USER MANUAL Cocoon JANE

USER MANUAL Position 1: baby carried on your chest - Option A and B (See page 2) 1 Find the KidsZone logo Place the inner part of the wrap on your chest. Make sure that the Kidszone logo is in the centre at the front. 2 Put it around your front Take hold of each end by the upper edge letting the rest of the fabric hang down behind and slide your hands along the edge of each end until reaching the lower region of your back. 3 Cross the ends over behind So the ends don’t wrinkle up across your back, place the right end over the left (or vice versa) and hold it with the index finger and thumb of your left hand (or vice versa). Now slide your right hand (or vice versa) under the end you are holding and pull it so they cross over. 4 Angel wings Cross them more, while you gradually raise your arms holding each end by the top edge. Slide your fingers along each end, while you lift the edges it will look like the wings of an angel. 5 Place them over your shoulders Now rest the ends over your shoulders pulling each end gently as if you were putting on a wrap or a sleeveless jacket. Feel the fabric form a cross on your back. 6 Tuck them through the front band Carefully tuck the ends under the front band (the part with the Kidszone logo) that forms a belt. 7 Pull them downwards Pull the two ends downwards. Check that the top part is now firmly secure on your shoulders like a pair of braces. And make sure that the front section forming a band goes over the ends. 8 Cross them over at the front Now cross the ends over below the front band and place each end around your waist and reaching the region of your lower back.

IMPORTANT! READ CAREFULLY AND KEEP FOR

9 Cross them over behind your back Cross the ends over again at your lower back region and bring each end forward going round your waist again. 10 Tie them with a double knot Tie the ends securely with a double knot below the front band level with the lower abdomen. You can also tie them on either side at the hip if this is more comfortable. Note: Make sure that the knot is secure and tight and that it cannot come undone at any time by itself. See how to tie the knot on page 20. 11 Pull and check It is time to put your baby ni the sling, but first you need to check the elasticity and firmness of your V-shaped braces, and that the front band remains low, so that your child will be safe and comfortable. 12 Put the baby’s 1st leg through Support your baby against one shoulder and hold him securely with one hand on his back, and use your other hand to slot his leg through the brace on the other side holding his calf. Push his lower leg downwards so he is firmly supported by the brace while using your other hand to hold your baby securely. Do not stop holding your baby firmly against you while completing this action. 13 Put baby’s 2nd leg Through follow the same procedure for the other side. 14 Snuggle baby downwards Once you are sure that both the baby’s legs are inserted through each of the V-shaped braces, settle your baby in the centre of the V where the braces cross over. 15 Locate baby’s hands Check that the baby’s arms are free and none of his limbs are trapped. Make sure he can move them at all times. 16 Wrap the V shape around the baby Stretch the V-shaped braces out so they are wide and make sure they are not folded over and this could cause discomfort to you and/or your baby. The wider and flatter the material is, the more comfortable you and your baby will be.16

17 Check the baby is comfortable Make sure that the width of the braces covers your shoulders and both the baby’s knees. Adjust your baby until he is comfortable and in the correct position. If the baby is over 3.5 months you can carry him as shown in the diagram (with his legs hanging down and the front band around the lower part of your stomach). 18 Pull the front band up Now gently pull the front band or the fabric with the logo on it upwards and make sure that the material covers your baby’s back right up to his neck. Put the baby’s head in one of the braces or V-shaped side material. (This is required if the baby is newborn, less than 3.5 months old or unable to support his head by himself. NEVER cover the baby’s face with any fabric. ALWAYS make sure that your baby has enough free space to be able to breathe properly. 19 Check the baby’s seat is secure Regularly check the baby’s position and adjust the V-shaped material at the bottom to maintain a comfortable and secure seat. 20 Lean and check Finally you should check that your wrap is always secure in line with your baby’s weight, while he is held securely to your chest. Check that when you lean forwards your baby does not fall back away from your chest at any time. You should always feel that the baby is held securely in place and at the correct height for you to be able to kiss his head at any time. 21 Protects the newborn If your baby is newborn or under 3.5 months, the leg fully open option is recommended to help his hips to mature. As well as securing his head firmly so it does not move in the sling. To do this, gently bend your baby’s leg at the knee and hold his foot with one hand while you pull the band or front fabric with the KidsZone logo up with the other hand. (For newborn babies it is advisable to fully cover their legs and feet with the front band). NEST OPTION

