  • The actual runtime under load of a fully char- ged battery depends on how you work and on the load put on the trimmer during operation. Noise and vibration values have been determined according to the standards and regulations mentioned in the declaration of conformity. The vibration and noise meas- uring processes in accordance with EN 50636-2-91, were completed successfully. Noise and vibration values have been determined according to the standards and regulations mentioned in the declaration of conformity. The stated vibration emission value was measured in accordance with a standard testing procedure and may be used to com- pare one power tool to another. The stated vibration emission value may also be used for a preliminary exposure assessment.

Warning: The vibration emission

value may differ during actual use of the power tool from the stated value depending on the manner in which the power tool is used. Try to keep the exposure to vibra- tions as low as possible. Examples of measures to reduce vibration exposure are the wearing of gloves when using the tool and limiting the working hours. For this purpose all parts of the operating cycle have to be considered (for example, times when the electric tool is switched off and times when it is switched on but running without any load). Safety instructions Ensure that the safety instructions are observed when operating the trimmer. Symbols and icons Symbols on the trimmer WARNING! Carefully read these Operat- ing Instructions. Wear goggles and ear defenders.23 IEGB After turning off the ap- pliance, the cutting disk will keep revolving for a couple of seconds. Keep away from your hand and feet. Do not expose the trimmer to moisture. Do not work when it is raining and do not cut wet grass. Keep by-standers well away. They could be injured by ung out objects. Symbols in the manual Warning symbols with information on damage and injury prevention. Warning symbols with information on the pre- vention of personal injury caused by electric shock. Instruction symbols with infor- mation on preventing damage. Carefully read through the user manual Help symbols with information on improving tool handling. General safety instruc- tions for power tools WARNING! Read all safety directions and instructions. Omissions in the compliance with safety directions and instructions can cause electrical shock, re and/or severe injuries. Retain all safety directions and instructions for future use. The term “Power Tools” used in the safety instructions refers to mains- operated power tools (with power cord) and to battery-operated pow- er tools (without power cord).

a) Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents. b) Do not operate power tools in explosive atmos- pheres, such as in the presence of ammable Iiquids, gases or dust.24 IEGB Power tools create sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes. c) Keep children and bystand- ers away while operating a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control.

2) ELECTRICAL SAFETY

a) Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Do not use any adapter plugs with earthed (grounded) power tools. Unmodied plugs and matching outlets will reduce risk of electric shock. b) Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded sur- faces, such as pipes, ra- diators, ranges and refrig- erators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed or grounded. c) Do not expose power tools to rain or wet condi- tions. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of electric shock. d) Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carrying, pulling or un- plugging the power tool. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts. Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of electric shock. e) When operating a power tool outdoors, use an ex- tension cord suitable for outdoor use. Use of a cord suitable for outdoor use reduces the risk of electric shock. f) If operating a power tool in a damp location is una- voidable, use a residual current device (RCD) pro- tected supply. Use of an RCD reduces the risk of electric shock.

a) Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating a power tool. Do not use a power tool while you are tired or under the inuence of drugs, alcohol or medi- cation. A moment of inattention white operating power tools may result in serious personal injury. b) Use personal protective equipment. Always wear eye protection. Protective equipment such as dust mask, non-slip safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing protection used for appropriate conditions will re- duce personal injuries. c) Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switch is in the off-position be- fore connecting to power source and/or battery pack, picking up or car- rying the tool. Carrying power tools with your nger on the switch or energising power tools that have the switch on invites accidents. d) Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning the power tool on. A wrench or a key left attached to a rotat- ing part of the power tool may result in personal injury.25 IEGB e) Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and bal- ance at all times. This ena- bles better control of the power tool in unexpected situations. f) Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Keep your hair, clothing and gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewellery or long hair can be caught in moving parts. g) If devices are provided for the connection of dust extraction and collection facilities, ensure these are connected and properly used. Use of dust collection can reduce dust-related hazards.

4) POWER TOOL USE AND CARE

a) Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application. The correct power tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it was designed. b) Do not use the power tool if the switch does not turn it on and off. Any power tool that cannot be controlled with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired. c) Disconnect the plug from the power source and/or the battery pack from the power tool before making any adjust -ments, chang- ing accessories, or storing power tools. Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting the power tool acci- dentaIly. d) Store idle power tools out of the reach of children and do not allow persons unfamiliar with the power tool or these instructions to operate the power tool. Power tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users. e) Maintain power tools. Check for misalignment or binding of moving parts, breakage of parts and any other condi- tion that may affect the power tool’s operation. If damaged, have the power tool repaired before use. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools. f) Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly main- tained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges are less Iikely to bind and are easier to control. g) Use the power tool, acces- sories and tool bits etc. in accordance with these in- structions, taking into ac- count the working condi- tions and the work to be performed. Use of the power tool for operations different from those intended could result in a hazardous situation. h) Ensure that the vents are free of soiling.

i) Remove the battery pack

from the power tool - whenever the user no longer remains in the vicinity of the machine. - before the removal of blockages. - before checking, cleaning or working on the machine.26 IEGB - after touching a foreign body in order to check the machine for damage. - for an immediate check if the machine begins to vibrate ex- cessively.

Have your power tool ser- viced by a qualied repair person using only identi- cal replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the power tool is maintained. Additional safety instruc- tions TRAINING

  • In the power tools, use only the batteries de- signed for the purpose. The use of other batteries may result in injuries and risk of re.
  • Keep the unused battery away from paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws and other small metal ob- jects, which could cause bridging of the contacts. A short circuit between the battery contacts may cause burns or r e .
  • If used incorrectly, liquid may leak from the battery. Avoid contact with this. In the event of accidental con- tact, rinse off with water. If the liquid gets into eyes, seek16 GB IE medical assistance. Leaking bat- tery uid may cause skin irrita- tions or burns.
