Use of the device Before using for the first time, fill the kettle with clean water up to its maximum capacity and boil the water. Then drain the water and repeat the process a second time. The kettle is now ready for use. Press the button above the handle to open the kettle lid. Always fill the kettle to the ‘MAX’ level indicated on the product. Place the kettle base on a flat, dry, level surface. Place your kettle on the base and close the lid securely. Plug in the kettle and press on/off (5). The water begins to boil and the heating indicator (2) lights up. If you wish, you can set the temperature to be reached. Briefly press the set button (4) to set the desired temperature (40, 70, 80, 90 or 100°C). When the desired temperature is displayed, the kettle automatically starts to heat to that temperature. When the water boils, the kettle stops automatically. Press the set button (4) for 2 seconds to activate the keep-warm function for 2 hours. The corresponding LED remains lit for as long as the function is active. You can set the desired temperature by briefly pressing the set button (4) (40, 70, 80, 90 and 100). To deactivate the keep-warm function, press and hold the set button (4) for 2 seconds. An automatic safety cut-out has been fitted for protection against overheating, it will operate if the kettle is switched on when containing insufficient water. If the automatic safety cut-out has operated, switch the kettle off, disconnect from the power outlet and allow the kettle to cool down for 5 to 10 minutes before using it again. Cleaning and maintenance Make sure the appliance is unplugged from the supply socket and fully cooled down before cleaning. To clean the exterior surfaces, slightly wipe over with a soft damp cloth. To clean the inner walls of the kettle, use a soft damp cloth or a soft brush to remove the residues on the filter. Note: Never use abrasive product The appliance has to be descaled regularly to ensure optimum performance. The frequency depends on the water hardness and the boiling frequency. If you begin to notice the increase of the noise during boiling, or if the kettle switches off before water being boiled, this indicates that descaling is necessary. Generally, the descaling should be done in the following periodicity:
- With soft water, at least once every 6 months.
- With hard water, at least once every 3 months. You can use a decalcifying product (in this case read the instructions supplied with the product carefully) or diluted white vinegar (one part vinegar to three parts water). After the descaling, rinse the inner of the kettle thoroughly with clean water. Correct disposal of the unit (Electrical and Electronic Equipment). (Applicable in the European Union and the rest of Europe that have adopted separate collection systems countries). The European Directive 2012/19/EU on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE), requires that old household electrical appliances must not be disposed of in the normal household waste stream. Old appliances must be collected separately in order to optimize the recovery and recycling of the materials they contain and reduce the impact on human health and the environment. The symbol of the crossed out dustbin is marked on all products to remind the obligations of separate collection. Consumers should contact their local authority or retailer for information concerning the correct disposal of their product.
