How to install the E301LS motion detector?

Install the device on a wall or in a corner. Use the screws and plugs provided. Pass the wire through the cable gland and connect according to the diagram. Fix the detector to the bracket. Call a qualified technician and disconnect the power supply before any intervention.

How to adjust the light sensitivity (LUX)?

Turn the LUX knob fully counterclockwise to turn off the lamp, then turn it until it lights up at the desired brightness level. The adjustment range is < 5 to 50 lux.

Why does the connected lamp not turn on?

Check that the power supply is connected (220-240 V~, 50 Hz). Ensure the LUX knob is not in the total extinction position. The detector requires approximately 30 seconds warm-up after power-on.

What is the maximum load supported by the detector?

For an incandescent lamp, the maximum load is 1200 W. For a lamp with integrated ballast, it is 300 W. The rated current is 10 A.

Can I use the E301LS detector outdoors?

No, the device is designed for indoor use only. Its IP44 protection rating protects against water splashes, but it is not intended for prolonged exposure to weather.

How to clean the detector?

supervision or instruction concerning the use of the device in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Children shall not play with the device. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision. Do not use or install a visibly damaged device.

All modifications of the device are forbidden for safety reasons. Damage caused by user modifications to the device is not covered by the warranty.

3. General Guidelines

Refer to the Velleman® Service and Quality Warranty on the last pages of this manual. Only use the device for its intended purpose. Using the device in an unauthorised way will void the warranty. Damage caused by disregard of certain guidelines in this manual is not covered by the warranty and the dealer will not accept responsibility for any ensuing defects or problems.

4. Installation and Connection

Installation Guidelines

Avoid pointing the detector towards objects with highly reflective surfaces such as mirrors.
Avoid pointing the detector near heat sources such as heating vents, air conditioning units, etc.

Avoid pointing the detector towards objects that may move in the wind such as curtains, plants, etc.
Install the detector at a distance of minimum 60 cm when using a lamp of 60 W or more.
Do not install the detector directly below a light source.

Installation

Install this detector flat on a wall or in a corner. Use an appropriate screwdriver and the included screws and nylon plugs.

1. Fix the bracket onto the wall using two nylon plugs and two screws.
2. Pass the wire through the cable gland and connect the wire according to the connection diagram. Screw the cable gland onto the detector.
3. Fix the detector onto the bracket.

Connection Guidelines

Risk of electroshock! Touching live wires can cause life-threatening electroshocks.

• Have the device installed by qualified personnel.
• Disconnect the power source.
• Cover and shield any adjacent live components.
• Ensure the device cannot be switched on.
• Make sure the power supply is disconnected.

5. Operation

Testing the Detector

1. Test the detector at the point of time you feel the lamp needs to be switched on.
2. Switch on the power. The detector needs a warm-up time of ± 30 seconds before it will switch on the connected lamp.
3. Turn the LUX knob fully anti-clockwise. The lamp should switch off.

Setting the Detector

1. Turn the LUX knob until the lamp switches on.
2. Close the detector with the cover and tighten the screw.

6. Cleaning and Maintenance

This appliance does not need any particular maintenance. However, occasionally wipe it with a damp cloth to keep it looking new. Do not use harsh chemicals, cleaning solvents or strong detergents.

General Warranty Conditions Concerning Consumer Products (for EU):

• All consumer products are subject to a 24-month warranty on production flaws and defective material as from the original date of purchase.
• Velleman® can decide to replace an article with an equivalent article, or to refund the retail value totally or partially when the complaint is valid and a free repair or replacement of the article is impossible, or if the expenses are out of proportion.

You will be delivered a replacing article or a refund at the value of 100% of the purchase price in case of a flaw occurred in the first year after the date of purchase and delivery, or a replacing article at 50% of the purchase price or a refund at the value of 50% of the retail value in case of a flaw occurred in the second year after the date of purchase and delivery.

Not covered by warranty:

• all direct or indirect damage caused after delivery to the article (e.g. by oxidation, shocks, falls, dust, dirt, humidity...), and by the article, as well as its contents (e.g. data loss), compensation for loss of profits; - consumable goods, parts or accessories that are subject to an aging process during normal use, such as batteries (rechargeable, non-rechargeable, built-in or replaceable), lamps, rubber parts, drive belts... (unlimited list);
  flaws resulting from fire, water damage, lightning, accident, natural disaster, etc....;

• flaws caused deliberately, negligently or resulting from improper handling, negligent maintenance, abusive use or use contrary to the manufacturer's instructions;

• damage caused by a commercial, professional or collective use of the article (the warranty validity will be reduced to six (6) months when the article is used professionally);
• damage resulting from an inappropriate packing and shipping of the article;
• all damage caused by modification, repair or alteration performed by a third party without written permission by Velleman®.
• Articles to be repaired must be delivered to your Velleman® dealer, solidly packed (preferably in the original packaging), and be completed with the original receipt of purchase and a clear flaw description.
• Hint: In order to save on cost and time, please reread the manual and check if the flaw is caused by obvious causes prior to presenting the article for repair. Note that returning a non-defective article can also involve handling costs.
• Repairs occurring after warranty expiration are subject to shipping costs.
• The above conditions are without prejudice to all commercial warranties.