This front position has Option B for when the baby is more independent. Simply get the baby’s legs out of the belt under the front band (check that the baby is still firmly seated on the part where the straps cross over) and pull the front band up over his back for lower back support.

Remember that if your baby is newborn, or under 3.5 months, or if he is sleeping you should protect his head holding it with one of the V-shaped wrap braces. NEVER cover the baby’s face with any fabric. ALWAYS make sure that your baby has enough free space to be able to breathe properly. Baby fully protected and covered by the wrap.17

1 Find the KidsZone logo Place the inner part of the Cocoon wrap across your back. Make sure that the KidsZone logo is in the middle at the top of your back. 2 Cross it over at the front Cross the wrap over your chest passing both ends over your shoulders. 3 Tuck each end of the wrap Now tuck each end of the wrap under the belt across your back and pull each end firmly. Ask someone to help you if this step is difficult. 4 Bring the ends forward Now bring the ends forward and cross them over at the height of your navel and then take the ends behind again. 5 Tie a double knot Tie a final double knot and make sure it is firm and secure. Ask someone to help you if you want to make sure that the knot is securely tied. 6 Put the baby’s feet through With the help of another adult, pass one of the baby’s feet through the left or right side rear strap of the wrap, and then do the same with the other foot on the other side. 7 Check the seat With your helper, check that the baby is sitting firmly on the central cross formed by the straps. 9 Full neck control This position is suitable for when the baby has enough control to move his head by himself and when he can fully move or turn it unaided. 8 Raise the back part Raise the belt band to cover the baby’s back. Remember that for this position you will always need the help of another person. When you use this position you always need to keep control of your baby. Position 2: baby carried on your back - Option C (See page 3)18

Position 3: baby carried to one side - Option D (See page 3) 1 Find the KidsZone logo Find the middle of the wrap with the Kidszone logo. 2 Put the wrap over your back Put the wrap on, over your back, centred, as if you were wearing a shawl. 3 From shoulder to armpit Decide which side you are going to carry the baby on, and then slide the wrap off your shoulder and pass it under your armpit on the same side, without letting go of it. 4 Two ends of the wrap: Horizontal part/Vertical part Pull the horizontal part of the wrap across towards the other side. Now you will have two ends to the wrap: the horizontal end held in one hand and the vertical end held in the other hand. 5 Make a loop on your shoulder Take hold of the vertical end and pass it over your covered shoulder while still holding the vertical part with the other hand. This will form a loop on the top of your shoulder. 6 Make the sack for your baby Make the sack bigger that has been made under your uncovered shoulder where you are going to carry the baby. The bottom of the sack should reach the top of your hip bone (not higher or lower). 7 Place the baby in the wrap Place your baby in the sack and put your hand under the wrap to pull his legs through so the baby is sitting in this part of the wrap. 8 Positioning the baby Support the wrap at the back of your baby’s knees (or the back of his thighs) as if it were a swing, and slide the baby down to the right height. This means the baby’s knees will be raised without having to open his hips any more than necessary.19

