The equipment is to be used only for its prescribed purpose. Any other use is deemed to be a case of misuse. The user / operator and not the manufacturer will be liable for any damage or injuries of any kind caused as a result of this. To use the equipment properly you must also observe the safety information, the assembly instructions and the operating instructions to be found in this manual. All persons who use and service the equipment have to be acquainted with this manual and must be in- formed about the equipment’s potential hazards. It is also imperative to observe the accident preven- tion regulations in force in your area. The same applies for the general rules of health and safety at work. The manufacturer will not be liable for any changes made to the equipment nor for any damage resulting from such changes. The machine may be used only with original accesso- ries and original tools of the manufacturer. These operating instructions are intended to make it easier for you to get familiar with your device and uti- lize its intended possibilities of use. The operating instructions contain important notes on how to work safely, properly and economically with your machine and how to avoid dangers, save repair costs, reduce downtime, and increase the reliability and working life of the machine. In addition to the safety regulations contained herein, you must in any case comply with the applicable reg- ulations of your country with respect to the operation of the machine. Put the operating instructions in a clear plastic folder to protect them from dirt and humidity, and store them near the machine. The instructions must be read and carefully observed by each operator prior to starting the work. Only persons who have been trained in the use of the machine and have been informed on the related dan- gers and risks are allowed to use the machine. The required minimum age must be met. c) Keep the device away from rain or moisture. Water entering an electrical device increases the risk of electric shock. d) Do not use the mains lead for any purpose for which it was not intended, e.g. to carry the de- vice, to hang up the device or to pull the mains plug out of the mains socket. Keep the mains lead away from heat, oil, sharp edges or mov- ing parts of the device. Damaged or tangled mains leads increase the risk of electric shock. e) When working outdoors with an electrical power tool always use extension cables that are also approved for use outdoors. The use of an extension cable suitable for outdoor use re- duces the risk of electric shock. f) Use a residual current device (RCD) for pro- tection if operating the electrical power tool in a moist environment is unavoidable. The use of an RCD reduces the risk of electric shock.

a) Remain alert at all times, watch what you are doing and always proceed with caution. Do not use the device if you are tired or under the inuence of drugs, alcohol or medication. One moment of carelessness when using the de- vice can lead to serious injury. b) Wear personal protective equipment and al- ways wear safety glasses. The wearing of person- al protective equipment such as dust masks, non- slip safety shoes, safety helmets or ear protectors, appropriate to the type of electrical power tool used and work undertaken, reduces the risk of injury. c) Avoid unintentional operation of the de- vice. Check that the electrical power tool is switched off before you connect it to the mains, pick it up or carry it. Accidents can hap- pen if you carry the device with your nger on the ON / OFF switch or with the device switched on. d) Remove any setting tools or spanners before you switch the device on. A tool or spanner left attached to a rotating part of a device can lead to injury. e) Avoid placing your body in an unnatural po- sition. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. By doing this you will be in a better position to control the device in unforeseen circumstances. f) Wear suitable clothing. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Keep your hair, clothing and gloves clear of moving parts. Loose cloth- ing, jewellery or long hair can become trapped in moving parts. g) If vacuum dust extraction and collection de- vices are tted do not forget to check that they are properly connected and correctly used. The use of these devices reduces the haz- ard presented by dust. Intended application The tool is intended for sawing and cutting wood, plastic, plaster, non-ferrous metals and fastening elements (e.g. unhardened nails and staples). It is also suitable for processing soft wall tiles and for dry grinding and scraping small surfaces. It is particularly suitable for work close to edges and ush cutting. The appliance is designed for use by adults. Young people under 16 years of age may only use the appli- ance under supervision. The manufacturer accepts no liability for damages caused by improper use or incor- rect operation of the appliance. Use this product only as described and for the areas of applications specied. The appliance is not intended for commercial use. Any other usage or modication of the appliance is deemed to be improper and carries a signicant risk of accidents. The manufacturer accepts no responsibility for damage(s) attributable to misuse.

5. Safety information

m WARNING! Read all safety warnings, instruc- tions, illustrations and technical data provided with this power tool. Failure to follow the warnings and instructions may result in electric shock, re and/or serious injury. Save all warnings and instructions for future reference. The term “power tool” used in the safety instructions refers to mains powered power tools (with power cord) and cordless power tools (without power cord).

a) Keep your working area clean and well lit. Unti- dy or poorly lit working areas can lead to accidents. b) Do not work with the device in potentially ex- plosive environments in which there are in- ammable liquids, gases or dusts. Electrical power tools create sparks, which can ignite dusts or fumes. c) Keep children and other people away while you are operating the electrical tool. Distrac- tions can cause you to lose control of the device.

