1. This is a “UNIVERSAL ISOFIX” child restraint device for group 1 (9-18 kg) for use in vehicles

with an ISOFIX anchoring system, and a “Universal/Semi-Universal” device for group 2 and 3 (15-36 kg). Approved in compliance with Regulaon No. 44/04, it is suitable for general use in vehicles and is compable with most, but not all, passenger seats.

2. To use a UNIVERSAL ISOFIX system, it is necessary to read the vehicle manual before

proceeding with the installaon. The vehicle manual will indicate which passenger seats are compable with the size class of the UNIVERSAL ISOFIXapproved car seat.

3. This restraint device has been classied as “Universal” according to stricter approval

criteria than previous models that do not have this noce.

4. The mass group and the ISOFIX size class for which the device can be used are: GROUP 1,

class B1 for 9-18 kg.

5. If in doubt, contact the manufacturer of the child restraint device, or the retailer.

WHEN USING THE CHILD CAR SEAT

WARNING: Make sure that the child car seat is placed somewhere so that rigid items and plasc parts do not become trapped in doors or movable seat units when the seat is in everyday use.

WARNING: Always use the vehicle’s door child safety lock system, if one is available, to make it impossible for the child to open the car doors from inside.

WARNING: Allow the child a break during long car journeys and make sure they don’t get out of the car seat unaided and without supervision.

Ensure that it is not loose or wobbly aer you have ed it. If it is loose, ret it. WARNINGS• ENGLISH •

WARNING: Ensure that the child car seat is secured to the car seat at all mes evenwhen not in use.

WARNING: The seat cover should not be replaced with any other than the one recommended by the manufacturer, because the cover constutes an integral part of the restraint performance.

WARNING: Stop the car at regular intervals to check that the child car seat is in the correct posion and that both the car seatbelt AND the child car seat harness (if required) are sll fastened and latched.

WARNING: In the event of an emergency it is important to be able to release the child quickly (as dened by Brish Standards). This means that seat buckle cannot be fully tamper proof and you should acvely discourage your child from playing with or using the buckle.

WARNING: Do not place anything under the child car seat (e.g. a towel or cushion) as this could aect the performance of the seat in an accident.

WARNING: Avoid winter clothing bundling Bulky clothing can lead to incorrect harness ghtening. In an accident, the child can slip right out of the extra padding - and thus out of the seat. Let the car warm up or cool down prior to placing your child in there if possible. If your child is cold, place a blanket over the top of the harness.

WARNING: Make sure to properly secure any loose objects, such as luggage or books, in your car as they may cause injuries in the event of an accident.

WARNING: Make sure that all the locking devices have been fastened correctly before use.

WARNING: Do not use spare parts or accessories other than those supplied or approved by the manufacturer, as they may make the product unsafe.

WARNING: Make sure that ALL the passengers in your vehicle have their seatbelts fastened, as unrestrained people can be very dangerous to the child in an accident.

WARNING: Make sure that there are no twists in the seatbelt.

WARNING: Do not place luggage on the parcel shelf without securing it: in the event of an accident it could cause serious damage to passengers.

WARNING: Do not leave your child in the child car seat while parked in direct sunlight or on a hot day.

WARNING: Do not subject the child car seat to prolonged direct sunlight as this may be dangerous for your child (the metal and plasc ngs could become hot) and may cause the fabric to fade. Cercaon... as a safety car seatThe car seat has been designed, tested and approved in accordance with the requirements of the European Regulaon concerning devices for the safety of children ECE R 44-04.On the shell of the car seat there is a label that lists the approval number.Any changes made to the car seat will invalidate the approval.Only the manufacturer is authorised to make changes to the car seat. 2. Use in the vehicle

The car seat can be installed as shown in the gure: DO NOT use the product with a two-point seat belt. Install the child restraint with a three-point seat belt. Please comply with the regulaons in force in your own country. The seat belt must be approved according to the ECE R16 regulaon or other equivalent standards. Do not use with a two-point seat belt. The car seat is compable with passenger seats equipped with three-point seat belts. WARNING

With a 2-point seat belt The use of two-point seat belts significantly increases the risk of injury to the child in the event of an accident.