9 With no wrinkles Raise the edge of the fabric an inch above the baby’s ears. Make sure that there are no wrinkles in the fabric across his back. Tuck the surplus fabric into the space between you and your child, so that it comes out at his knees and forms a secure seat. 10 From back to front Hold your baby securely against your chest with one arm and with your other arm reach behind your back and bring the back vertical part of the wrap round to the front. At the front pass it between your baby’s legs and hold it with the same hand that is holding the baby. 11 From front to back Now do the same with the part of the wrap that is loose at the front. Pass it between your baby’s legs and then pass it around the back of your waist and hold it in the hand that is holding the other part of the wrap. 12 Knot the wrap at the side Now you are holding both ends of the wrap in the same hand, so you are ready to knot is the help of your free hand. Tie a double knot that goes under your child’s back. At each end of the wrap there is an elastic strap to tuck the end of the wrap through after tying the knot. This means the ends of the wrap won’t bother you or get in the way when carrying the child. Elastic strap at both ends Packs fully away Now you can use the wrap anywhere thanks to the large central pocket. Turn the pocket inside out and pack the wrap away inside the pocket that serves as a cover. Or you can always store it completely sealed in its carry bag.20

HOW TO TIE THE DOUBLE KNOT FOR THE SLING: 1-Pull the two ends NOTE: make sure that the double knot is always below the front band WARNING! For babies with low birth weight and those with specic medical problems, it is advisable to seek advice from healthcare professionals before using the product. If your baby is premature or unable to hold his head up yet unaided, carry him in the NEST option with one of the straps tted to his neck, to protect it. 2-Join them in the middle and cross them over 3-Turn you hand over your wrist and put your hand through the hole 4-Pull the ends to separate them 5-Now the rst knot is tied 7-And now you have the second knot 6-Repeat this process to tie another knot on top of the rst one21

Jané is not responsible for any incorrect use or the tying of knots that does not follow the instructions given in this manual. The child may be injured if you do not follow these instructions. Your baby should ALWAYS be close enough to you for you to be able to kiss his forehead without straining at all. Never position the baby on your back without help WARNING! Premature babies, babies with a low birth weight, babies with infections of the upper airways, low muscle tone, or gastroesophageal reflux should be carried in the vertical position and not in the horizontal position (lying down position), held against the carrier’s chest. The horizontal position is not recommended for prolonged periods of time because as the baby’s legs are together and not separated, it does not favour the baby’s hip development. (Especially useful for babies with hip dysplasia). WARNING: NEWBORN BABIES do not have sufficient muscle control to open their airways if they placed in this type of position. Carry bag included. HOW TO KEEP YOUR BABY SAFE WHEN USING THIS TYPE OF PRODUCT 1.- The baby should be held securely against your body, high up on your chest, as if you were carrying him in your arms. 2.- The crossed over seat made by the bottom of the V shape, should support the baby’s bottom and the backs of his knees (hamstrings). Bear in mind that the wider the fabric of the sling is spread out, the better supported the baby will be. 3.- When your baby is in the vertical position, his knees should be level with the carrier’s hips, or even above them if possible, in the “frog” position. This will help to keep the baby’s spine in a natural, curved position. 4.- Do not put your baby’s legs under his bottom. This would put too much pressure on his legs and could trap a nerve or prevent the blood from flowing correctly. 5.- If you want to nurse your baby, you’ll have to loosen the braces of the sling, but remember to tighten them up again afterwards, so your baby is held securely against your chest again. 6.- Carrying the baby in this type of baby carrier should not cause you any type of back pain. If you do experience any back pain, it will be because you are wearing the sling too low down or very tight, and/or because the fabric may be twisted. Your baby should ALWAYS be close enough to you for you to be able to kiss his forehead without straining at all.

Baby’s face covered WHAT IS BAMBOO? AND WHAT PROPERTIES DOES IT HAVE? Bamboo is a very fresh material, that feels pleasant to the touch and is very comfortable. It is an excellent heat regulator: warm in winter and cool in summer. It also absorbs moisture and evaporates human sweat more quickly than any other fabric (bamboo fibre is 4 times more absorbent than cotton). What’s more this fibre is also antibacterial (it prevents bacteria from appearing) and helps to keep you odour free. It protects from the sun’s rays (ultraviolet radiation). Lastly, you’ll see that even after being washed umpteen times it still feels just as soft and bobble-free. 60247 T05 ELEPHANT BOWL 60247 T48 GREY LAND24