2) Electrical safety

a) The connection plug of the electric tool must t into the socket. The plug may not be mod- ied in any way. Do not use an adaptor plug together with earthed electric tools. Unmodi- ed plugs and suitable sockets reduce the risk of an electric shock. b) Avoid touching earthed surfaces such as pipes, radiators, ovens and refrigerators with any part of your body. 6. Additional Safety Warnings

Device-specic safety instructions for Multi-tool

• This power tool is designed for sawing, cutting, grinding and sanding. Read all safety warnings, in- structions, illustrations and technical data supplied with this power tool. Failure to follow the instruc- tions below can lead to electric shocks, re and/or serious injuries.

• Use clamps or another practical method to secure and support the workpiece on a stable surface. If the workpiece is held only by hand or against the body, it will be in an unstable position that may re- sult in a loss of control.

• Avoid cutting nails. Inspect the workpiece for any nails and remove them before work.

• Before switching on the machine, make sure that the application tool does not touch the workpiece.

• Keep hands away from moving parts

• Do not leave the machine running unattended. Only use the machine with a hand posture.

• Always switch the machine off and wait until the saw blade has come to a complete standstill, be- fore removing the saw blade from the workpiece.

• Avoid touching the application tool or workpiece immediately after machining because the parts are still very hot and can cause burns on skin.

• Do not let the machine idle unnecessarily.

• Always use the correct dust protection or breathing mask for the respective material and application.

• Some materials may contain toxic chemicals. Take precautions to prevent inhalation of working dust and contact with skin. Follow the safety data of the material manufacturer.

• Do not wet the workpiece surface with water be- cause this machine is not waterproof.

• Ensure adequate ventilation of the work area dur- ing grinding operations.

• The use of this machine to sand certain products, paints and wood may expose the user to dust containing hazardous substances. Use suitable breathing protection.

• Do not use accessories that are not specically designed and recommended by the tool manufac- turer. The mere fact that an accessory can be at- tached to your power tool does not guarantee safe operation.

• Wear protective equipment. Depending on the work, use a face shield or safety or safety goggles. If necessary, wear ear protectors, gloves and a work apron that is able to repel small grinding par- ticles or workpiece splinters. The eye protection must be able to repel the ying dust generated dur- ing various operations. The dust mask or breathing mask must be capable of ltering out particles gen- erated by the work. Long-term exposure to noise can lead to hearing damage. h) Do not let familiarity gained from frequent use of the tool allow you to become complacent and ignore tool safety principles. A careless action can cause severe injury within a fraction of a second.

4. Careful handling and use of electrical power tools

a) Do not overload the device. Always use an electrical power tool that is intended for the task you are undertaking. By using the right electrical power tool for the job you will work more safely and achieve a better result. b) Do not use an electrical power tool if its switch is defective. An electrical power tool that can no longer be switched on and off is dangerous and must be repaired. c) Pull the mains plug from the socket before you make any adjustments to the device, change accessories or when the device is put away. This precaution is intended to prevent you from unintentionall starting the device. d) When not in use always ensure that electrical power tools are kept out of reach of children. Do not let anyone use the device if he or she is not familiar with it or has not read the in- structions and advice. Electrical power tools are dangerous when they are used by inexperi- enced people. e) Look after the device carefully. Check that moving parts are working properly and move freely. Check for any parts that are broken or damaged enough to detrimentally affect the functioning of the device. Have damaged parts repaired before you use the device. Many accidents have their origins in poorly main- tained electrical power tools. f) Keep cutting tools clean and sharp. Carefully maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges are less likely to jam and are easier to control. g) Use the electrical power tool, accessories, inserted tools etc. in accordance with these instructions and advice, and the stipulations drawn up for this particular type of device. In doing this, take into account the working con- ditions and the task in hand. The use of elec- trical power tools for purposes other than those intended can lead to dangerous situations. h) Keep handles and grasping surfaces dry, clean and free from oil and grease. Slippery handles and grasping surfaces do not allow for safe handling and control of the power tool in un- expected situations.

• Allow a hot battery to cool before charging.