With 3-point seat belts The seat belt must be approved according to the ECE R16 regulation or other equivalent standards

With the ISOFIX anchoring system and Top Tether If a front airbag is fitted: slide the passenger seat very far back and check the instructions contained in the vehicle manual.

On the front passenger seat DO NOT USE ON PASSENGER SEATS EQUIPPED WITH ACTIVE FRONT AIRBAGS! The car seat can be attached to the front passenger seat using the ISOFIX systems, or alternatively without these, by following the same warnings as for these systems (slide the passenger seat backwards and consult the instructions in the vehicle user manual).

On the two rear side passenger seat

the passenger seat backrests are locked (for example, click the folding rear seats into place);

all heavy or sharp objects inside the passenger compartment (e.g. on the parcel shelf) are posioned securely;

the car seat is always securely aached to the passenger seat, even when not in use.• ENGLISH •

Installing the car seat in Group I for children weighing between 9 and 18 kg, with the ISOFIX anchoring system and Top Tether Press both sides of the adjustment/ release buon on the ISOFIX connectors simultaneously and extend the ISOFIX connectors. Align the ISOFIX connectors with the anchoring points xed to the vehicle passenger seat and press unl you hear a “click”. The indicator on both brackets will turn green, conrming that they have aached. Check that both brackets are aached correctly. Shake the car seat to be sure it is correctly xed in place. If your car does not have standard ISOFIX connector guides, insert those supplied with the car seat with the recess facing upwards in the two ISOFIX anchoring points in the car. SUGGESTION: The ISOFIX anchoring points are located between the seat and the backrest of the passenger seat. Push the car seat against the passenger seat, making sure that both ISOFIX connectors are extended in the same posion.• ENGLISH • • ENGLISH •

3.1.1. Using the car seat with the reducer

Always secure the child with the belt when placed in the car seat.

Never leave the child unattended in the car seat.

Never leave the child unattended in the car seat when placed on high-up surfaces (such as tables, etc).

Make sure that the ends of the straps have not been caught in moving parts (e.g. automatic doors, escalators, etc.).

CAUTION! The plastic parts of the car seat can heat up in the sun, causing burns to the child. Protect the car seat from excessive heat, for example, by using a lightweight cover.

Take regular breaks when travelling on long journeys. Your child can get tired very easily. Avoid leaving the child in the car seat for too long. Use the car seat with the reducer supplied when the child weighs less than 15 kg. The reducer is used to ensure greater comfort to young children. The reducer gives your child greater support during the ﬁrst months. For the safety of your child ATTENTION Reducer Adjusng the headrest correctly ensures maximum protecon for your child when inside the car seat. When using the 5-point harness, the headrest must be adjusted so that there is a 1-ﬁnger (1 cm) space between the shoulder straps and the top of the shoulders. IMPORTANT: Loosen the shoulder straps before adjusng the headrest. Adjusng the straps to a posion lower or higher than the child’s shoulders can compromise your child’s safety.

The headrest can be adjusted to 9 different heights. Press the button and raise or lower the headrest, adjusting it according to the child’s height. In group 1, the adjustment of the headrest also changes the height of the shoulder straps. Ensure that the straps are positioned just above the child’s shoulders and that there is a space of about 1 finger (1 cm). NOTES: Loosen the shoulder straps before adjusting the headrest. IMPORTANT: The headrest must be adjusted so that there is a one or two-finger gap between it and the child’s shoulders.

