How to install the Marmitek Split 612 UHD 2.0?

Turn off all devices. Connect the HDMI source (Blu-ray player, console, etc.) to the "Input" port. Connect the two TVs/projectors to the "Output 1" and "Output 2" ports. Plug the power adapter into the DC 5V input and into the electrical outlet. Preferably use certified High Speed HDMI cables.

How to use the EDID switch?

The EDID switch offers two modes: AUTO (detects the common resolution and audio format of both screens) and COPY 1 (uses only the data displayed on output 1). In AUTO, the image shows on both screens; COPY 1 is useful if screen 2 does not support 4K resolution.

What maximum resolution does this splitter support?

It supports Ultra HD 4K (3840x2160) at 60 Hz, with HDR and 36-bit Deep Color. Also compatible with 1080p@120 Hz and all 3D formats.

Can I use this splitter with HDMI cables longer than 15 meters?

The recommended maximum length is 15 meters. Beyond that, signal loss may occur. Use certified High Speed HDMI cables. For longer distances, consider an active HDMI extender.

Why do I have no image or poor quality image?

Check that the power adapter is plugged in and the splitter is powered on. Test each cable and device one by one. Use fast and short HDMI cables (≤15 m). Make sure the source and display support HDCP 2.2 for protected 4K content.

What audio formats are supported?

The splitter passes through advanced HDMI audio formats: Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD Master Audio, Dolby Digital/AC3, DTS 5.1 and stereo PCM.

How to switch between EDID modes?

The splitter has a small physical switch (button) marked EDID. Set it to AUTO or COPY 1 as needed. The change does not affect current settings but may require restarting the source.

Is this splitter compatible with 4K gaming consoles?

Yes, it is compatible with consoles outputting 4K (PS4 Pro, Xbox One X, etc.) thanks to HDMI 2.0b and HDCP 2.2. Be sure to use an Ultra High Speed HDMI cable.

Can I connect two displays with different resolutions?

Yes. In AUTO mode, the splitter selects the highest common resolution supported by both displays. If you want to display full 4K on one screen and a lower resolution on the other, use COPY 1 mode and connect the 4K screen to Output 1.

How to maintain the splitter?

Unplug the power before any cleaning. Use a dry, soft cloth to remove dust. Do not use solvents or liquid products. Store the device in a dry place, away from sunlight and heat sources.

3.1 Introduction

Congratulations on your purchase of the Marmitek Split 612 UHD 2.0^TM ! This active HDMI splitter connects 2 TVs or projectors with a single HDMI source. Unlike passive HDMI splitters, it can do this without any loss of signal or encryption, while maintaining optimal image quality. It's also ideal for use with HDMI Extenders, for example, to another room. The Split 612 UHD 2.0^TM supports Ultra HD (4k), Full HD (1080p) and all 3D formats, making it suitable for all your existing and future equipment.

3.2 Benefits

3.3 HDMI properties

• The maximum throughput speed is 18 Gbit/s (gigabits per second). This allows HDMI 2.0 to display Ultra HD 4K images at 60 fps (frames per second).
• Suitable for the latest Ultra HD 4K60 resolution (3840 x 2160 / 60Hz), High Dynamic Range (HDR), Deep Color and 4:4:4 chroma colours.
  Supports all 3D formats (suitable for use with your own 3D equipment)

4 Getting started

4.1 Before installation:

• Turn off all devices (TV and HDMI sources) before connecting them to the Split 612 UHD 2.0^TM . If a device cannot be turned off, please remove the plug from the socket.
• Only use High Speed HDMI® certified cables for the best picture and sound quality. Using too much force to connect or disconnect the HDMI cables may damage them.
  Please be careful when connecting your HDMI cables. These damage easily.

4.2 Installation

1 Use an HDMI cable to connect the HDMI source (such as a game console, Blu-ray player or digital TV decoder) to the HDMI port marked "Input".
2 Use an HDMI cable to connect the TV or projector to the HDMI ports marked "Output".
3 Preferably, connect the TV or projector with the highest resolution (e.g. UltraHD) to "Output 1" and those with a lower resolution (e.g. Full HD) to "Output 2".
4 Connect the power adapter to the "DC 5V" input and insert the plug into the socket.

5 Use

5.1 EDID

EDID stands for Extended Display Identification Data and is used for communication between HDMI sources and TVs, enabling you to determine the supported display resolutions and audio formats. The HDMI source requests this information from the TV and determines the best resolution or audio format. When using multiple TVs (TVs or projectors), the best resolution and audio format that is supported by all connected TVs is determined.

This may cause problems in some situations, for example, when one of the connected sources or TVs does not fully support EDID.

5.2 EDID Auto or Copy 1

Use the EDID button to choose the following options:

AUTO: automatically detects the highest possible common image resolution and audio format that is supported by both TVs. Sound and image will be displayed on both TVs.
COPY 1: only detects the resolution and audio format of the display connected to "Output 1". This prevents problems with playing, for example, 3D or UltraHD (4k).

Tip: In standard situations, always use the automatic setting, which will result in sound and image on all connected TVs. With manual settings, no image or sound may be displayed on one or more TVs if the appropriate setting is not supported

No (or poor) image and sound

If you experience poor or no picture after connecting the HDMI splitter, please try to identify the problem by connecting the devices to your TV, monitor or projector one by one. This allows you to determine whether the problem is with the HDMI sources, the HDMI cables, the HDMI splitter or the TV.

Make sure the power adapter is connected and plugged in.
- For the best picture and sound quality, only use High Speed HDMI® certified cables.
- Do not use HDMI cables longer than those specified in the technical data.
- Check the HDMI cables and/or connectors for damage.
Both the HDMI source and your TV should fully support HDMI.
- Check that your HDMI sources and TV support HDCP 2.2 (High Bandwidth Digital Content Protection) copy protection.

Incorrect 3D display

• Please check whether the HDMI source is set to display 3D and/or it is set to automatic.
  Both the HDMI source and your HDTV should support the same 3D formats.
• Please check that 3D is displayed correctly by connecting the HDMI source directly to the HD display with an HDMI cable.
