How to configure the GXP1630 for the first time?
Connect the handset, the Ethernet cable to the LAN port, the power adapter. The screen displays the time after startup. To configure the IP address, press MENU then select Status > Network Status. Access the web interface via the phone's IP (default password: admin).
Does the GXP1630 support Power over Ethernet (PoE)?
Yes, the GXP1630 has two Gigabit Ethernet ports, one with integrated PoE (IEEE 802.3af compliant). You can power it via the Ethernet cable if your switch supports PoE.
How many SIP accounts can I register?
The GXP1630 supports up to 3 SIP accounts on 3 lines. Each account can be configured independently via the web interface.
How to use the BLF keys?
The 8 BLF keys (Busy Lamp Field) are programmable to monitor line status or for call transfer. Insert the provided paper BLF label under the plastic cover to identify each key.
Can I make emergency calls with the GXP1630?
No, the GXP1630 is not preconfigured for emergency calls. You must subscribe to a compatible SIP service and manually configure emergency numbers. Grandstream recommends having a traditional landline or mobile phone for emergencies.
How to reset the GXP1630 to factory settings?
Press and hold the MENU key for about 7 seconds until the screen displays 'Reset'. Confirm the reset. You can also do it via the web interface under Maintenance > Factory Reset.
Is the GXP1630 compatible with headsets?

The GXP1630 delivers HD wideband audio, superb full-duplex hands-free speaker-phone with advanced acoustic echo cancellation, advanced security protection for privacy, and compatible with Grandstream UCM Features.

Installing the Phone (Phone Stand):

  1. Insert the hooks on top of the stand into a slots, you have options to use either upper OR lower slots.
  2. Firmly slide the stand upward to lock it in place.

Installing the Phone (Wall Mount):

  1. Insert all 4 hooks located in the front of wall mount into the slots.
  2. Firmly slide the wall mount upward to lock it in place.
  3. Pull out and rotate the tab from handset rest to hold the handset while the phone is mounted on the wall.

Installing BLF Paper Label:

  1. Install the paper label by aligning the cutouts on paper label with the plastic notches on the phone and gently lay the paper down on the phone surface.
  2. Install the plastic cover over the paper label by inserting the non-cutout side of the plastic cover under the notches on the left side of the panel, adjust the plastic cover in up/down direction to make 3 cutouts on the right side align with the plastic notches.
  3. Slightly pull the plastic cover upward to complete the installation.

To setup the GXP1630, follow the steps below:

  1. Connect the handset and main phone case with the phone cord.
  2. Connect the LAN port of the phone to the RJ-45 socket of a hub/switch or a router (LAN side of the router) using the Ethernet cable.
  3. Connect the 5V DC output plug to the power jack on the phone; plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet.
  4. The LCD will display provisioning or firmware upgrade information. Before continuing, please wait for the date/time display to show up.
  5. Using the phone embedded web server or keypad configuration menu, you can further configure the phone using either a static IP or DHCP.

  1. To access the MENU, press the round MENU button.
  2. Navigate the menu by using the UP/DOWN and LEFT/RIGHT buttons.
  3. Press the round MENU button to confirm a menu selection.
  4. The phone automatically exits MENU mode when there is an incoming call, the phone goes off-hook, or when the MENU mode is left idle for 60 seconds.

PHONE CONFIGURATION:

Configure the GXP1630 Using a Web Browser:

  1. Ensure your phone is powered up and connected to the Internet.
  2. Press MENU button to go into menu of the phone.
  3. Select "Status," then "Network Status," to check the IP address(es).
  4. Type the phone's IP address in your PC browser. (See figure below).
  5. The default administrator username and password are "admin"; the default end-user username is "user" and the password is "123".

Configure the GXP1630 using the Keypad:

  1. Make sure the phone is idle.
  2. Press the MENU button to access the keypad MENU to configure the phone.
  3. Select MENU->Config, to configure settings for SIP Proxy Outbound Proxy, SIP User ID, SIP Auth ID and SIP Password.
  4. Follow MENU options to configure the basic features of the phone. For example: the IP address if using a static IP. For details, please check GXP1630 User Manuals.
  5. Please contact your ITSP (Internet Telephony Service Provider) for additional settings that may be necessary to configure the phone.