3.1.2.3. Reclining the seat

The car seat can be adjusted into 5 different positions, from the vertical position to the most reclined. Press the adjustment handle located under the front of the car seat and, holding it down, adjust the seat into position 1. Release the handle when the seat is in the desired position and make sure that it is locked correctly; you will hear a “click” when the seat has attached. 3.1.3. Harness usE - Group 1 (from 9 to 18 kg)

Press the red button on the central buckle to release the shoulder straps. Place the shoulder straps on the sides of the car seat. Place the child into the car seat. Place the straps over the child’s shoulders, join together the two belt tabs and hook them to the buckle. IMPORTANT! Correct adjustment of the headrest ensures maximum protection for your child when they are inside the car seat. When using the 5-point harness, the headrest must be adjusted so that there is 1 finger (1 cm) gap between the shoulder straps and the top of the shoulders. IMPORTANT: Loosen the shoulder straps before adjusting the headrest To attach the buckle: Hold together the central buckle tabs (fig. 1-2) and insert them in the special slot inside the harness buckle (fig. 2). A “click” will indicate that it has attached correctly (fig. 3). NOTE: to attach the buckle, it is necessary to insert both tabs. To release the buckle: Press the red button to remove the tabs from the central buckle. Tightening the harness: Pull the harness adjustment strap so as to tighten it properly against the body of the child. The harness is correctly tightened when the gap between the harness and the child is no greater than the thickness of your finger (1 cm). NOTE: check that the buckle is secured by tugging the shoulder and waist straps. ATTENTION: Do not twist or overlap the harness straps. Click Pull the harness adjuster strap towards you, neither upwards nor downwards. Aer adjustment, the loose adjuster strap should be hidden under the cover.

Installing the car seat in Group II/III for children weighing between 15 and 36 kg, with the 3-point seat belt It is recommended that you use the 5-point harness for as long as possible. Remove the reducer to use the car seat in the GROUP 1 configuration for a longer time. When your child has outgrown the group 1 (9-18kg) configuration and you wish to use the seat for a child in either group 2 (15 - 25kg) or group 3 (22-36kg) then you will need to remove the child car seats integral 5-point harness. See paragraph 4.2. Installaon with the vehicle 3-point seat belt. Only suitable for use in vehicles equipped with 3-point stac or retractor seat belts, approved according to regulaon UN/ ECE no.16 or other equivalent standards. As shown in gure, pass the diagonal part of the 3-point belt through the red diagonal belt guide located in the lower part of the headrest, from the retractor side. Place the child into the car seat. Adjust the headrest to the appropriate height (cfr. par. 3.1.2.2). Pull out the 3-point seat belt of the vehicle and, passing it over the front of your child, aach the vehicle’s seat belt by inserng the p into the buckle . A “click” will indicate that it is aached correctly. Make sure that you have posioned the lap belt as low as possible on the child’s pelvis, and that it has been inserted in the belt guides of the lap seat belt and that you have correctly aached the buckle. Installing the car seat in Group II/III for children weighing between 15 and 36 kg, with the 3-point seat belt and ISOFIX connectors It is recommended that you use the 5-point harness for as long as possible. 4.2.2 Storing the ve-point restraint system (harness)

To loosen the harnes: Press the adjustment button and at the same time grip the straps (chest belts) at the bottom, under the pads of the chest protectors, and pull them forwards to loosen them. IMPORTANT: Do not pull on the shoulder pads. To obtain the 9 headrest adjustment positions, the harness must be completely loose. Press the lever located at the top of the headrest and lift it to the maximum position. Open the buckle. Detach the press studs on the side of the lining (fig. 2). Lift up the seat fabric and open the compartment on the bottom of the seat (fig. 3). Hook the tips to the buckle and insert the buckle into the internal compartment, then close the compartment again. Lock the chest straps in the back locking loops. Put the fabric back onto the seat and backrest, then attach the press studs (fig. 4). Press

4.3. Removing the linings for cleaning or reposioning of the cover Removing the lining Loosen the harness (see 4.2) and remove the reducer if it is being used. Lift up the headrest to the highest position. Detach the side press studs and unhook the 4 elastic loops for securing the fabric to the backrest. Remove it, carefully pulling the fabric off from the headrest. Remove it, carefully pulling the fabric off from the frame, starting from one side, being careful while removing the fabric from the lap belt guide. Remove the leg separator harness from the lining and take off the fabric (5). Replacing the lining Place the seat lining on the car seat and insert the leg separator harness with protection into the slot. Carefully replace the lining along the side, in its housing. Be careful when placing the fabric around the lap belt guide (6). Place the harness in front of the fabric, hook on the 4 elastic loops for securing the fabric to the backrest and attach the press studs. Carefully replace the lining along the edge of the headrest, in its housing. Attach the press studs at the bottom of the headrest to the seat fabric. Make sure that it has been assembled correctly, checking that the harness belts are not twisted (7).