• Do not open up the battery and avoid mechan- ical damage to the battery. Risk of short circuit and fumes may be emitted that irritate the respira- tory tract. Ensure fresh air and seek medical assis- tance in the event of discomfort.

• Do not use non-rechargeable batteries. This could damage the appliance. Warning! This electric tool generates an electromag- netic eld during operation. This eld can impair ac- tive or passive medical implants under certain condi- tions. In order to prevent the risk of serious or deadly injuries, we recommend that persons with medical implants consult with their physician and the manu- facturer of the medical implant prior to operating the electric tool.

The machine has been built according to the state of the art and the recognised technical safety require- ments. However, individual residual risks can arise during operation.

• Health hazard due to electrical power, with the use of improper electrical connection cables.

• Furthermore, despite all precautions having been met, some non-obvious residual risks may still re- main.

• Residual risks can be minimised if the „safety in- structions“ and the „Proper use“ are observed along with the whole of the operating instructions.

• Avoid accidental starting of the machine: the oper- ating button may not be pressed when inserting the plug in an outlet. Use the tool that is recommended in this manual. This ensures that your machine per- forms optimally.

• Hands may never enter the processing zone when the machine is in operation.

• Keep bystanders at a safe distance from the work area. Everyone entering the work area must wear protective equipment. Fragments of the workpiece or a damaged accessory may be thrown out and cause injury beyond the immediate working area.

• Do not let the power tool run while you are carrying it by your side. Otherwise, the accessory could ac- cidentally catch your clothing in contact with it and draw your body towards it.

• Do not use accessories that require coolants. The use of water or other coolants may result in electric shock or death

• Always ensure a safe footing. When using the ma- chine in high places, make sure that there are no persons underneath. Information on the rechargeable battery

• Charge the batteries only in chargers that are recommended by the manufacturer. Risk of re if a charger that is suitable for a specic type of battery is used with other batteries.

• In the power tools, use only the batteries de- signed for the purpose. The use of other batter- ies may result in injuries and risk of re.

• Keep the unused battery away from paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws and other small metal objects, which could cause bridging of the contacts. A short circuit between the battery contacts may cause burns or re.

• If used incorrectly, liquid may leak from the battery. Avoid contact with this. In the event of accidental contact, rinse off with water. If the liquid gets into eyes, seek medical assistance. Leaking battery uid may cause skin irritations or burns.

• Ensure that the device is switched off before inserting the battery. Inserting a battery into a power tool that is switched on may result in acci- dents.

• Recharge the batteries indoors only because the battery charger is designed for indoor use only. Risk of electric shock.

• To reduce the electric shock hazard, unplug the battery charger from the mains before cleaning the charger.

• Open the packaging and remove the device care- fully.

• Remove the packaging material as well as the packaging and transport bracing (if available).

• Check that the delivery is complete.

• Check the device and accessory parts for transport damage. Inform the transport agent immediately of any faults. Later complaints cannot be considered.

• If possible, store the packaging until the warranty period has expired.

• Familiarize yourself with the machine with the help of the operating instructions manual before using it.

• Use only original parts for accessories as well as consumables and spare parts. Spare parts can be obtained from your scheppach retailer.

• Please quote our article numbers as well as type and production year in all your orders. m ATTENTION! The device and packaging materials are not toys! Children must not be allowed to play with plas- tic bags, lm and small parts! There is a risk of swallowing and suffocation!

• Always make sure that the machine is switched off and the battery removed before carrying out any work on the machine. Fitting and removing the application tool (Figs. 2 and 3 )

• Do not t the application tool upside down. If an application tool is tted the wrong way round, it can damage the machine and cause serious injury.

• Fit the application tool in the correct direction ac- cording to the work to be done. The application tool can be tted in positions offset by 30 degrees. CAUTION:

• Be careful when closing the locking lever. The lock- ing lever may suddenly close and pinch a nger.

• The moving part of the locking lever must be reg- ularly cleaned of dust and lubricated. Otherwise, dust may accumulate on the moving part of the locking lever and impede its smooth movement.

• Do not start the tool while the lever is opening. Oth- erwise the tool may be damaged.

3) Insert the retaining screw as far as it will go. Then

return the locking lever to its original position. If using an application tool for sanding, t the ap- plication tool to the sanding pad so that it matches the direction of the pad. The sanding pad features a Velcro t system that allows comfortable and quick application of sandpaper. Since sandpaper has holes for dust extraction, t the sandpaper so that its holes coincide with those in the sanding pad. To remove the sandpaper, lift its edge and remove the paper. To remove the retaining screw, use the assembly pro- cedure in reverse. If using application tools with a different type of in- stallation part, select a correct adapter (optional ac- cessory).

