Assembly, operating and safety instructions
. The product switches on at dusk. The LED is a very long-life and energy-saving light source. The light duration depends on the amount of sunlight, the angle at which light hits the solar17 GB/IE module
, and the temperature (the rechargeable battery capacity varies by temperature). A vertical angle of light at temperatures above the freezing point is ideal. The rechargeable battery
does not achieve maximum capacity until after several charge and discharge cycles. Parts description

USE! WHEN PASSING THIS PRODUCT ON
CHILDREN! Keep rechargeable batteries away from chil- dren. Do not leave the rechargeable batteries lying around. There is a danger that these will be swallowed by children or pets. If they are accidentally swallowed seek immediate medi- cal attention. Children or persons lacking knowledge or ex- perience in handling the product or have lim- ited physical, sensory or mental abilities, must not use the product without supervision or in- struction by a person responsible for their safety. Children must be supervised at all times to prevent them from playing with the product. Never leave children unsupervised with the packaging material. The packaging material poses a suffocation hazard. Children frequently underestimate the dangers. Please always keep the product out of the reach of children. This product is not a toy and should be kept out of the reach of children. Children are not aware of the dangers associated with handling electrical products. Do not use the product if you detect any type of damage. The LED is not replaceable. If the LED fails at the end of its life, the entire product must be replaced.
HAZARD! Do not use the product in explosive environments contain- ing flammable vapours, gasses or dusts. Product-specific safety instructions Do not expose the product to strong vibration or high mechanical loads. Make sure the solar module
is free of dirt and free of snow and ice in winter. Otherwise the performance of the solar module
will be diminished.19 GB/IE Cold temperatures negatively impact the rechargeable battery operating time. Clean and store the product in a dry, warm location during extended periods of non-use, e.g. in winter. In the event of damage, repairs or other prob- lems with the product, please contact an elec- trician. The LED cannot be replaced.
HAZARD! Use only rechargeable batteries of the recommended type. Other rechargeable or single-use batter- ies could explode during charging.

JURY! When removing the prod- uct, be sure to also remove the base and ground spike to prevent hazards (e.g. tripping). DANGER - FIRE HAZARD! Never switch the product on inside the packaging. Safety instructions for batteries / rechargeable batteries DANGER TO LIFE! Keep batteries / re- chargeable batteries out of reach of children. If accidentally swallowed seek immediate medical attention. DANGER OF EXPLOSION! Never recharge non-rechargeable batteries. Do not short-circuit bat- teries / rechargeable batteries and / or open them. Overheating, fire or bursting can be the result. Never throw batteries / rechargeable batteries into fire or water. Do not exert mechanical loads to batteries / rechargeable batteries. Risk of leakage of batteries / rechargea- ble batteries Avoid extreme environmental conditions and temperatures, which could affect batteries / rechargeable batteries, e.g. radiators / direct sunlight. If batteries / rechargeable batteries have leaked, avoid contact with skin, eyes and mucous membranes with the chemicals! Flush immediately the affected areas with fresh water and seek medical attention! WEAR PROTECTIVE GLOVES! Leaked or damaged batteries / rechargeable batteries can cause burns on contact with the skin. Wear suitable protective gloves at all times if such an event occurs. In the event of a leakage of batteries / rechargeable batteries, immediately remove them from the product to prevent damage.20 GB/IE Only use the same type of batteries / rechargeable batteries. Do not mix used and new batteries / rechargeable batteries. Remove batteries / rechargeable batteries if the product will not be used for a longer period. Risk of damage of the product Only use the specified type of battery / rechargeable battery! Insert batteries / rechargeable batteries ac- cording to polarity marks (+) and (-) on the battery / rechargeable battery and the product. Clean the contacts on the battery / rechargea- ble battery and in the battery compartment before inserting! Remove exhausted batteries / rechargeable batteries from the product immediately. Initial use Mounting the product Remove the individual parts from the packag- ing and assemble the product as shown in Figure A. There are two options: the spacer tube

Push the assembled product far enough into the ground (lawn, flower bed) so it is stable. Since the product relies on sunlight, consider and observe the following points prior to instal- lat ion.

Preparing the product prior to initial use Note: The product features a twilight sensor and an On / Off switch
. When fully charged the product on time is approx. 6 to 8 hours. Unscrew the sphere
to the ON position before using it for the first time. Screw the sphere
and place the prod- uct in the sun. Switching the product on / off Slide the On / Off switch
to the OFF posi- tion. The product is permanently switched off. Replacing the rechargeable battery Note: The rechargeable battery
is designed for prolonged operation. However, it may need to be replaced after being used for a long time. Re- chargeable batteries are subject to natural wear and the output may decrease. For optimal perfor- mance the batteries should be replaced every 12 months. Replace the rechargeable battery as shown in figures D–F. Unscrew the sphere
from the spacer tube
Loosen the two screws
on the underside counter-clockwise using a suitable cross-tip screwdriver and remove the housing
from the remainder of the module (see Fig. D). Then also loosen the three screws
on the underside of the cover counter-clockwise us- ing a suitable cross-tip screwdriver and remove the cover
from the remainder of the module (see Fig. E). Remove the rechargeable battery
and re- place with a new, charged rechargeable bat- tery of the same type (see „Technical data“). Please note the polarity (+ / -) when inserting the rechargeable battery (see Fig. F).22 GB/IE Now reattach the cover

If you notice the product is malfunctioning, remove any sources of interference from the area around the product. Notice: Electrostatic discharge can lead to mal- functions. In the event of such malfunctions, briefly remove and reinsert the rechargeable batteries. Note: The performance of the rechargeable battery is better in summer than in winter due to the weather. (see “Replacing the battery”) LED doesn’t light up LED defective The LED cannot be replaced. Dispose of the product properly (see “Disposal”) Maintenance / Cleaning Note: The LED cannot be replaced. The product is maintenance-free. Never use caustic cleaners.23 GB/IE Regularly clean the product with a dry, lint- free cloth. Use a slightly moist cloth to remove any stubborn dirt. Replace the rechargeable batteries if the op- erating time decreases noticeably after some time despite good sun exposure (see chapter “Replacing the rechargeable battery“). Only use the correct size and recommended type of rechargeable batteries (see section „Tech- nical data“). Disposal The packaging is made entirely of recyclable materials, which you may dispose of at local recycling facilities.
