the connecting branch for hose (6) and fasten it with a hose clamp. Alternatively, use a screw connection on the pump connection angle (5) or on the connecting branch for hose (6).
  • Check that the pump is standing firmly on the bottom of the shaft or hung up safely.
  • Check whether the pressure line has been attached correctly and the unused pump outlet is fully closed.
  • Avoid that the pump runs dry.
  • Check that the electrical connection is 220V\~ - 240V\~ 50Hz

  • Check the proper status of the electrical plug socket and make sure that the plug socket is sufficiently fused (at least 6 A). Insert the pump plug into the plug socket and the pump is ready for operation.
    • Make sure that moisture or water never come in contact with the mains connection.
    • There is a risk of electrocution.

9. Initial operation

⚠️ IMPORTANT!

You must fully assemble the appliance before using it for the first time!

Positioning/Hanging

  • The dimensions of the pump shaft must be not less than 45 x 45 x 45 cm, in order that the float switch (3) can move freely.
  • The pump can be suspended by the handle (1) or placed on the shaft floor. The pump can be suspended and/or removed using a rope.
  • For safe suspension, loop the rope around two of the holders of the handle (1) and guide it upwards through the handle (1).
    • Never suspend the pump by the hose.
  • Immerse the pump in the water to be sucked in by forming an angle of 45 degrees (to reduce the amount of air trapped in the pump body). If the pump is resting on the floor, make sure that it is on a flat and stable surface
    • Make sure that there are no people in the liquid to be pumped.
  • Connect the pump to the mains.

Adjustment of the float switch

  • The float switch (3) is set so that immediate commissioning is possible. For stationary installation the function of the float switch (3) must be checked regularly (at least every three months).
  • The float switch must be attached so that the switching point ON level and the switching point OFF level can be reached easily and with little expenditure of energy.
  • Check this by placing the pump into a vessel filled with water and lift the float switch carefully by hand and then lower it again. In this case, you can see whether the pump switches on and off.
  • During the adjustment of the float switch, ensure that the float switch does not contact the floor before the pump switches off. Attention! Risk of running dry and damage to the device.

Electrical connection

The electrical motor installed is connected and ready for operation. The connection complies with the applicable VDE and DIN provisions.

Damaged electrical connection cable

The insulation on electrical connection cables is often damaged.

This may have the following causes:

• Passage points, where connection cables are passed through windows or doors.
- Kinks where the connection cable has been improperly fastened or routed.
- Places where the connection cables have been cut due to being driven over.
• Insulation damage due to being ripped out of the wall outlet.

- Cracks due to the insulation ageing.

Such damaged electrical connection cables must not be used and are life-threatening due to the insulation damage.

Check the electrical connection cables for damage regularly. Make sure that the connection cable does not hang on the power network during the inspection.

Electrical connection cables must comply with the applicable VDE and DIN provisions. Only use connection cables with the marking „H05RN-F“.

10. Cleaning, maintenance and storage

Cleaning

Attention!

Always unplug the power cord before cleaning.

General cleaning instructions

  • In case of transport for utilization in different locations, the pump must be cleaned with clear water after every use.
  • In case of stationary installation, the function of the float switch (3) is to be checked regularly (at the latest every three months).
  • With a water jet, remove fluff and fibrous particles which are possibly present in the pump casing
  • Regularly remove sludge from the pit base (at the latest every 3 months) and also clean the shaft walls
  • Clean precipitation from the float switch with clear water,

- In the case of a long period of non-use, the pump must be thoroughly cleaned after the last use and before the new use, since difficulties in start-up can arise due to precipitation and residues.

Cleaning the impeller wheel

If the impeller wheel is dirty or blocked, you can clean it via the pump connection (7) or by removing the floor plate (8):

  1. Screw the pump connection angle (5) off the pump connection (7).
  2. Remove the screws at the bottom of the pump housing and take off the floor plate (8).
  3. Remove the screws at the bottom of the foot part (9) and take off the foot part (9).
  4. Clean the impeller wheel with clear water.
  5. The re-assembly takes place in reverse order.

Store the device and its accessories in a dark, dry and frost-proof place that is inaccessible to children. The optimum storage temperature is between 5 and 30°C. Cover the electrical tool in order to protect it from dust and moisture. Store the operating manual with the electrical tool.

Maintenance

The pump is largely maintenance-free. However, we recommend regular inspections and care for a long service life.

Connections and repairs

Connections and repairs of electrical equipment may only be carried out by an electrician.

Please provide the following information in the event of any enquiries:

  • Type of current for the motor
    • Machine data - type plate
  • Motor data - type plate