To ensure that the Li battery pack provides long ser- vice you should take care to recharge it promptly. You must recharge the battery pack when you notice that the power of the cordless equipment drops. Always make sure that the machine is switched off before inserting the battery into the machine. Insertion / removal of a batterypack into the ap- pliance Ensure that the appliance is switched off before in- serting the battery. The insertion of a battery into an electrical appliance that is switched on can lead to accidents. Removing the rechargeable battery pack: Press the release button (4) and remove the re- chargeable battery pack. Used batteries If a fully recharged battery lasts for considerably shorter operating times, the battery is used up and needs to be replaced. Only use an OEM battery pack replacement available from our Customer Service. Switching on and off To switch on the machine, slide the slide switch to position “I (ON)”. To switch off the machine, slide the slide switch to position “O (OFF)”. Adjusting the number of pendulum strokes (Fig.

The number of pendulum strokes is adjustable. To change the number of pendulum strokes, turn the ad- justing dial between 1 and 6. The higher the number, the higher the number of pendulum strokes. Before starting work, set the adjusting dial to the appropriate number for your workpiece. NOTE: The adjusting dial cannot be turned directly from 1 to 6 or from 6 to 1. Continuing to turn the adjusting dial by force may damage the machine. If you change the direction of rotation of the adjusting dial, always move it through all intermediate positions.

• Keep hands and face away from the application tool before starting the machine and during operation . Caution

• Do not exert excessive pressure on the machine as this may cause the motor to block and the machine to stop. Cutting, sawing and scraping CAUTION:

• Do not force the machine in the direction of use (e.g. to both sides) without a cutting edge. This can damage the machine.

• Set the application tool on the workpiece. Then push the machine forward so that the movement of the application tool does not slow down. NOTE:

• Violent feeding or excessive pressure on the ma- chine can reduce the performance of the work.

• Before starting cutting work, it is recommended to preset the pendulum stroke number to 4 - 6.

• Remove sawdust by pulling the tool accordingly. This improves work performance.

• The circular saw is recommended for cutting long straight lines. Sanding CAUTION:

• Use sandpaper that has been used to sand metal, not wood.

• Do not use worn sandpaper or sandpaper without grit. Bring the sandpaper into contact with the work- piece. NOTE:

• A grinding sample on a test material is recommend- ed in order to determine the pendulum stroke num- ber suitable for your work.

• Use sandpaper with the same grain size until sand- ing of the whole workpiece is nished. If the sand- paper grain size is changed during work, a ne sur- face nish may not be obtained.

Danger! Always pull out the battery pack before starting any cleaning work. Cleaning

• Keep all safety devices, air vents and the motor housing free of dirt and dust as far as possible. Wipe the equipment with a clean cloth or blow it with compressed air at low pressure.

• We recommend that you clean the device immedi- ately each time you have nished using it.

• Clean the equipment regularly with a moist cloth and some soft soap. Do not use cleaning agents or solvents; these could attack the plastic parts of the equipment. Ensure that no water can seep into the device. The ingress of water into an electric tool increases the risk of an electric shock.

Store the device and its accessories in a dark, dry and frost-proof place that is inaccessible to children. The optimum storage temperature is between 5 and 30˚C. Store the electrical tool in its original packag- ing. Cover the electrical tool in order to protect it from dust and moisture. Store the operating manual with the electrical tool.

16. Disposal and recycling

The equipment is supplied in packaging to prevent it from being damaged in transit. The raw materials in this packaging can be reused or recycled. The equip- ment and its accessories are made of various types of material, such as metal and plastic. Defective com- ponents must be disposed of as special waste. Ask your dealer or your local council. Old devices must not be disposed of with house- hold waste! This symbol indicates that this product must not be disposed of together with domestic waste in compliance with the Directive (2012/19/EU) pertain- ing to waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE). This product must be disposed of at a des- ignated collection point. This can occur, for example, by handing it in at an authorised collecting point for the recycling of waste electrical and electronic equip- ment. Improper handling of waste equipment may have negative consequences for the environment and human health due to potentially hazardous sub- stances that are often contained in electrical and electronic equipment. By properly disposing of this product, you are also contributing to the effective use of natural resources.