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

4.4. Cleaning and maintenance Cleaning It is recommended to use only original linings, as these components are fundamental for the car seat to function correctly. Do not use the car seat without the supplied lining. The lining can be removed and washed in a washing machine with a mild detergent, using the delicate fabric cycle (30°C). Follow the washing instructions shown on the label. The colours may fade if washed at temperatures above 30°C. Never spin dry or tumble dry (as the fabric could become detached from the padding). The plastic parts may be cleaned with water and soap. Do not use harsh detergents (such as solvents). The harness may be removed and washed with soap and warm water. Warning! Never remove the tabs of the buckles from the straps. Cleaning and maintenance IMPORTANT: The lining is a fundamental component for your child’s safety. Never use the car seat without the lining, nor replace it with other products which have not been approved, so as to avoid endangering the child’s safety or compromising the proper functioning of the device. Washing instruction: The lining can be removed, washed at 30°C and hung out to dry

FORMAL GUARANTEE The contents of this document as stated below will come into effect as from 01.01.2005 and replace, on every account and in full, any previous message referring to the guarantee provided by Foppa Pedretti S.p.A. FORMAL GUARANTEE Foppa Pedretti S.p.A. the head office of which is located at n. 11 Via Volta, Grumello del Monte (Italy), guarantees directly to the Consumer that this brand new product is free of faults with regard to the materials, design and manufacture and that it complies with the characteristics as declared by the manufacturer. This formal guarantee is valid in all Member Countries of the European Union and it neither excludes nor limits the Consumer’s rights in accordance with mandatory measures provided for by the law with regard to the Retailer of the Product. To take advantage of this formal guarantee, the Consumer must return the faulty product to the Retailer, presenting to the same the proof of purchase of the Product which must clearly show the Retailer’s address, the date of purchase of the Product with the Retailer’s stamp and signature and an indication of the Product itself or, alternatively, the receipt which must not have been altered and which must clearly show the same information as that referred to above. The formal guarantee is valid for twelve (12) months from the date of purchase of the Product. During this period, Foppa Pedretti S.p.A. will repair or replace the faulty product, at its own discretion. The formal guarantee is granted to the end buyer of the Product (Consumer) and it neither excludes nor limits the mandatory rights of the Consumer as provided for by the law and/ or the rights that the Consumer may have with regard to the Dealer/Retailer of the Product. EXCLUSIONS TO THE FORMAL GUARANTEE. The formal guarantee is excluded in the case of damage caused to the Product for the following reasons: if the product is used in a way that does not comply with the information contained in the use and assembly instruction sheet, if the product is knocked or dropped, if the Product is exposed to humidity or extreme heat or environmental conditions, or to sudden changes in the same, corrosion, oxidization, unauthorized alterations or repairs to the Product, repairs using unauthorised spare parts, improper use, improper maintenance or failure to carry out the same, improper maintenance compared to the information given on the use and assembly instruction sheet, incorrect assembly, accidents, damage caused by food or drink, damage caused by chemical products, cases of force majeure. In any case, Foppa Pedretti S.p.A. declines all responsibility for damage caused to persons or to property, other than the Product, when such damage is caused by a failure to comply with the instructions/advice/warnings cont a ined in the manua l or, alternatively, in the use and assembly instruction sheet provided with each Product for the owner/user. (Purely as an example, in the case of a cot : “Check your baby constantly. Make sure that the sheets and blankets do not cover the baby’s head…”). Furthermore, Foppa Pedretti S.p.A. declines all responsibility for damage to persons and to property when the breakage of its products is due to a deterioration in the components of the Product that are subject to wear.
