Know Your Saw (2) (4) (3) (5)(6) (7) (9) (12) (13) (10) (11)Machine Specic Safety Instructions Know your circular saw. Do not operate the tool until you have read and understand this Instruction Manual. Learn the tool’s applications and limitations, as well as the specific potential hazards related to this tool. Following this rule will reduce the risk of electric shock, fire, or serious injury.
- This machine requires the use of two hands to ensure safe operation and should not be used when working from ladders and step ladders.
- If the machine is to be used when working at height a suitable, stable platform or scaffold tower with hand rails and kick boards should be used.
- Keep hands away from cutting area and blade. Keep your second hand on auxiliary handle, or motor housing. If both hands are holding the saw, they cannot be cut by the blade.
- Do not reach underneath the workpiece. The guard cannot protect you from the blade below the workpiece.
- Adjust the cutting depth to the thickness of the workpiece. Less than a full tooth of the blade teeth should be visible below the workpiece.
- Never hold the piece being cut in your hands or across your leg. Secure the workpiece to a stable platform. It is important to support the work properly to minimize body exposure, blade binding, or loss of control.
- Hold the power tool by insulated gripping surfaces when performing an operation where the cutting tool may contact hidden wiring or its own cord. Contact with a “live” wire will also make exposed metal parts of the power tool “live” and shock the operator.
- Always use blades with correct size and shape (diamond versus round) of arbour holes. Blades that do not match the mounting hardware of the saw will run eccentrically, causing loss of control.
- Never use damaged or incorrect blade washers or bolt. The blade washers and bolt were specially designed for your saw, for optimum performance and safety of operation.
- Never use a cracked or distorted saw blade. Only use sharp blades.
- Do not use blades of High Speed Steel (HSS blades) (15) (14) (16)• Avoid cutting nails. Inspect the work piece and remove all nails and other foreign objects before beginning sawing.
- Do not lock the movable guard in the open position and always ensure that it is working properly, freely rotating and returning to fully cover the teeth of the blade. Safety Instructions - Kickback
- Kickback is a sudden reaction to a pinched, bound or misaligned saw blade, causing an uncontrolled saw to lift up and out of the workpiece toward the operator.
- When the blade is pinched or bound tightly by the cut closing, the blade stalls and the motor reaction drives the unit rapidly back toward the operator.
- If the blade becomes twisted or misaligned in the cut, the teeth at the back edge of the blade can dig into the top surface of the wood causing the blade to climb out of the cut and jump back towards the operator. Kick back occurs when the saw stalls rapidly and is driven back towards the operator. To avoid kick back keep blades sharp and always support large work pieces correctly. Release the switch immediately if blade binds or if the circular saw stalls.
- Do not remove the saw from a work piece while the blade is still moving. Never place your hands or fingers behind or in front of the saw (Pic 4). If kick back occurs, the saw could jump backwards over your hand, possibly causing severe injury.
- Always lower guard with the retaining handle. Before cutting be sure that the depth and bevel adjustments are tight.
- Use only the correct blades for your power tool with the correct bore size.
- Never use defective or incorrect blade washers or bolts.
- Avoid cutting nails by inspecting the work piece, remove all nails from the work piece before cutting.
- Operate with the correct hand and work piece support.
- It is important to support the work piece properly and to hold the saw firmly to prevent loss of control which could cause personal injury.
- Pic. 5 illustrates the correct hand positions to support of the saw
- Place the wider portion of the saw base on that part of the work piece which is solidly supported, not on the section that will fall off when the cut is made. If the work piece is short or small, clamp it to a suitable support.
- DO NOT TRY TO HOLD SHORT PIECES BY HAND!
- Pic. 6 illustrates the correct way to cut off the end of a board. Pic.7 shows the wrong way to cut off the end of a board.
- Never attempt to saw with the Circular Saw held upside down in a vice (Pic. 8) this is extremely dangerous and can lead to a serious accident.
- Before setting the tool down after completing a cut, be sure that the lower guard has closed and the blade has come to a complete stop. Safety Instructions - Lower Guard
- Check lower guard is properly closed before each use. Do not operate the saw if the lower guard does not move freely and close instantly. Never clamp or tie the lower guard in the open position. If the saw is accidentally dropped, lower guard may be bent. Raise the lower guard with the blade guard lever and make sure it moves freely and does not touch the blade or any other part, in all angles and depths of cut.
- Check the operation of the lower guard spring. If the guard and the spring are not operating properly, they must be serviced before use. Lower guard may operate sluggishly due to damaged parts, gummy deposits, or a build-up of debris.
- Lower guard should be retracted manually only for special cuts such as “plunge cuts” and “compound cuts”. Raise lower guard by blade guard lever. As soon as blade enters the material, the lower guard must be released. For all other sawing tasks, the lower guard should operate automatically.
- Always observe that the lower guard is covering the blade before placing the saw down on bench or floor.
- Be aware of the time it takes for the blade to stop after the switch is released.Product Specications Voltage 230 ~50 Hz Motor 1400 W No load speed 5400 min-1 Max Cut 90° 64mm Blade Size 185mm 24T Sound Pressure Level LPA 89 dB(A) Sound Power Leve LWA 100 dB(A) Vibration Level 1,5m/s 2 Weight 4,4 kg Operating Instructions Adjustments Depth Of Cut At 90° (Pic.9-12)
- The Circular Saw has an adjustable depth of cut. To adjust the depth of cut slacken the lever located on the side of the machine (Pic.9).
- Measure the depth required from the base plate to the highest point of the blade or use the depth gauge on the fixed guard. (Pic.10). Angle Of Cut 0-45° (Pic. 11)
- Located at the front of the machine is the 0-45° locking lever (Pic.11). Slacken the lever and the base plate assembly will rotate between 0-45°. Set the desired cutting angle by using degree scale at the front of the machine and tighten the locking lever.
- At the front of the base plate there are two notches marked 90° and 45°. These notches are a guide to indicate the position of the blade in relation to the cut being made in the material. Parallel Cutting (Pic.12)
- This machine is supplied with a parallel cutting guide. This cutting guide is fitted to the front of the machine and secured with the locking knob (Pic.12). Changing The Blade (Pics. 13 To 16)
- Always ensure that the Circular Saw is disconnected from the mains supply before carrying out any maintenance or adjustments.
- The blade is extremely sharp and care must be observed when handling.
- Caution must be observed as the blade guard is spring loaded and if released may cause an injury. Rotate the blade guard into the fully open position and secure it in this position using a screwdriver or piece of wood.
- Depress the spindle lock and using the supplied hex key, unscrew the hex socket screw in an anti-clockwise direction. (Pic.13 - 14)
- Remove the hex socket screw and the retaining flange noting which way round the retaining flange is fitted (Pic.14). You can now remove the blade.
- Do not dispose of the blade in house-hold waste, recycle correctly.
- Take note of the position of the inner flange, if this should fall off it must be replaced as shown in (Pic.15).
- Remove any wood debris from around the motor spindle and the two flanges.
- Fit the new blade as shown in (Pic.16) ensuring that the direction of rotation arrow on the blade corresponds with the direction of rotation arrow on the fixed guard. Replace the retaining flange and blade bolt.
- Tighten the hex socket screw securely but do not over tighten.
- Check the tightness of the hex socket screw before, during and after each use.
- Remove the piece of wood or screwdriver that is holding it in the open position. Slowly release the guard so that it covers the blade.
- Check the operation of the blade guard making sure that it operates correctly. The operation is complete and your machine is ready for use.LI-ION Symbols The manual or rating plate on your tool may show symbols.
